Since 2010, I have been tutoring in the academic subjects Maths and the individual Sciences; Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

I have taught at both primary- and secondary-school levels, with my students ranging between the ages of 6 and 16.

I can also help with entrance examinations for secondary school (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and I have provided mentorship and coaching when it comes to UCAS application forms, personal statements and CV writing.

During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. My approach is friendly, gentle and supportive but extremely professional. I aim to combine creative and emotionally engaging teaching with expert subject knowledge.

At the heart of my tutoring is how important it is that a student believes in their own ability to learn and to progress. If there is one word I hear my students kindly use to describe my qualities it would be 'patience'. Yet I never feel like my patience is tested - I love the challenge of finding new, innovative ways to help them understand their subject.

I am 43 years old and live at home with my partner and our two boys, both aged 6 and 8.

Teaching Experience:
I have nine years teaching experience in good and outstanding secondary schools. I have taught key stage 3, GCSE/IGCSE, A Level and IB maths and further maths. I have experience of the AQA, Edexcel and CIE specifications.

I have a calm approach to tutoring. I try to make students feel comfortable. I use a lot of praise and encouragement and really try to improve their confidence.

Personal Description:
I hold a master's degree in Cyber Security and an honours degree in Mathematics with Statistics from Royal Holloway University of London. My hobbies include football, travelling abroad and strength training.

Teaching Experience:
During my studies, I had worked as a teaching assistant starting at 16 years old and for nearly 5 years aiding students in their mathematical studies. Under my guidance as a teaching assistant I have seen students excel their end of module tests in order to progress to the next level of their mathematical learning.
From 2020 I began tutoring independently following the closure of the study center. I had provided hourly sessions for tutees both face-to-face and online, to help improve the knowledge of students and prepare for upcoming exams.
Through various online platforms I have delivered lessons online toa accommodates the students.

Tutoring Approach:
Teaching students of all ages and mathematical abilities. The lessons will be tailored to the students' needs and simplify the problem to their understanding. This can be delivered by going through past papers; working on mathematical examples or approaching problems they have experienced in their studies.
Lessons will be conducted either at the student's home or an online platform that suits the student.

My name is Jo and I live in Balloch.
.I have 37 years of dedicated service in education, I recently retired after a fulfilling career focused on enhancing children's learning. For 15 years, I served as a Principal Teacher in a large, diverse school in Glasgow's West End, where I led teams and supported whole-school improvement. As Literacy Leader of Learning for 6 years, I championed innovative approaches to reading and writing across the curriculum.

Teaching Experience:
For the past six years, my role has been Challenge Leader of Learning/Principal Teacher in a large school in the West End of Glasgow. Through the Literacy for All CPD training and guidance courses that I have attended, my remit has been to improve reading, writing , talking and listening as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge with the focus on giving all children the same opportunity to succeed, with a particular focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap and promote equity for all. I am an experienced and friendly Maths teacher and tutor who has always had a love of the subject and a vocation to helping students grow in confidence and achieve their potential. With over 35 years of one-to-one tutoring experience and classroom teaching from Year 7 to Year 13, I have worked with all abilities - from students who find Maths challenging and intimidating, to those who are confident and aiming for top grades. I am patient, approachable and supportive, and I love seeing the change in students as they grow to realise that they can succeed in Maths.

I am a father of 2 grown up kids living in Bridgnorth for 30 years with my wife and my lovely border collie Betsy. I enjoy walking the dog, riding my motorbike and playing squash.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored Maths for 35 years and have taught across KS3, GCSE and A-Level, including two years as an unqualified A-Level teacher before completing my formal training. I have supported a wide range of learners, from SEN students to high achievers who have gone on to Oxford and Cambridge. My track record includes helping foundation students secure passes and stretching top-end learners towards grades 8/9 and A/A*, including a recent student who rose from a grade-4 prediction to narrowly missing a grade 9. I have also been trusted to tutor the children of several teachers at Madeley Academy, where I trained and taught. I hold an up-to-date DBS check.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that for many children a lack of confidence can be a seemingly impossible barrier to their learning. Especially with Maths. As a consequence my aim is always encouraging, personalised and results-focused. My primary aim is build self-confidence and resilience by focusing on required knowledge, problem solving strategies and understanding combined with plenty of practice and exam technique woven in. I work from the ground up, making sure there are no gaps in prior learning that can often hold students back later. I want every student to leave every lesson a better mathematician and a happier more confident person. I tutor both in-person and online, using Microsoft Teams and interactive whiteboards to demonstrate ideas clearly and work through problems together in real time.
