Personal Description:
I am a PGCE-qualified teacher with two Master's degrees, and I also serve as a Cambridge International examiner. My teaching expertise covers Mandarin GCSE (9-1), IGCSE, GCE (A level), HSK, Japanese GCSE (9-1), and JLPT qualifications. I teach my students both on-site and via Zoom for private students.

Teaching Experience:

I teach both Mandarin and Japanese at local independent schools and universities, and I am also an experienced private tutor. I instruct both simplified and traditional Chinese, as well as Japanese, to both native and non-native students, including professionals. Over the past decade, my students have consistently achieved outstanding results in Edexcel Chinese (9-1) and Japanese GCSEs (9-1), earning A* and Grade 9. Additionally, they have excelled with As in A-level Chinese.

I've successfully tutored numerous students who pursued further 'Oriental studies' at Oxford University, completed an MPhil in Chinese studies at Oxford, and Japanese at Leeds University and Cardiff University.

In addition, I possess a strong working knowledge of the national curriculum and am very familiar with the demands and expectations of both state and independent schooling.

Tutoring Approach:

Encouraging, effective, student-centered approach, and developing a love for learning.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about teaching languages, mostly orientals, and also coaching martial arts and self defence. I coach the IWTA-EWTO-WingTsun 梁挺詠春拳.

In the first 12 weeks of the beginners program you'll learn the basics for a proactive and "pre-emptive" self defence and to deal with the most "common" types of attacks. This is the Blitz-Defence program.

Afterward you start a more sophisticated training program where you learn to deal with an aggressor in a less violent way by using our unique tactile skills training method.

I can assure you, you will terminate every lesson by learning something new and useful! All I need is your concentration.

Due to the contact nature of this martial art I cam only teach in person and not online

Teaching Experience:

Currently tutoring Italian (advanced level) and Japanese (basic level) in all the 4 skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

January 2012 - PRESENT: I have been teaching Italian language since January 2012 on 1-2-1 base and via skype when I am abroad.

February 2012 - April 2012: I taught Japanese language for absolute beginners via skype.

April 2010 - February 2012: I taught at The Mill Languages School, in Macclesfield town centre: Mandarin, Japanese, German. In particular I have taught German language to a tailored group to refresh their skills.

August 2015 - 2016. Tutoring Japanese language to beginner level via skype. I taught to school teachers who are planning to travel to Japan and teach English, they need a minimum fluency to go by.

....however; nothing can beat the experience I have matured over these past 2 years. I need your full committment over a term period (3 months). I need a quite learning environment where I can focus on your progress; either a public library or my house; coffee shop may work depending on the time we agree.

Tutoring Approach:

I am based in Macclesfield and I teach in an informal and yet methodical way; I can teach colloquial and formal languages.

As for martial art for self-defence (WingTsun Kungfu 梁挺詠春拳) I have been teaching privately at different venues.
Each 1-2-1 class has to be booked. I combine the Kungfu system with my experience in working with body awareness and body technique at contact.
This is a very diverse method of teaching in comparison to the mainstream as it involves not just the purely choreographic aspect but a more comprehensive.

Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 34 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and N5/ N4 level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I'm currently only teaching via Skype, as I have a baby and face-to-face lessons are impractical at the moment. Once she starts nursery, I may be able to offer some lessons at my classroom one morning a week.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*. I'm currently teaching around 15 different students 1 to 1, and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

When students attend my lessons, I like to think that they come not only to learn, but for the experience. I deliver fun, relaxed, friendly lessons where my students can feel comfortable and just enjoy learning something they're interested in. I write and provide all of my own lesson materials, and adapt them to my student's learning style - and then mix in some games to help practice the new vocabulary!

I also encourage my students to message me with questions, or to send pictures of their work for discussions outside of lessons too - so if you're ever stuck during your studies, always know that you've got someone to ask!

Personal Description:
I am a Japanese language teacher, a native speaker who studied for a bachelor degree in art in Portland, Oregon. I have lived in Tokyo and Osaka where I worked in the fashion industry and import/export business. I now live in England with my husband and two children.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching Japanese to both adults and children one-to-one and in small groups. A typical lesson will include practice of general or topic focused conversations, related grammar study, key vocabulary usage and pronunciation. As an award winning student of calligraphy, my speciality is teaching the Japanese writing system.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a patient and friendly manner allowing students to develop at their own pace while giving lots of encouragement to make sure students achieve their goals. I am flexible as to the content of lessons and will tailor-make courses to reflect students character and interests making the learning experience as enjoyable as possible.

★Cancellation Policy: Due to too many cancellations without advance notice (No Show) recently, sadly I decided to introduce a cancellation policy. Should you cancel your lesson, please let me know 12 hours before the booked slot for no charge cancellation. I am reasonable to discuss the case if it's an emergency including illness. Otherwise, 100% of your tuition will be charged.

The sad cases include...
Student A attended only 3 lessons and 5 No Shows in 8 weeks, paid for only 2 lessons and completely disappeared afterwards. No answer to my phone, text, or email.
Student B had too many last minute cancellations just 10min before our lesson while I had paid for non-refundable childcare for my son during the lesson hours. Eventually she hardly made any progress after a year and discontinued as a result of discussion.

★Tuition payment: Bank transfer. Account detail will be provided once we both agreed to start lessons.

Many thanks.

Kuniko

Personal Description:
I had been a full time native Japanese teacher/lecturer in the UK between 2006 and 2018 after completing MA in Japanese Applied Linguistics at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in 2006. I have become a professional private teacher for individuals and companies as I realised my passion is to support those students who are keen on improving Japanese through private tuitions. I have established an academy of Japanese Studies since 2015.

Teaching Experience:

My cooperate training contracts
- SONY (2016-present)
- Tokyo Esque (2017-present)
- Deloitte (2017-2018)
- Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ (2017-2018)
- Ashurst (2016)
- Polar Capital (2015-2016)
- British Museum (2015)

In the past, I taught the Japanese language to
-> the students of BA in Japanese at SOAS (2011 & 2014-2018),
-> the general public, university students and business people at King`s College London (2009-2017),
-> the UK diplomats at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2013 - 2016),
-> the president and the top managers at Dentsu Aegis Network (2013 - 2014),
-> the students of BA in Japanese at the University of Sheffield (2006 - 2009).

Tutoring Approach:

My passion for language teaching is to contribute to the society where people need more global minded attitudes and mutual understanding. I will help you understand Japanese culture from the native perspective. By absorbing the Japanese mind set, you will begin to perceive, process, and express yourself in an authentic Japanese way. In the lessons (including online lessons), we will explore the speech and body language of native Japanese speakers - this will increase your awareness of the feelings that lie behind Japanese expressions. By following this approach, you will use a more appropriate grammatical structure and word usage, allowing you to speak Japanese more naturally.

Personal Description:
I studied Japanese at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and got my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Japan. Having spent 7 years living in Japan, I have level 1 (N1) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).  I also have skills in traditional Japanese arts, such as tea ceremony and calligraphy. I want to share my passion for the Japanese language with everybody, from complete beginners to students going to Japan in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years of experience in private tutoring and teaching at the university level. I have successfully tutored students who got jobs or enrolled at universities in Japan, as well as passed JLPT N5-N3 levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different. Every student's approach to studying is different. Every student's objective of studying Japanese is different. I take all of it into account, and tailor classes for each student. We will decide on realistic pace and goals, and by combining our efforts will try to achieve them.

I also offer a fast-track Japanese language course - the methodology I was trained with at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. It is a comprehensive course and you build up the skills in all areas of the language - starting with speaking and listening, then followed by reading and writing. In one year you should be able to have daily conversations (equivalent to JLPT N4), and in two to three years you would be able to comprehend coherent conversations in everyday situations and beyond (equivalent to JLPT N3).

Personal Description:
こんにちは
My name is Yuki, I am native Japanese, however I've been living in the UK for 25 years.
Having experience teaching all levels of Japanese, from beginner through to advanced; I am truly passionate about teaching the language and culture.

My 1 to 1 online sessions are tailored specifically to you and your goals.
There is a free "consultation" before starting lessons to get to know each other and your goals; £27 per hour thereafter.
Please feel free to message me with any questions, I will usually reply within a few hours.
I look forward to meeting you.

ありがとうございました。
どうぞ、よろしくおねがいします。

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in broadening students' skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Many students enjoy learning all aspects of the language and cultural topics,
so I prepare tailored exercises before each lesson.

Beginner Level:
I utilise the popular "Genki" textbook for teaching Japanese to foreigners.
I have completed an online course on effectively using this textbook.
Additionally, I participate in a monthly online Japanese study group with a Japanese teacher.

Intermediate Level:
For learners who have completed the "Genki 1and 2" textbook, I transition them to using the "Intermediate Japanese Across the four language skills Quartet" and "Tobira gateway to advanced Japanese" textbook.
This prepares them for advanced-level studies.

JLPT Preparation Students:
Preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) engage in reading level-appropriate books,
practicing sentence patterns, reviewing vocabulary and kanji, and taking mock tests.

Travel Preparation For those traveling to Japan:
I teach essential phrases for everyday situations such as greetings, ordering in restaurants, and navigating public transportation.
I also provide pronunciation correction as needed.

GCSE:
I have experience teaching the new Pearson Edexcel Japanese language course, established in 2017.
This course is popular and notably challenging for younger students compared to other foreign languages.

Tutoring Approach:

My sessions are tailored to you. You decide what you want to learn, how quickly you want to achieve your goals and which areas you want to target. We share folders and files in DropBox for worksheets and other materials, and use Google Sheets to share and track your personal progress.

Personal Description:
Experienced Native Japanese Tutor, based in Chehire. Fun, Friendly & Personalised Lessons. All levels are welcome✨

Hello! I'm Keiko, a native Japanese tutor based in Cheshire, in the UK. I love helping people from all backgrounds not just learn Japanese, but truly enjoy the experience and feel confident using it in everyday conversations.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking and discovering delicious food from around the world . I love travelling, spending time with my Jack Russell Terrier Stella, and learning new things myself - at the moment, I'm studying Spanish 🇪🇸 and having fun with guitar, drumming and dancing. As a fellow learner, I really understand the ups and downs of studying a new language.

Whether you're just starting out, returning after a break, or looking to build fluency, I'll guide you in a supportive and enjoyable way - no need to be perfect, just open to learning at your own pace. Lessons with me are friendly, relaxed, and focused on steady progress.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Japanese for over 10 years, both online and in person, to learners of all ages - from young children and teenagers to adults at every level. Each lesson is carefully tailored to suit your individual needs, goals, and interests.

Lessons are taught in Japanese, English, or a mix - whichever you prefer - and always at a pace that works for you. My focus is on making the language practical, accessible, and enjoyable, no matter your reason for learning.

📚 Here's what you can expect at different levels:

🌱 Beginners

- Learn hiragana and katakana step-by-step
- Build useful phrases for daily life and travel
- Begin speaking from the very first lessons
- Pick up natural expressions and everyday slang

🌿 Intermediate learners

- Improve fluency through speaking and listening
- Use grammar and vocabulary in real-world contexts
- Express opinions and ideas clearly
- Start enjoying anime, manga or reading simple articles

🌸 Advanced learners

- Speak more fluently and naturally
- Learn formal and business Japanese (keigo)
- Discuss culture, news, and social issues in Japanese
- Understand subtle, native-level expressions and nuance

In every lesson, you'll receive:
✔ Clear, simple explanations of grammar
✔ Personalised lesson plans
✔ Speaking and listening practice
✔ Encouragement and support - mistakes are always welcome here!

Tutoring Approach:

✨If you've ever thought:
"I want to speak Japanese naturally",
"I love anime or Japanese culture and want to understand more",
or "I'm learning for travel, work, or personal growth" - you're in the right place.

Many learners feel nervous about speaking, or have struggled to stay motivated in the past. That's completely normal - and you're definitely not alone. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited about your progress.

✨In my lessons:

- You can learn at your own pace in a relaxed, friendly environment

- It's perfectly fine to make mistakes - that's how we learn

- Lessons are designed just for you, with your goals in mind

- You'll build real communication skills, not just textbook knowledge

Learning Japanese should feel fun and rewarding, not stressful or overwhelming. I'm here to support you every step of the way and help you enjoy the journey.

Let's build your Japanese skills together - one step at a time, with confidence and a smile. I look forward to meeting you in our lesson!
