I started tutoring in 2009 and have been an associate lecturer in Earth Sciences with the Open University since 2014. I love all science and am passionate about supporting learners of all ages and abilities to achieve their best, while hopefully finding a bit of the magic in the subject along the way!

I'm also a student myself, in the process of writing up my PhD which is focused on the tectonic evolution of central Greece,

I am a PhD student, undertaking my doctorate in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on soil nutrient cycling and nutrient transport to surface and ground waters. I completed my BSc in Physical Geography at the University of Exeter and gained first class honours in this.

Teaching Experience:
I carried out teacher training at a basic level with the University of Exeter in order to participate in the Students Associates Scheme. After this training I spent three weeks in a local secondary school where I actively participated in Geography and Religious Studies lessons, and was able to provide work plans for higher and lower achieving students. I also worked closely with students that had special educational needs.
I also have experience in teaching sports to groups of young children.

During my time at the secondary school I found that I produced good results working one-to-one with students, particularly with students that were struggling to understand concepts or were having difficulty with the teaching style being used in the classroom. This year my students all received an A or A* at A Level and at GCSE all earned a grade 8 or higher. I have competed a degree in Geography (BSc) at Queen Mary UoL and hold a PGCE in the subject. I have completed a Masters (MA) in Geography Education at the Institute of Education UoL and I have attended a number of training sessions on the process behind the marking of exams, so have an in depth knowledge on how to attain high grades. I hold a PhD Degree in Geology, MSc. in Applied Environmental Geology and BSc. Geology (First-Class Honours). I have studied both in in Kenya and in the UK and I have developed great skills as an academic writer and an independent consultant in my field.

I am currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Nairobi that is funded by FCDO, through the University of Oxford.

I am a former Head of Geography, now working as a part-time Teacher and Tutor. I work with only a few students, in order to devote my time to providing excellent lessons with plenty of feedback and follow-up.

I formerly taught English as a Foreign Language, and have a Diploma in this area of teaching (DELTA), so can offer EFL to adults or children. This includes English conversation, pronunciation and help with proof-reading.
