Personal Description:
I am now a full time tutor after spending two decades teaching Mathematics and Science.
Teaching Experience:
I am a very experienced teacher. I have been the Head of Mathematics at a private school and previously taught in state schools.
Tutoring Approach:
The first three tutoring sessions are quite diagnostic. The aim is not only to find out strengths and weaknesses but also to see how quickly we can cover topics with most of the information retained.
As we cover material at a much faster rate than in normal class lessons.; recaps at speed become more import as lessons develop and confidence improves. The syllabus and past exam papers provide the main framework for most lessons.
Exam technique lessons, examiners mark schemes and revision materials are normally provided.

Personal Description:
I specialise in both face-to-face and distance learning over the internet. I am a friendly and approachable 32-year-old lecturer in physics at a local university in Sheffield. I completed my Ph.D. and MSci. degrees in nuclear physics at the University of Birmingham. Alongside my university teaching commitments I am an active researcher and supplement my teaching with references to up-to-date advances in physics.
Teaching Experience:
I have 8 years of experience teaching university level physics and mathematics. This includes theoretical, lecture-based subjects along with hands-on practical, lab-based teaching. For the past four years I have also regularly taught GCSE and A-level students at week-long residential physics courses as a consultant for a charitable educational trust. Over the past nine years I have taught a select number of students between the ages of 14-25 in the capacity of private tutor. Furthermore, as an active researcher in nuclear physics, I regularly share nuclear physics research with Ph.D. students and academics at national and international conferences.
Tutoring Approach:
I prefer one-to-one tutoring but will teach small groups up to three students. I encourage students to suggest areas they wish to cover in sessions because they know best about what area(s) of study they find most challenging. However, I always assess a student's current school or college work to aid me in identifying knowledge gaps. Whether the difficulties lie in specific topics in maths or physics or a more general overview of the courses, I will be able to provide help.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I strive to utilise up-to-date and innovative teaching practices, including advances in online teaching technologies. My experience as an experimental physicist means that I demonstrate difficult physics concepts through simple practical exercises; something that is often missing from traditional physics teaching.
Short homework problem sheets are set at the end of sessions to test the understanding of topics covered.

Personal Description:
Extensive experience teaching secondary school Mathematics (KS3/4) and striving towards being a specialist for A-level Mathematics (KS5).
I offer online tuition with an emphasis on the students' needs. I'm flexible on approach and will gladly cater to your technological specifications. Meaning, you will not require the best microphone, webcam, feng shui background or even the fastest bandwidth to maintain an improving grade. So long as you have a pencil, paper and an inquisitive mind that is set on learning, you will walk away from our sessions academically fulfilled.
My aim is to boost your self-esteem around the subject of Mathematics. As the tutor, it is my duty to listen to you and diagnose the root of your trouble. I will forever do my utmost to openly exhibit the array of techniques Mathematics has to offer us in order to equip you with enough confidence to speak up and ask, "hey, can you help me with this, please?"
Step-by-step we will learn how to overcome and begin to finish the race at our own pace.
Teaching Experience:
My experience in education has been learnt from the ground up. Each role that I have been honoured to fulfil has blessed me with a unique insight that support roles provide; the focus has always been about the individual.
Every child comes to school wanting to learn. Creating lessons that are engaging and modified not only for their academic level but also for their interests commands respect. Using Mathematics that mirrors their world is a guaranteed method to inspire motivation for the apathetic and manage behaviour for the unruly.
Teaching is a skill that is built with time and I am proud in my ability to engage young students as presentable maturity is so repeatedly demanded.

Tutoring Approach:
"But I very much believe that anyone can learn anything, as long as it is explained clearly enough" ~Raffi Grinberg, Real Analysis Lifesaver
In the age of online learning, explaining clearly enough is a nuanced task especially when it comes to Mathematics. I have always tailored my delivery to suit the needs of the student. The soft skills required to pick up on the preferred learning methods of each student is an ability I pride myself in. The topics covered in Mathematics for most school curriculums do not differ drastically. But what does have a lasting impression for those who hold any apprehension towards the subject is making the lesson intrinsically derived from their passions. Because Mathematics is everywhere. It is up to us educators to enlighten and embolden their world with how much Mathematics is involved in their innate interests. This wonder of discovery awaits every student. No matter how they regard their perceived natural ability towards numeracy.

Personal Description:
I decided to start tutoring after my experience in trying to get tutors for my own children. As a professional working internationally I thought it would be easy to hand over this important element of their education to someone with both experience and patience. My notion was quickly turned on its head. The Tutors I found taught textbook style with the one shoe fits all approach. My children and others didn't fit into that mould. I very quickly realised that I could do a better job and took the role in house, initially teaching my own daughters before extending out to their friends.
To date I have tutored over 50 children who have gone onto their chosen schools and streams. I believe that tutoring should be about delivering skills to children that they can carry with them throughout their young lives and provide a solid platform on which to develop.
Teaching Experience:
Have tutored key stage 2 and 3.
11 plus students and common entrance applicants.
Recently started to tutor mildly dyslexic students in English comprehension and Language.
Currently writing essays for publication in English Literature and Sociology and Business GCSE and AS level. As well as E papers for 11 plus students.
Tutoring Approach:
I love seeing peoples enthusiasm toward a subject which I also share the same excitement towards however I am also passionate about helping people who may need help or are looking for methods to improve their skills in these topics.

Personal Description:
I am 48 years old and have lived in the Fylde area since 2002. I have two daughters and one son who are my absolute life. In my spare time I spend quality time with them and live life to the full!!
In 2005 I started out as a teaching assistant and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to further my career and become a primary school teacher. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with QTS in July 2011. I achieved a good/outstanding grade on my final block placement.
I have decided to become a home tutor because I am more available in the evenings and it works well around my busy lifestyle. I have had 20 years of experience in education and can offer a high standard of teaching to all pupils, ensuring I meet their educational needs.
If your child would like tuition in preparation for SATs whether they are in Year 2 or Year 6, I will assess them using a SATs paper to identify areas they need to work on and create some lesson plans accordingly.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked in a variety of roles within schools across all key stages. These roles include 1:1 support assistant, reception key worker, teaching assistant, PE Instructor, PPA cover teacher, supply teacher and nursery practitioner.
During these times I have worked with a range of pupils with special educational needs and I am very proud to know that each and every child has progressed and developed through my creativity and strategic approach. I enjoy planning and ensuring lessons and activities are delivered effectively to meet the child's needs.
I have taught groups of children, half classes and whole classes, teaching in all primary subjects and many topics such as World War 2, Castles, Ancient Greece and Titanic.
During my final block placement in a year 5/6 mixed class, I supported children in preparation for SAT's and provided various activities to consolidate their understanding in the chosen subject they wanted support for. I also entered my class into a local poetry competition which over 100 schools entered. There were twelve winners chosen to have their poems published in a regional magazine. Out of the twelve winning poems, eight children from my class were awarded places in the magazine including first and second place. A very proud moment which is just one of my achievements that have made me more passionate about teaching children and ensuring they reach their full potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a very calm and creative approach to tutoring and enjoy going that extra mile to ensure education is enjoyable for all children.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Science Teacher, with a BSc Hons. in Physics and the Post Graduate Certificate in Science Education from York University.
I have more than 8 years experience of teaching pupils 1:1 in Maths and Physics.
I have a patient and enthusiastic style.
I focus on developing pupils' confidence and understanding, modifying the content of each tutorial and my teaching style to suit each student's individual needs, their abilities and progress in the subject.
Covering many examples, practice questions and past papers together, I ensure students consider and understand the examiners requirements and expectations. Using many other revision and exam techniques, I assist candidates to achieve their full potential and improve grades accordingly. To date all of my pupils have passed the exam I was assisting them with, although this cannot be guaranteed for every pupil of course. Many of my tutees achieve the higher 7-9 grades.
For home visits outside of Harrogate town, 40p/mile each way travel charge applies.
I'm semi-retired and have lived in Harrogate for over 15 years. Recent DBS check available.
Teaching Experience:
More than 8 years of tutoring experience, previous teaching in school placement, summer school and church Sunday school settings. Post Graduate Certificate in Science Education (PGCE), the national school teachers qualification, from York University.
Testimonial:
"John is an extremely calm, encouraging and thorough tutor and I have no hesitation in recommending his services. Our daughter's anticipated grade was increased by the school after his tutorials began. She sat her Maths GCSE in a much better frame of mind, and achieved her potential thanks to the sessions with John. " Laura.
Tutoring Approach:
I focus on teaching and improving:
Revision, Study and Exam Techniques and Skills, enhancing the pupil's recall and understanding of core concepts in Maths and Physics. I also teach pupils how to consider and tailor their responses to the examiner's requirements and expectations.
Enhancing motivation and interest in the subject by:
-relating new concepts to children's existing knowledge, interests and experiences;
-thorough revision of each topic;
-covering many practice examples;
-gradually introducing exam type questions;
-analysing the student's answers to exam questions together;
-explaining / inviting candidates to consider what the examiner is looking for.
With adequate practice on past papers, and by developing the student's motivation, desire and reasons to succeed, every candidate can be enabled to achieve their true potential in the exam.
My approach builds self-confidence in the student's own abilities.
These have all been proven to improve grades and self-confidence in exam results.

Personal Description:
I am a family man with three daughters.I try hard in all I do and have progressed through state schools to gain a teaching certificate (based on three years of training with assessment of teaching ability),an honours degree in maths and science,a diploma in health education,and an M.Phil. based on field work in educational techniques.For my hobby,I play tennis and National Service.
Besides face to face tutoring,I also do postal tuition.As an honours graduate of the Open University I know this can be effective.I find the initial requirements by telephone then send a worksheet by post.When the student returns this I mark with full comment and send back with a full work out of each question.Some questions are designed by me and some are from previous papers.In my view this method is better than online as there is more time for reflection.I charge just £22 for postal tuition and will tutor students from anywhere in Great Britain or abroad
Teaching Experience:
I h ave taught in grammar schools,secondary modern and comprehensive. I have also lectured as a visiting lecturer on educational methods at Leeds University,based on my M.Phil.research.I do not have any experience in primary schools.I have 20 years of tutoring experience.
Tutoring Approach:
I first try to find the needs of the student.I prepare meticulously and review every lesson.I try to install an enthusiasm for the subject.

I am a passionate, kind and caring educator with a wide range of experience teaching and tutoring both in the UK and abroad. I have worked as a primary school teacher for 9 years, a part-time private tutor as well as spending time working as a Governess/nanny in Russia. My most recent teaching observation feedback (November 2020) states that 'You have a positive, purposeful and engaging learning environment fostered and your team work is seamless. Superb high quality modelling of roleplay and you extended all learning while planning in the moment. Provision is high quality and strong, positive relationships were displayed by all.' Following this observation, my headteacher wrote 'Thank you for all you do for the children - you really are amazing and we are lucky to have you!' Carly has a friendly and approachable manner with all members of staff, parents and children.' My induction report states that 'Carly has conducted herself in a professional manner at all times, forming very good relationships with the school community. She has modelled very good behaviour toward the children. She has had an excellent record with regard to following safeguarding procedures. Carly is a very good model of ethical and moral behaviour for the children. She enjoyed excellent relationships with her class. Carly had exceptional standards of punctuality and attendance. Carly followed pastoral policies well and contributed to the wider school. Carly was never unprofessional in dress or in behaviour. Carly fulfilled all aspects of the role as a class teacher including parent's evenings, hosting school events and writing reports. She worked collaboratively with colleagues and followed the lead from other professionals where appropriate.'
Teaching Experience:
I am a highly enthusiastic, caring and driven teacher with a wide range of experience teaching within the Early Years and Key Stage 1, following the English National Curriculum and Development Matters EYFS framework. I am deeply passionate about early childhood development and the relevant pedagogy; I enjoy in actively engaging with the latest research and training in this area. I am dedicated to meet the holistic needs of every child within my care as well as furthering my own personal and professional development. This is shown in my recent promotion to Wellbeing Coordinator of my school. I have worked in a wide range of schools, predominantly within the younger years, giving me broad experience across areas such as successful differentiation, progression, behaviour management techniques, and aspects such as working with children with SEN and learning EAL. Working within the international/independent sector has further ignited my passion for learning and teaching to the best of my ability. I enjoy working on a more one-to-one basis as I feel able to give every child the time that they need to make accelerated progress. I am highly thoughtful with my planning, and how I cater for individual children's needs. Feedback from parents is consistently positive and I try to make every learning experience interesting for the children I teach.
Tutoring Approach:
I am happy to tutor in-person within Bristol or online. My Specialism is Primary Education, particularly phonics, English, Language development and social skills but am willing to tutor other Primary subjects also. I try to make all teaching experiences memorable and fun for the children so that they are excited to continue furthering their skillset and knowledge.
