Taught in primary and secondary schools for 34 years. Over 20 years experience as a deputy headteacher. Have taught the full age range of primary school but mostly KS2 (age 7-11). My main role over the last 15 years has been a Year 6 SATS teacher so I have lots of experience for SATS preparation. I also did a lot of work in booster groups in Maths and English, moving children from level 3 to level 4. I have now been tutoring for a year with children aged between 7 and 14. Tutoring Approach:
My main aim is to improve the ability of the children in the subjects chosen. Most of my tutees find the one-to-one personal touch invaluable because it allows me to quickly identify the areas of difficulty and devise a learning programme to meet these at a pace which the tutee finds comfortable. Many of the parents have commented that one-to-one sessions have rapidly improved the tutee's confidence and has frequently resulted in them being moved up groups in the classroom. I am a professional geography researcher specialised in regional geography and urban sciences. I have gained my knowledge and expertise from universities across Europe (Pécs, Wolverhampton, Maribor, Zagreb, and Ljubljana). I am currently a PhD Aspirant at the University of Pécs, Hungary.

I have been mainly researching in the field 'geography of energy', but my interests link my specification to other scientific disciplines such as sustainability, environmental sciences, and landscape geography, and I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields.

During my years as a PhD Student, I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. In 2015, I officially became a teacher after successfully completing my PGCE at the Birmingham City University in England.

As a teacher I have also gained experience in a prison setting teaching mathematics to a wide age range and ability of students and different learning levels, whilst I have been able to use the knowledge that I obtained from the course in practice.

Teaching Experience:
Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education.

For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. But the implementation of this new knowledge may be challenging, that is why you have to keep thinking of new teaching methods to improve the quality of the subject that you are teaching. For this reason, it is essential to assist the younger generation for them to become capable to deal with geography related topics and issues.

An outstanding Grammar High school Maths teacher, I teach Maths up to A-Levels and beyond and have been teaching for 10 years now.

Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified Maths Teacher (QTS) registered with UK National College of Teaching and Leadership. I work in an outstandingly high achieving Grammar school near London.

So far I have tutored over 100 students on a 1-1 basis in the past 7 years alone. This is over 4000 hours of tutoring (40 weeks for each student a year X 100 students = 4000 hours)!

Moreover, I work as a Grammar school teacher and I am required to deliver outstanding lessons in accordance with the OFSTED Framework. Hence I have an accurate and in-depth knowledge of the most recent syllabus changes and the exam boards. With this immense experience, I have developed an approach which is very simple. I make the lessons fun and engaging. I try to promote interest in the subject so learning Maths becomes fun and an ongoing natural process. Students take this into the school environment and start seeing the results immediately. This reduces the burden from Maths and hence my students can focus on other subjects and achieve well holistically. (It's not about getting an A* just in Maths. I know that!!)

Tutoring Approach:
Teaching Pedagogy: The vast majority of One-2-One tutors simply 'turn-up-and-teach' without adequate preparation. Maths is mostly about 'understanding', and less about 'throw up facts'. A tutor gets ONE CHANCE to impart 'understanding' in a clear and coherent way. Not having prepared and risking an incomplete, confused or incoherent explanation instills confusion in the student, rather than confidence.

• Regular feedback and homework: Most tutors either set no homework at all or thoughtlessly set exercises from a textbook containing inappropriate questions. My homework is specifically written to complement the lesson, containing some questions designed for routine practice and some questions designed to challenge the student; encouraging them to 'think' and to develop their logical capacity.

• Exam Practice: I give students plenty of past paper practice - but only at the right time, once they have a deep understanding of all of the individual topics within the syllabus. Far too many tutors use exam papers to 'teach' from, which means they are setting papers when the student isn't ready: The upshot of that is the student's scores fluctuate wildly and their confidence is destroyed.
The lessons are invigorating, inspirational and cutting edge as I keep a very thorough hold on my subject.

I am very experienced in teaching having coached volleyball for the past 6 years. Working with children from ages 10 all the way up to members of the university team. Hello, I'm Holly. I am 28 years old and a competent and confident Maths teacher. I am very passionate about helping students feel they can accomplish anything.

I currently teach in a secondary school in Oxford and have been there for the past three years. Prior to this for three and a half years I tutored students, up to and including, GCSE level - foundation and higher tier - in another secondary school.
Being a teacher gives me an insight and experience of what students go through every day - attempting problems and convincing themselves they cannot answer any of it. -Due to my performance as a tutor, the school later paid me to teach maths to underachieving students at GCSE.

-The next year, I was appointed as 'Head of Mathematics' at Route 121, where I had the responsibility of training around 40 Maths tutors from the year below, creating suitable maths materials for them to use, and overseeing the sessions to help with any issues they had.

-At the end of the year, I was invited to the school's annual prize giving, where I was presented with the prestigious Neil Harts prize for 'Outstanding student support work' as Head of mathematics, in front a crowd which included the guest of honour: The Baroness Thornhill MBE, who presented me with the award.

-I have now tutored multiple students through several online platforms over the last academic year, all of whom have left a positive review.

Tutoring Approach:
Every time I tutor, I make it my aim to be as approachable as possible. I always try to explain everything clearly and stress the importance of asking questions about the subject no matter how unrelated they may seem at the time. I also make it my priority to use our time efficiently so that the maximum amount of knowledge can be taken away from the session.

I have access to premium Maths resources and also personally hand-write learning materials to provide the highest quality service possible. I also encourage those I tutor to message me throughout the week if they have a burning maths question they need help with, to which I will happily respond when I'm next available, whether this is by phone call, video call, or simply a message to answer a short question (all free of charge).
