Personal Description:
I am a PGCE-qualified teacher with two Master's degrees, and I also serve as a Cambridge International examiner. My teaching expertise covers Mandarin GCSE (9-1), IGCSE, GCE (A level), HSK, Japanese GCSE (9-1), and JLPT qualifications. I teach my students both on-site and via Zoom for private students.

Teaching Experience:

I teach both Mandarin and Japanese at local independent schools and universities, and I am also an experienced private tutor. I instruct both simplified and traditional Chinese, as well as Japanese, to both native and non-native students, including professionals. Over the past decade, my students have consistently achieved outstanding results in Edexcel Chinese (9-1) and Japanese GCSEs (9-1), earning A* and Grade 9. Additionally, they have excelled with As in A-level Chinese.

I've successfully tutored numerous students who pursued further 'Oriental studies' at Oxford University, completed an MPhil in Chinese studies at Oxford, and Japanese at Leeds University and Cardiff University.

In addition, I possess a strong working knowledge of the national curriculum and am very familiar with the demands and expectations of both state and independent schooling.

Personal Description:
I am a Japanese national who has completed eight Japanese language beginners courses (10 weeks each) as a language instructor at colleges based in Liverpool and Manchester. In a formal course review exercise, I received excellent ratings from my college students with respect to the various teaching components of the course.

I am adept at recognising how best to target my teaching approach, particularly with respect to students who have little or no knowledge of the Japanese language using my fluency in verbal and written English and Japanese.

My teaching experience includes 18 months as a language instructor to college students in Japan, in one-to-one, and group teaching as an employee at a language school. In addition, I was employed in the Japan university sector as a translator of English to Japanese and vice versa, and as a business translator involving UK and Japanese companies. I therefore have language teaching experience acquired over several years in various settings.

My doctoral degree is sociology-based supporting the teacher-student interaction for making solid progress in learning.

Teaching Experience:

100 weeks in beginners Japanese at language colleges in Liverpool and Manchester
12 months providing English language instruction to college students in Japan
18 months English-Japanese language translator at a Japanese University
12 months in organising and translating and interpreting for two Japanese cultural exchange trips
Over 10 years in translating and interpreting various Japanese/UK business people
Online tutoring for 4 years both in groups and individuals. Full HD video camera/microphone and Zoom/Skype.
UK-Japanese business language interpreter and translator
Multiple students taught in private sessions from a wide background that includes, teachers, business professionals, university and college students, and other backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide personal tutoring and group tutoring as required in a large classroom specially set-up for teaching with an approachable and friendly style to engage students in fully comprehending an unfamiliar language. Tuition is provided in verbal and written Japanese using language props as an aid to understanding, with textbooks and specialist Hiragana teaching materials. I have excellent whiteboard writing skills and I am comfortable at teaching in both formal and less formal surroundings. Tuition can be arranged on a regular or irregular timetable according to the needs of the particular student(s).

Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 34 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and N5/ N4 level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I'm currently only teaching via Skype, as I have a baby and face-to-face lessons are impractical at the moment. Once she starts nursery, I may be able to offer some lessons at my classroom one morning a week.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*. I'm currently teaching around 15 different students 1 to 1, and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

When students attend my lessons, I like to think that they come not only to learn, but for the experience. I deliver fun, relaxed, friendly lessons where my students can feel comfortable and just enjoy learning something they're interested in. I write and provide all of my own lesson materials, and adapt them to my student's learning style - and then mix in some games to help practice the new vocabulary!

I also encourage my students to message me with questions, or to send pictures of their work for discussions outside of lessons too - so if you're ever stuck during your studies, always know that you've got someone to ask!

Personal Description:
Fully qualified teacher of Japanese and Russian languages (all levels).

I prepare students for GCSE and A-level exams, as well as assess exam results for colleges. I also assist students with all levels of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and TRKI (The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language).
I currently teach private individuals, groups, as well as some government organisations and corporate entities.

Being native in Russian, and an expert in the Japanese & English languages, I am acutely aware of the differences between English & Japanese and English & Russian languages, their specific capabilities, nuances and requirements.
I focus on teaching methods that are designed to make learning interactive and fun. I have developed my own strategy for delivering concise and meaningful learning methods to my students to assist their understanding. I enjoy teaching languages; it gives my students an opportunity to communicate with new people and expand their world.

I obtained a Master's Degree in diplomacy/international relations at a top-ranking Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO) with Japanese and English languages.

In 2000 I undertook the internationally recognised Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) achieving a 'Level 1' pass (the highest attainable level).
From 2000 until 2010 I lived in Japan, and worked in a senior position for a leading Japanese technology company in Tokyo. During this time it afforded me an excellent 'real world' understanding of the Japanese language, its nuances and the fascinating Japanese culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Russian and Japanese languages for about 8 years.
References can be provided.
This website doesn't allow students to leave feedback, but once I have your details I will send you a link to where I have 50+ 5* feedback.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tutoring on Japanese and Russian languages for all levels from beginner to advanced. My lessons are tailor-made for each person, so no matter what your level or interest, I can ensure you will achieve your goals. Therefore, if you are looking to learn for a holiday, or as a main language I'll be able to help!

Personal Description:
Hi currently due to the Covid-19 situation, I teach Japanese via Skype. (on line).
I also use e-mail correspondences about writings (students scan their work and send them to me via e-mail), as well as Skype.

I do GCSE Japanese, general conversation in Japanese, essay writing in Japanese, etc., based upon your requests.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in a particular field to study.

I also do JLPT-exam based lessons - (one of my students is aiming at JLPT N1 level.) upon students' request.

Thank you very much.

***************************************************************************************************************************************

I am a native Japanese, and I have a full academic record about the education of Japanese language.
Also I have professional carrier history about teaching Japanese for a non-native Japanese speakers at reputable companies.
I am also a professional interpreter, and translator in Japanese - English and vice versa.

I have rich professional experience in Japan and in England for over 20 years.

I have double degree in literature and linguistics (Master's degree in linguistics, too).

In recent years, I have involvement of the school activities to read Japanese and English books.

All students are happy to be taught by me, as I have rich experience of teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I was also used to be a professional Japanese tutor for non-native Japanese (Malay trainee) hired by an international textile company, Toyobo in the past.
I also conduct private tutoring at home. Examples of my students' nationalities: British, Canadian, Malay, American.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning a foreign language is very challenging. Especially people who are not familiar with the new language, because they do not see the words and the grammatical structures in common with their language.
However, some people need to study a foreign language to achieve good score of an exam.
In this case, we have to focus on a short-term goal. Specific exercise is necessary to achieve the goal.
I can offer the various options of the package that are based on a specific goal, and on the current level of a student. By focusing a specific goal, students can achieve to the level they wished for in a very short term.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

Personal Description:
Hi! こんにちは!

I am Erina, a native Japanese teacher regularly tutoring adult learners via online Skype lessons. My home town is Tokyo, where I was teaching Japanese. I've been teaching Japanese for 6 years for beginners and lower intermediate (JLPT N5 to N4). I can also offer conversation practice for upper intermediate to advance levels. I'm very patient and enthusiastic teacher who tailors each lesson for the individual depending on the students interests and goals.

I mainly use a text book called Genki in my lessons which covers reading, writing, speaking and listening. The most difficult areas of Japanese language learning tends to be reading and writing, but I would like focus more towards listening and speaking. Although you need to know the Japanese alphabets of Hiragana and Katakana to be able to understand accurate pronunciations, isn't it more fun and motivated if you would be able to pick up some Japanese thorough movie, anime and songs you like!

In person lesson is limited slot and different price, please ask me if you need more information.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years of experience in private tutoring and teaching at the university level. I have successfully tutored students who got jobs or enrolled at universities in Japan, as well as passed JLPT N5-N3 levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different. Every student's approach to studying is different. Every student's objective of studying Japanese is different. I take all of it into account, and tailor classes for each student. We will decide on realistic pace and goals, and by combining our efforts will try to achieve them.

I also offer a fast-track Japanese language course - the methodology I was trained with at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. It is a comprehensive course and you build up the skills in all areas of the language - starting with speaking and listening, then followed by reading and writing. In one year you should be able to have daily conversations (equivalent to JLPT N4), and in two to three years you would be able to comprehend coherent conversations in everyday situations and beyond (equivalent to JLPT N3).

Personal Description:
こんにちは
My name is Yuki, I am native Japanese, however I've been living in the UK for 25 years.
Having experience teaching all levels of Japanese, from beginner through to advanced; I am truly passionate about teaching the language and culture.

My 1 to 1 online sessions are tailored specifically to you and your goals.
There is a free "consultation" before starting lessons to get to know each other and your goals; £27 per hour thereafter.
Please feel free to message me with any questions, I will usually reply within a few hours.
I look forward to meeting you.

ありがとうございました。
どうぞ、よろしくおねがいします。

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in broadening students' skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Many students enjoy learning all aspects of the language and cultural topics,
so I prepare tailored exercises before each lesson.

Beginner Level:
I utilise the popular "Genki" textbook for teaching Japanese to foreigners.
I have completed an online course on effectively using this textbook.
Additionally, I participate in a monthly online Japanese study group with a Japanese teacher.

Intermediate Level:
For learners who have completed the "Genki 1and 2" textbook, I transition them to using the "Intermediate Japanese Across the four language skills Quartet" and "Tobira gateway to advanced Japanese" textbook.
This prepares them for advanced-level studies.

JLPT Preparation Students:
Preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) engage in reading level-appropriate books,
practicing sentence patterns, reviewing vocabulary and kanji, and taking mock tests.

Travel Preparation For those traveling to Japan:
I teach essential phrases for everyday situations such as greetings, ordering in restaurants, and navigating public transportation.
I also provide pronunciation correction as needed.

GCSE:
I have experience teaching the new Pearson Edexcel Japanese language course, established in 2017.
This course is popular and notably challenging for younger students compared to other foreign languages.

Tutoring Approach:

My sessions are tailored to you. You decide what you want to learn, how quickly you want to achieve your goals and which areas you want to target. We share folders and files in DropBox for worksheets and other materials, and use Google Sheets to share and track your personal progress.

Personal Description:
I studied French and Japanese as part of my degree in Applied Language and Translation Studies at Dublin City University and Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. As part of my degree, I also studied linguistics, and how to learn languages most effectively, given how the brain retains language. I have also taken the Irish Leaving Cert Japanese exam (A-Level equivalent) and Japanese Language Proficiency tests, so I have plenty of resources geared towards exams if that is your goal. If you are a more casual learner I am happy to make the lessons more fun and conversational, based on your preferences :)

Teaching Experience:

This year, I have taught my younger brother a 2 year higher level Japanese syllabus in 6 months for his Leaving Certificate exams, as he only found out in January there was a foreign language requirement for the course he wants to take in university. This was achieved through clever resources and study plan. With only 6 months tuition (one quarter of the usual 2 year syllabus time), my brother passed higher level Japanese with a grade equalling between 50-60%.

Other language teaching experience:
While in Japan I taught Japanese students English as a Foreign Language, from ages 4 to 20; in Ireland I gave casual English lessons to a Lithuanian woman who already had conversational English, but wanted to better understand certain English grammatical points; I also have a TEFL 160 course to teach English as a Foreign Language.

Other teaching experience:
I teach beginners piano every week from home.

Tutoring Approach:

Using the concepts learned in my Linguistics degree for language learning (L+1, Optimised Intervals for Repetition and Content Exposure for Memorisation Incentive), we will put a study plan in place with clever resources to ensure language learning is both fun and effective! We want our lessons to be so effective that we spend less time studying, and more time learning :)

Personal Description:
Experienced Native Japanese Tutor, based in Chehire. Fun, Friendly & Personalised Lessons. All levels are welcome✨

Hello! I'm Keiko, a native Japanese tutor based in Cheshire, in the UK. I love helping people from all backgrounds not just learn Japanese, but truly enjoy the experience and feel confident using it in everyday conversations.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking and discovering delicious food from around the world . I love travelling, spending time with my Jack Russell Terrier Stella, and learning new things myself - at the moment, I'm studying Spanish 🇪🇸 and having fun with guitar, drumming and dancing. As a fellow learner, I really understand the ups and downs of studying a new language.

Whether you're just starting out, returning after a break, or looking to build fluency, I'll guide you in a supportive and enjoyable way - no need to be perfect, just open to learning at your own pace. Lessons with me are friendly, relaxed, and focused on steady progress.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Japanese for over 10 years, both online and in person, to learners of all ages - from young children and teenagers to adults at every level. Each lesson is carefully tailored to suit your individual needs, goals, and interests.

Lessons are taught in Japanese, English, or a mix - whichever you prefer - and always at a pace that works for you. My focus is on making the language practical, accessible, and enjoyable, no matter your reason for learning.

📚 Here's what you can expect at different levels:

🌱 Beginners

- Learn hiragana and katakana step-by-step
- Build useful phrases for daily life and travel
- Begin speaking from the very first lessons
- Pick up natural expressions and everyday slang

🌿 Intermediate learners

- Improve fluency through speaking and listening
- Use grammar and vocabulary in real-world contexts
- Express opinions and ideas clearly
- Start enjoying anime, manga or reading simple articles

🌸 Advanced learners

- Speak more fluently and naturally
- Learn formal and business Japanese (keigo)
- Discuss culture, news, and social issues in Japanese
- Understand subtle, native-level expressions and nuance

In every lesson, you'll receive:
✔ Clear, simple explanations of grammar
✔ Personalised lesson plans
✔ Speaking and listening practice
✔ Encouragement and support - mistakes are always welcome here!

Tutoring Approach:

✨If you've ever thought:
"I want to speak Japanese naturally",
"I love anime or Japanese culture and want to understand more",
or "I'm learning for travel, work, or personal growth" - you're in the right place.

Many learners feel nervous about speaking, or have struggled to stay motivated in the past. That's completely normal - and you're definitely not alone. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited about your progress.

✨In my lessons:

- You can learn at your own pace in a relaxed, friendly environment

- It's perfectly fine to make mistakes - that's how we learn

- Lessons are designed just for you, with your goals in mind

- You'll build real communication skills, not just textbook knowledge

Learning Japanese should feel fun and rewarding, not stressful or overwhelming. I'm here to support you every step of the way and help you enjoy the journey.

Let's build your Japanese skills together - one step at a time, with confidence and a smile. I look forward to meeting you in our lesson!
