I am an Open University graduate having completed an BA(Hons) degree. I chose my own programme of study which consisted of French,English Language Studies with GCSE/Standard grade Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. After my degree, I undertook an A-level/Higher Grade Maths course and GCSE/Standard Grade level Latin course to keep my study skills fresh and updated whilst complimenting my degree.

I am an Italian national who has been living in Bristol since September 2012 and having had a long time experience as an Italian teacher for students who have participated in the AFS Intercultural Program, it has not been difficult to insert myself here as a private Italian teacher.

My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. I prioritise visual and audible resources over the others as my goal is to use my students' visual and emotional intelligence making connections with everyday life (hobbies, personal skills, family, work, etc.).
Practise is the key and I make sure we do it together through quick exercises, repeating grammar rules, providing more examples and comparing the solutions. There are NEVER silly questions and I'm happy to reply to all of them.

I love studying foreign languages like English and French and I also enjoy sharing my Italian culture with others. I have a degree in Economics. My exercises are based on books but not only often they are structured from modern instruments (app, online, journal, tv show etc.). If necessary I prepare scheme for my students and resume about some subjects that student would like to learn.

I am a very sunny and active girl. I really like travelling, getting to know new cultures, doing outdoor activities.

Teaching Experience:
Since I've been at university, I've started giving private lessons to high school kids, in maths, physics, science, grammar and english.
After university I worked as a teacher in a primary school, teaching the basics of various subjects to children aged 7 to 12.
In recent years I have started giving Italian lessons to teenagers and adults of different nationalities.

Tutoring Approach:
During my lessons I speak exclusively in Italian. I have found over the years that this is the most effective way to learn a language. I divide my lessons with a grammar part, exercises and I always leave a good space for free conversation.
My personal experience has taught me that making an effort to understand and not being afraid of making mistakes when speaking speeds up learning considerably.
