I have been successfully teaching in the Primary sector for over 25 years and have experience across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2. I resigned from my most recent full time post as Headteacher of a primary school, to return to my first love of teaching and now tutor children alongside working part time as a teacher.

Tutoring Approach:
Since I qualified as a teacher in 1996, I have tutored primary aged children in Reading, Writing and Maths. I have also supported many children through Y6 Sats and with the transition to secondary school.

I offer both face to face and online tuition via Zoom.

This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful. I approach each student and the sessions with an open mind to learn what I need to be of support.

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a uniquely engaging, personally attuned service. The first lesson typically consists of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results can be shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual and tailored programme of learning is created. Effectively, the tutee and I draft a first core essay on a given text, say, for example, 'Romeo and Juliet' Using this exemplar, the tutee is then assigned further essay questions, drawing upon this core essay as a guideline. Support is given throughout the writing process and constructive feedback is offered in the form of stage-appropriate targets to ensure progress.

At university, I was the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Oxford University Undergraduate Law Journal. I have just come out of fulltime education at East 15 acting school and am looking to get into teaching. Having recently done an online cause to become a member of learning support staff I have acquired a large variety of skills needed to go into education. I have done a huge amount of work with ADHD and dyslexic students so I have had to deal with about every behavioural issue there is with the utmost patience and I experience a lot of joy in learning how the students get to the answer.

I have created many lesson plans myself for ages 4-16, which include animated PowerPoints, mainly in maths but I am happy to create them for any subject.

I always begin with a game or a riddle just to get thinking cap on and then we will tackle a subject with an explanation and worked examples.
