I am a 34 year-old prize-winning Masters graduate in Mathematics from Oxford University, and I also hold Top Candidate Notifications for my performances in A-level maths and further maths, and another such notification for my performance in GCSE Statistics. Teaching Experience:
I have ten full years experience as a full-time private tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that. Traversing the mathematical landscape is an art; it can be a very uncomfortable environment for some. I find it so important to make my students feel at ease and to find confidence in their maths and so important to be friendly and patient. I am not a suited, booted assessor, nor old-school, to be frank! I usually start with the current topics that student is studying in the school and explain to the student that topic and related background knowledge. As I teach one to one, my pace is faster than school and we usually finish the topic in one or sometimes two classes. And then we do previous topics and I explain doubts on those topics. To keep track of content during the session I tend to switch between teaching and worksheets, making sure the student doesn't feel like they're at boring old school again haha. Towards the end, I'll do a brief summary and tester questions on what we've learnt to do.

It also depends on where we are at during the school term where typically towards the end I will focus on past papers more and constantly redirect the students to more resources to help them.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary school maths teacher, holding a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (specialising in Mathematics), from the University of West England.
I have 3 children of my own, all of whom I have enjoyed supporting to develop and master their own maths skills.
I currently offer lessons for KS3, GCSE and adult learners.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught all years at secondary school - KS3 and GCSE (bottom sets through to top set).

Previous to being a maths teacher I was involved in training adults in the IT sector.

Tutoring Approach:
I really enjoy helping my students to gain new skills, developing their understanding so that they can gain their best possible grade. I am friendly and supportive and tailor learning according to the pupil's individual needs.
I specialise in helping students to improve their memory recall.
