I am a Classics Graduate from St. John's College, University of Oxford. I have been teaching for six years now, both online and in person, one-on-one and for classes across a vast range of subjects. Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

My name is Ioanna and I am Greek native. I have 31 years of teaching modern Greek and I love my job.

Teaching Experience:
I worked for 31 years as a teacher of Modern Greek at the Athens College (Greece).
My duties involved:
Interpreting, designing and implementing learning programmes and curricula.
Creating an effective assessment framework for staff.
Delivering lessons in English or/and Greek to students from different cultures, backgrounds and age groups.
Collecting data and track progress of the students.
Establishing and recording policies and procedures, managing and facilitating flow of essential information
among members of staff, maintaining student records.
Being the official day to day link between school and parents/carers and the local community.
Organising school events: planning the event, developing and managing budget, negotiating with parents-carers
and management board, designing posters and invitations and managing social networks.

Tutoring Approach:
Friendly and supportive approach to students of all levels.
Use of visual cues, flashcards, games and hands-on activities to engage students to the fullest.

Personal Description:
My name Is Emma and I am 29 years old.
When I was 8 years old, I moved to Corfu, Greece without any knowledge of the language. I quickly learnt the language whilst attending a Greek school.
I came back to the UK to do my GCSE's in which I paid extra to do a Greek GCSE and I gained an A in this.

Teaching Experience:
I have no teaching experience however I am an easy going, confident and caring person who can go at your own pace and teach you things that you would like to know.

Tutoring Approach:
The first session I would engage with you to find out a bit about yourself and what you would like to achieve in our lessons. I would then create lessons and create you some homework.

I am approachable and am happy to do refreshes of the previous lesson.
