My mother tongue is greek but I am also a native speaker in english because I was born in Australia. I live in London and don't mind travelling within London. Teaching is one of my favourite activities because it is a way to share my knowledge with young people and also with adults. Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

During the last two years I have been teaching different courses at the University of Leicester, acquiring a strong experience in dealing with students. On the other side, since Latin and Ancient Greek are extinct languages I will use a more traditional approach. Nevertheless, also in this case I will try to alternate grammar with literature in order to help the student to get a broader perception of the ancient world.

Teaching Experience:
With over 30 years of experience, I have been teaching both Modern Greek and Classical Greek to a wide range of learners, from beginners to advanced students. I graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and have since worked in various educational settings, including schools, colleges, and private tuition. My experience covers not only teaching the Greek language but also incorporating cultural and historical elements to enrich the learning journey. I have taught students of different ages and backgrounds, and I take pride in adapting my methods to suit individual needs and goals.

My teaching approach is student-cantered, communicative, and supportive. I focus on building a strong foundation in grammar and vocabulary while encouraging students to use the language actively in real-life contexts.
