I have been teaching for 12 years in a variety of educational settings in Further Education, Adult Education and working in Primary schools delivering courses to children and parents. I am currently up to date with primary school methods of teaching English and Mathematics - the latter has changed significantly over the years and parents may find methodology different to their own learnt methods which can cause problems when helping their children with homework.

I have a friendly approach, and encourage learning in a safe environment that enables learners to feel happy and stimulated to learn. Tutoring Approach:
I find it best to discuss with the students their learning needs, then create an 'Individual Learning Plan' with targets we can work towards. I do like to encourage learners to do their best, learn through doing and working out answers. Not so much focusing on 'wrong' answers - but the process of getting there - and realising where problems lie. Then we can remove the misunderstandings and misconceptions that lose them marks (especially with mathematics) and make new connections that enable learners to produce the 'right' answers.

I use all forms of learning through not just text books - but through games of mental maths or spelling, interactive work (if pc supplied in learners house) & help with school set 'mymaths' site, 'doing tasks' from counting money to making maths drawing with isometric paper and many more methods that stimulate a learner to make long term deep memory learning.

Students can feel in control of their learning, and see their progress in their Individual Learning Plans which can be shown to parents and adapted to suit the needs of the learner, either in long term courses or short intensive sets of lessons.

I am an experienced tutor, proof reader and trainee teacher. Academically, I received my degree from the University of Birmingham (BSc Environmental Science) in 2013 achieving a 2.1 classification. In 2014-15 I studied MSc Surveying and Land Environmental Management at the University of Exeter (Penryn campus).

Teaching Experience:
I started working as a tutor in London and Surrey in 2013/2014, mainly for students who had been excluded from school. In 2015 I relocated and began tutoring private clients in East Anglia. In 2016 I started offering online tuition, first using Skype, and now with Zoom. Tutoring Approach:
For younger students, I assess them on their first appointment to see where their strengths and weaknesses are. I have a First Class law degree from the University of Oxford and have almost 10 years of tutoring experience. At university, I was the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Oxford University Undergraduate Law Journal. During my time at Oxford, I also published an article in the journal which was awarded the 'Best Private Law' prize, as adjudicated by the former President of the Supreme Court, Lord Neuberger. My name is Nikki and I am an experienced primary teacher and Assistant Headteacher at an Outstanding school in London. I graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 2010 with a BSc in Natural Resources Conservation. I taught in Taiwan for a couple of years before moving to London to begin my teaching career.

Teaching Experience:
Over the last ten years I have taught across KS1 and KS2. I have been the Maths lead at my school for the past 6 years and the Assistant Headteacher for the past 3 years. I have run two 11+ group tuition lessons for three years for children in Year 4 and 5.

Tutoring Approach:
During the first session, I conduct an assessment with the pupil to determine where the gaps are. I then create a tailored curriculum for them that will meet their individual needs. My goal is to develop the pupil's confidence and growth mindset in their learning and the results will follow.
