Personal Description:
My name is Ewan, I'm 36 years old and from Glasgow. After completing my BA (Hons) in Glasgow, I moved to Manchester to do a Master's in History; subsequently I completed my PGCE, MA in Education, and an MBA. Throughout this further study I have ran a History department, Humanities Faculty, and now run a Sixth Form College. I am a very patient and personable person, and really enjoying working on a one-to-one basis with students. I have a wide range of interests which I like to bring into teaching where appropriate; using films, music, visual and audio sources can make learning a bit more interesting and appeal to many students own personal learning style. However, there are times we cannot get away from doing the heavy lifting of learning knowledge; breaking challenging knowledge down and clarifying applying this to different exam styles is where my expertise lie.
Teaching Experience:
I currently teach History from Year 6 to Year 13 (KS3, 4 and 5) at a private international school where I hold a promoted post. Before this, I taught at schools in West Berkshire and Manchester. I have tutored throughout my teaching career, an aspect of my job that I really enjoy. I am proud of my students each of whom have worked hard to achieve their goals, whether securing places to study at Cambridge or Ivy League Colleges, or getting the grades to go wherever students dream destinations are. i consider it important to focus on developing the skills to pass the exam or earn a high mark on essays, however it's the tutee that is the boss!
Tutoring Approach:
Very happy to gear my approach around individual needs. Working outside of the UK, I conduct lessons online using Zoom. I am happy to answer emails, texts or chat on the phone or arrange additional online time between sessions to maintain momentum nd inspiration and make sure students stay on the right track. I like to use some multi-media (film, music and pictures) to make learning fun and help with source work. I am also keen to make sure students are fully prepared for exams, and have spent some time looking at how to approach question in these stressful situations.

I am able to tutor GCSE English Language GCSE English Literature, GCSE Maths, ESOL English Literature, GCSE Psychology and Media Studies to A level. I have given tuition to individuals and small groups of students at undergraduate level and offer friendly, relaxed lessons individually, or in groups up to two people, tailored exactly to what the pupil requires
Teaching Experience:
I have experience of one to one tutoring with both school and college students and adults, plus larger group teaching. I have been doing private tuition in my own home for ten years now and its better for students to come to me as its a pressure free environment.
Tutoring Approach:
I prefer to teach from my home:
My home is quiet and fairly minimalistic. Lessons are held in my offce and I have a computer and Ipad that students can use.
I use the first meeting to talk about any difficulties in learning the subject in a formal educational setting and discuss any specific learning difficulties you may have. We can chat about strategies to help you learn more effectively and I will work with you at a pace that suits you. I will also ask the student to complete a learning styles questionnaire.
To the best of my ability I try to make subjects interesting to young people and re-engage them. I also encourage students to bring along any work they may be struggling with so I can go through it with them. I can help you get to where you need to be. Please only contact me and purchase my details if you are genuinely interested in my services. No time wasters please. Please note if you require me to travel to you there will be a charge and it will depend on my availability.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Nicole.
I studied History and English at the University of Oxford (Wadham College). I graduated with Double First Class Honours in 2010, finishing top in my academic year.
My excellent results reflect several important characteristics: my exceptional academic ability, my high academic standards, my mastery of study-skills, and my dedicated and conscientious work ethic. I look to encourage these qualities in all of my students.
More importantly though, my outstanding results are a result of my absolute love for, knowledge of, and commitment to, my subjects. I am a lover of learning, and aim to help my students to find a similar excitement and passion for their studies.
Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience working with young people and adults in educational or supplementary learning contexts.
I have been tutoring privately for over a decade. My students have come from a diverse age range - spanning from the very young to the much older. I am comfortable working with children, teenagers and adults, and experienced in adapting for a range of access needs.
I have tutored students in History; English Literature; English Language; reading comprehension; speaking, listening, reading and writing skills; primary level Maths; entrance exams; university applications.
I have tutored multiple 11+ and common entrance applicants, including those applying to competitive London private schools. I have a 100% success rate for acceptance into one of the family's desired schools.
I am also experienced in mentoring potential Oxbridge applicants, and advising on study and revision skills.
I am also an experienced theatre practitioner, working regularly for the Theatre Royal Plymouth, the Barbican Theatre, the Exeter Northcott Theatre and additional regional and national theatre companies. I am experienced working with a range of groups, including primary school age, adults, adults and young people with complex and multiple needs and/or learning difficulties, and children from migrant or refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds, and am committed to making sessions accessible to everyone.
I work regularly as a facilitator on specialist cultural educational projects in schools. This involves designing and delivering programmes of work and one off workshops or extended learning days for primary and secondary aged pupils, including those with complex and challenging behaviour.
After graduating, I spent a year working full-time as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school, covering classes in all subjects across the secondary curriculum, for students ranging from 11 - 16 years of age, and offering specialist teaching support for GCSE and A-Level English classes. This gave me the opportunity to observe and work with students of all abilities and learning styles, and to learn how to adapt my teaching style accordingly.
Tutoring Approach:
I am passionate about learning - and look to encourage a similar excitement in my students. In History this might be through some particularly fascinating or gruesome details, or in English, through exploring a beautiful line of poetry.
I am very individual-student orientated, so I seek always to establish each individual's aims for tutoring, and then we will work together toward these. For one student, this might be to know how to deconstruct a poem; for another, how to write a good essay.
With some students, I will plan structured lessons, whereas others prefer simply to earmark time with a dedicated tutor, before deciding what to do themselves at the time. Perhaps they will bring their homework, a study-book, or something they are stuck with - whatever the case, I aim always to listen and respond to the needs of each individual student.
With all my students (but especially the younger ones) I am a big believer in making learning FUN! I therefore often design lessons which use a variety of practical learning activities to keep them stimulated, rather than just relying on book-learning. In the past, I've mummified a teddy, conducted a press conference, and taught times-tables via Grandmother's footsteps! I find this to be particularly effective for students who struggle with concentration.
I believe that when offered education through the right methods, everyone is able to maximise their own ability to learn. Having completed a full-time degree and worked extensively in educational environments and contexts, I am equipped with plenty of different learning methods - including, through my theatrical background, more kinaesthetic or practical approaches, particularly suited to students who may struggle with 'book learning'. With my students, I look to discover which approaches work well for them, and then to use these to help them master the subject material. This in turn helps students to gain in confidence and self-motivation as they discover their own capacity to learn - and enjoy learning.
If students are working toward exams, I first seek to establish what a student feels his or her weaknesses are, and then focus tuition on areas or skills which will help them to plug the gaps or grow in strength and confidence. If more general support is needed, I will combine working with core material with a focus on ensuring that they have a solid grasp of the assessment objectives, question-types, and what the exam will look like, so that they can go into the exam confident and well-prepared. I also find that practice, practice, practice is essential, so we'll often work with past papers.
I seek always to establish clear lesson goals, and to review material learnt several times within each lesson, ensuring that the student feels comfortable with using the material learnt, rather than swamped by facts and lists.

Personal Description:
- I am currently working as a full time tutor after completing my Masters Degree in Social Policy at LSE. Before this, I was studying a BA in History at UCL. I am absolutely passionate about education and helping students to achieve their full potential. I take a personalised approach that caters directly to the individual. I have been tutoring for 5 years.
Teaching Experience:
- I have held various posts at my school like History Buddy, Maths Support Club. Through doing this I feel I have gained a sense of nurturing and helping people, which I feel would be beneficial in a tuition role.
Tutoring Approach:
First and foremost I hope to instil an appreciation of the subject in the student. I am able to explore the syllabus in a fun way. This can be particularly important if they have had a negative experience thus far with their own teachers. I feel able to relate to students as I have in all likelihood recently experienced similar problems myself and could thus be more accessible than a parent or teacher.
I am able to provide an interesting, insightful and dynamic way of learning.

Personal Description:
Hello, I'm Zoe. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, studying English Language and Literature at St Peter's College.
I'm an experienced tutor and I believe that with a good, solid education everyone's opportunities in life become better. I am patient and very committed to getting the best from my students.
Prior to university I attended Streatham and Clapham High School (8-16), and Wallington County Grammar School (16-18).
I completed A-Levels in English, Medieval History, French, Classical Civilisation and Philosophy AS Level.
My main interest is English Literature but I am ever-keen to use my French, and am also passionate about History, both ancient and modern. At GCSE level I opted to study primarily languages, namely French, German, Latin and Ancient Greek, and I am so grateful for the skills and linguistic understanding these diverse subjects have given me.
I am a keen reader, theatre-goer and traveller; I also enjoy sports, particularly running, netball and cycling. I live in southwest London and am happy to travel.
Teaching Experience:
I have plenty of experience tutoring people of all ages, and am currently specialising in English, French and History lessons and entrance/university interview preparation lessons.
I have worked as a temporary assistant at Faulkner House School in South Kensington during my Easter holiday from university in 2010 (children aged 3-11).
At school I worked on a mentor programme helping students from younger years with their French speaking practice and also with extra English.
I have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification.
I worked with a local Brownie pack from 2006-8 which involved working with children aged 7-10, running a variety of crafts activities and games.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a firm believer in the ability of each person to achieve academic success through hard work, and also understand the need for patience and perseverance to succeed.
Having benefited from one-on-one tutoring during my own education for those subjects I struggled with at school, I have first hand experience of the importance of a good tutor and just how much difference one can make.
I have a real passion for the subjects I studied at university and at A-Level and I communicate that, whilst simultaneously providing relevant and informed tuition sessions.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Eve!
I have a First-Class Honours BA in Theatre, Film and Television from the University of Bristol. Being at the earliest-established performance department in the UK meant I was able to draw on a wealth of academic and practical knowledge and facilities. I later completed an MA at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and Birkbeck College, receiving a Distinction. Projects I have worked on include the More Than Words Festival with BBC Radio 4 and an audio tour in collaboration with the mayor of Bristol.
Alongside my creative career, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of performance theory and practice with others. I can help you and/or your child with written exams or essays. I can also support you in developing your practical skills! I recently helped a student to successfully gain a place at Central School of Speech and Drama and have previously guided students in writing their own playtexts/screenplays.

My practical specialties include voice coaching, playwriting, character development and audition technique.
Tutoring Approach:
I always come prepared so as to maximise your time within the session. I will help you to gain a broad understanding of what cinema/theatre involve as well as helping you to narrow down and analyse key sections of a script, live performance or film - an attention to detail is what will help you to achieve fantastic results!
If you require help with grammar, vocabulary etc. we can read through your work and identify errors. I will teach you simple techniques to make your writing more fluent and I will help you to draw out your own original, creative ideas!
In between my degrees, I co-founded a successful non-profit organisation which I led as CEO for two years. I am, therefore, very experienced with project management so can help you to draw up and stick to a simple study/project timetable if desired.
I work with an increasing number of students across the world, using free digital tools to make the sessions interesting and collaborative.

Personal Description:
I am a Tutor in English for Academic Purposes at a large UK university. In this role I teach both Academic English and General English.
Over the past thirteen years I have taught in the UK, Italy and Libya. I have taught in private schools, state schools and universities. In addition, I have taught students of all levels from beginners to advanced and all ages from 3 to adult.
I am an experienced online tutor with over 250 hours taught via Skype.
Teaching Experience:
Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes at the University of South Wales (5 years)
Teacher Trainer/English Teacher British Council Libya (3 years)
British Institutes Trento, Italy (2 years)
Private tutor in TESOL (2 years)
Cambridge IELTS examiner
Cambridge IGCSE Assistant Examiner
General English, Academic English and English for Specific Purposes (e.g. Business English)
Tutoring British and European History ages 11-18 (UK)
Tutoring Approach:
In teaching English as a foreign language I follow the communicative approach. This means plenty of communication between the student and tutor, rather than spending the whole lesson working through grammar exercises.
My lessons are student centred, which means that each lesson is about the student. My materials are carefully tailored to the individual student and not a 'one text fits all' course book. I try to make my lessons relevant to my student's needs, for example, if you are a chef I base my lessons on cookery; if you work in a shop I base my lessons around retail; and if you are studying for IELTS or residency, I will tutor you for that. Just tell me what you want to do and I will do my very best to help you realise your dream.

Personal Description:
Hi,
My name is Liam, I have both courtroom experience and am a PhD candidate at Aberystwyth University.
In my degree, I worked at a charity called Veterans Legal Link where I gained much of my legal experience. While at this charity we focused on providing legal support to Veterans and their families on any topic that would arise. Through both this and working at solicitors firms since then I have gained experience in both the form filling side of the law and actual courtroom advocacy.
In my degree, I scored a 2:1 and in my Master's, I scored a Distinction. I have experience teaching and tutoring and genuinely enjoy the job.
Teaching Experience:
I actively lecture at my university in an assistant role and am the sole provider of Westlaw lectures at my university. (Westlaw being the database law students use at university)
I was the president of the local debating Union (past tense as we have a limited amount of terms), I have also been the captain of my debating teams back at A level. In both of these cases it is my responsibility to teach the members of the societies to learn to debate.
As a result of my teaching the debating union I am currently at has been Welsh National Champions 2 years in a row and was the opening team at the Oxford Inter Varsity tournament in 2018.
As well as this I also assist in seminars with other students currently on my course, I enjoy law, history and politics (all 3 attribute to my current degree) and as well as being able to help others it also valuable helps me complete my course, you remember things better if you teach someone else.
Tutoring Approach:
I often find the main issue people find is getting the information committed to memory, particularly with heavy subjects like law and history. (I'll deal with politics separately) And as such I generally do presentations which focus on getting the information you need, in this respect I always try to remind people that generally the information you'll need isn't over complex, only the analysis is which should always be treated as separate. Using this method when helping others I have seen that they almost always are able to better remember the important facts they need, whether they be facts, prime ministers or types of cheese.
The second element I split lessons into becomes a lot more relevant for politics. This is analysis, the criticisms made of other ideas. This is always where the real marks are and just like my previous answer I rest on the fact that people normally only ever find things difficult when they over complicate things for themselves. My focus on analysis is making it as simple as it always is and running people through slowly how you would make your approach on the analysis. I'll never tell them how to think about something but instead how they can articulate their own thoughts.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Shannon and I am currently studding at the University of Derby and getting a degree in Law. I have received tutoring myself and understand how beneficial it can be to help advance education. I am dedicated to helping you to achieve your highest potential and that you are pushed to achieve your best.
Please note: If you are looking for tutoring in Maths or Combined Science I work with students working on the foundation papers. I am also able to working on individual sciences if one subject requires more attention than another, also at foundation level.
Teaching Experience:
I have experience in tutoring, this started off with family and then younger pupils. Most of the experience I have gained has been tutoring at Primary level in Maths and English However, I do have experience in teaching at ages 11-14 years.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring would be based online on an agreed platform, such as zoom. I would start off the first session by getting to know the student, their strengths, their weaknesses, finding out where they struggle most, discussing the best techniques that would be most beneficial to them as an individual as well as answering any questions. Then I would adapt each lesson to the student's preferred learning methods. The lessons may be in form of quizzes, helping to better understand a topic, exam prep, homework help, mini tests, and engaging lessons.

Personal Description:
I have a first class Honours degree in History and a Ph.D and I taught History and Politics in both a sixth form college and a local grammar school for many years. I am patient, friendly and approachable and I also have three children of my own who have been through the GCSE/A level process as well as helping many private tutees for over 15 years and so have a wide experience of the problems that students can experience during their education. I really enjoy teaching and like being able to offer my students one-to-one attention during tuition. I offer mainly online tuition nowadays but am happy to either offer tuition in your home (up to a certain distance from my home) or to have your son or daughter come to my home for tuition.
Teaching Experience:
I am now retired but I taught for 27 years at secondary and further education level with a focus on 16 years and upwards. My specialist subjects were History and Politics which I studied at degree and postgraduate level. I have a great deal of experience of helping students prepare for the requirements of these examinations and of assisting them in securing excellent grades so that they can fulfil their potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in flexibility. Different students have different needs which often change during a period of tuition and I believe in full consultation with the students and their parents. Generally, however, I find it most helpful to go over past questions with students to help them improve their examination technique. I have a proven track record in building up students' self-confidence, helping them cope with the demands of the examinations and helping them to make the most of their abilities.
