My teaching approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective. Languages should always be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. The majority of classes must be delivered in the target language, however in order to meet timing of syllabus coverage and exams some of the concept must be strengthened in the student's language.
In an ideal world, where no exams or timed targets exist, then tutoring of a language should happen 100% in the target language.

Students benefit hugely from one to one information and reinforcement; and it may be a far more effective learning strategy than classroom teaching. I think it is important to first gain an understanding of where a child's strengths and weaknesses lie, in order to focus on the areas which perhaps need improvement. I also value a child's input as they are good judges of what they feel they do well and what they may need help with. The tutoring sessions will move at a pace that the child is comfortable with, and help with homework and coursework will be available. I feel that tutoring outside of school may help improve a child's confidence within a school environment, be this in the work itself or in class discussions and for them as a person. My name is Josephine and I'm 32 years old. I'm Danish but have lived in London since 2014 when I did my BA in Fine Art.
I have a Master's Degree in Animation Film from The Royal College of Art.
The past 8 months I've lived in Hebden Bridge between Manchester and Leeds to open our first Studio in FedUP Studio Lab, the production company where I work part time. My role is producer and assistant creative director. I'm a freelancer director in the company as well.

I enjoy tutoring because the process between student and tutor is wonderful. I have worked in the film and television industry since 2004. I lead large teams of specialist designers, art directors, junior assistants, crafts people and construction teams. And I collaborate closely with other experts within the industry including cinematographers, directors and screenwriters.

A production designer designs the worlds in which the TV Drama or film is set. That includes working with location people to choose locations in which to film - and building sets in studios. It can also involve working closely with SFX teams. The role juggles creative vision with practical project management. It's a collaborative media/ industry and relies heavily on communication skills- visual and verbal.

Personal Description:
I've been teaching Film Studies for over twenty five years now - it's a wonderful career which has enabled me to combine my enthusiasm for the subject, with developing effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their potential. I have extensive experience of teaching Film Studies A level at a sixth form college, where I'm also the head of subject.

My subject expertise is evident in my PhD qualification which I gained in 2019. It was a fantastic experience in many ways, not least in that I got to be a student again, a valuable reminder of the pleasures but also the stresses of studying. I am also the author of several Film Studies text books which are aimed at A Level students, as well as essays in academic collections
