My teaching approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective. Languages should always be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. The majority of classes must be delivered in the target language, however in order to meet timing of syllabus coverage and exams some of the concept must be strengthened in the student's language.
In an ideal world, where no exams or timed targets exist, then tutoring of a language should happen 100% in the target language.

I do not have any official qualifications in Italian, however my background in romance languages (Italian is a Latin-based language which, broadly speaking, I find to have a very similar vocabulary to Spanish with the grammar of French!) and my methodical nature means I would ensure that every lesson is thoroughly planned and carefully checked; I would never teach you anything I am unsure of, as this can be greatly detrimental. I am not available to help with exam preparation for Italian or to teach more advanced levels. Personalising my teaching to each individual student has proven to improve not only grades but also confidence, which encourages better performance and overall an enjoyable learning experience. Furthermore, I have also taught in classrooms teaching English abroad, an experience which greatly developed my teaching techniques and approach.

Furthermore, I have a personal passion for creative writing, which I am passionate for sharing with my students to prepare them for the often heavy-weighted creative writing questions on their GCSE language paper. I was awarded the Athenaeum Young Writers' Award in 2023, and since then I have been published in numerous anthologies for both fiction and poetry.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide a completely tailored approach to tuition, as every student's needs are personal. I work closely with my students to develop a learning experience that is most beneficial to them, rather than a generalised structure like that within a classroom setting. My sessions are interactive and productive without being overwhelming, focusing on developing skills over a number of sessions so that come exam time, the student is well prepared and confident.
