Learning a foreign language is a process that implies some mimicking, language awareness, practice on comprehension, expression and also creativity. Some studies claim that the way we store languages in our brains is similar to that of data storing in a computer, but, of course, much more human, organic and alive. Languages have different components that need to be acquired and "stored" so that we can start feeling confident and creative in using them.

I trained in dance from the age of 3, and when I was about 13/14, started helping with the teaching of the younger children at the school. This was where I discovered my passion for helping others to learn. I took a huge amount of pleasure in helping people figure out a way to finally crack something they'd been finding difficult.

When I then went to uni, I spent my spare time working at Salford Young People's University to lead marketing and radio production workshops, amongst others. Over the last decade, I have spent a great deal of time outside of my day job leading workshops in schools, universities and other teaching organisations to inform, educate and empower young people to pursue a career in television. I have also mentored upwards of 80 individuals, each time taking a person-centred approach to figure out what is right for that particular person. I am teaching French and German I will start off using speech methods, so that the student feels relaxed and able to learn. This is very important. Depending on how we go we can then progress to pens and paper. Learning at this level ought to be enjoyable. I also teach adults at this level. I seek to build confidence in students, so that they can encounter native speakers and be able to do simple tasks like ordering meal in a cafe and an item of clothing in a shop. I have GCSE French and A level German.

Teaching Experience:
I have dyslexia, so I am sensitive to those who have this condition. I go at a slow pace to make sure the knowledge is consolidated before we move on. There is no hurry in learning either of these languages. Better to learn solidly and slowly
than poorly and in a rush. I teach in short sessions as these are most beneficial. There is homework if students want it. I am DBS cleared.

I have taught at a wide range of schools, from comprehensive to grammar schools and from this, I have gained a wide level of experience of supporting pupils with different needs. My pupils and those I have tutored have consistently achieved very good outcomes in public examinations.

Tutoring Approach:
I tailor my lessons to the needs of the individual pupil and in our initial meeting, I will establish the areas where we want to work on together.

My lessons are interactive and I make use of authentic materials and assessment materials to practise the different language skill areas.

Personal Description:
I come from a very multilingual and multicultural background. Having grown up in Tanzania and now Kenya I have had the opportunity to go to a French School for 8 years, learning every subject in French. Additionally, my fluency for Italian has come from my parents who are both Italian, which this level of Italian increased during my time at Boarding school (GCSE and A level), similarly with French.

Furthermore, having gone to an International Boarding School I have profoundly learnt Spanish from the ages of 10-18.

Teaching Experience:
This past summer, I have been able to participte in Language Summer School at Stonyhurst College and I have been priveleged to be able to teach the kids developed and more intermediate levels of English along with native languages, which I am fluent in. This enabled me to communicate with children when they haven't understood words etc...

Similarly, when I was at school I used to help the younger kids with their revision for upcoming exams, and used to help them learn relevant content along with grammar and conjucations, which is extremelly important when it comes to understanding and pronouncing foreign words.

Tutoring Approach:
As a tutor, I will be patient as I know that languages are very hard to learn and therefore having patient is important to fostering an important positive mentality, which is also a key factor to being able to achieve the grades an individual is aiming for.
Additionally, pronounciation will be worked on as this is very important when taking speaking exams, and I feel like this is very overlooked amongst tutors and not taken seriously; when someone knows how to pronounce it will be easier to spell and remember key vocabulary.
Furthermore, one thing i learned at school was that doing past papers is the most important thing to get yourself used to examination strcutures and get you to really understand syllabus and contents of the subject you are studying.
However, even though these are all contributing factors to learning a subject, knowing how to revise is just as important, which is something I will also be teaching and helping them find what revision tactic is best for them.
