I am currently a grade-one "outstanding" teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "outstanding" rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an "Advanced Practitioner"-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.

My first session is normally spent working out the best tutoring technique, how motivated the student is and what sort of ability they are. For example, in some cases I like to set small amounts of homework which actually help develop a deep understanding of the question, rather than bundles of questions that encourage method-learning repetition.

From here, each session can build on the previous and will depend a lot on the current progress of the student, upcoming examinations, strengths and weaknesses and how confident they are. In general though, I like to go through the content as fast or as slow as necessary, and then do some past paper or textbook questions with the student. I began tutoring during my A-Levels, assisting GCSE students with their understanding of Chemistry. I am 34 year old female, looking to support learners with their education. Teaching has always been my passion since I was a little girl, and this has continued to grow as I have gotten older. I was diagnosed as dyslexia went I joined university, and this has yet to stop me from being successful. The fact that I struggled my way through school, has meant that I am particularly keen in supporting students who do not always find things easy, I believe I am a good role model to students with needs, and am proof that barriers can be overcome. It just takes the right support and patience to succeed.

I have been a qualified geography teacher for the past 12 years, and was head of department for just shy of 8 years. I specialise in the AQA exam board at both GCSE and A Level. For the past 8 years I have also been an examiner for AQA at GCSE level and this past year I examined for AQA at A Level.
