Personal Description:
I have a first degree in History and English and a masters in Art History. I have been teaching successfully in London and Norfolk for the past 30 years and can honestly say that I have never had a student fail, whether it be for an entrance exam or GCSE, 'A' level or even at University helping with a final dissertation. I am passionate about my subjects and believe that each student should be approached with tailor made lessons to achieve their desired goal. I have in many cases remained friends with many of the families of the students I have taught. It is a pleasure to work with young people who believe in their abilities to achieve in life.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at further education colleges in and around London as well as private schools mainly in English and History for G.C.S.E. and 'A' Level students. I am also an Associate Lecturer for the Open University in the Humanities and have been doing so for 14 years. My main strengths are in private tutoring in which I have been engaged for the past 30 years around London and Norfolk.

Tutoring Approach:

In the case of coursework for GCSE or 'A' level I am happy to have students email their work for me to check over and then have a lesson in person or on-line. With regard to working towards examinations, I prefer to use the question papers as the basis for learning as generally each exam board has a preference for the way in which questions are answered especially in the subjects I teach. English and History especially are open to interpretation. I believe the need to read around the subject and offer a wider knowledge than is generally taught at schools or colleges is vital. Regular tuition is therefore preferable, so that all problems can be addressed over a period of time but I am flexible as to how many lessons are needed.I am also happy to teach on-line using Skype or similar if preferred, as I have been doing this over Covid and thereafter.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and former Headteacher of a successful school with significant teaching expertise at KS1 and KS2. I am also a qualified SENCO and have vast experience in SEN. I set high standards for all my pupils and help them to achieve academic success. I am able to offer tuition in English, Maths and Science at both key stages and tuition for 11+ and common entrance examinations. I travel to you by negotiation. I can provide excellent references on request from past and present clients who have achieved and continue to achieve success in their studies at all levels. I enjoy seeing my pupils make rapid progress and achieving a high level of academic success.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in English, Maths, SEN, Entrance Examinations at 7+ and 11+ and tuition for pupils who need to catch up, lack confidence and skills and need support to improve. I have vast experience teaching within excellent local schools and I am currently a Headteacher in a large local primary school. I teach children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I specialise in assisting children who lack confidence in specific areas and I am able to assist these children in improving their skill levels within their own school. I can provide excellent references on request from many happy pupils and parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and understanding tutor with the ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children. My aim is to ensure that pupils develop additional skills and increased confidence in their studies. I make my lessons fun and enjoyable for pupils so that they are able to enjoy learning and are keen to attend my tutoring sessions. I keep parents updated on their children's progress on a regular basis and encourage children to share worries about specific subject areas so that we can explore them together.

Personal Description:
I grew up in the UK and then worked in Indonesia for 10 years, teaching Indonesian scholars on pre-departure academic programs. I also taught cross-cultural and study skills courses. After Indonesia, I moved to Australia, where I worked at two universities in Brisbane, the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. More recently I have worked on Exeter and Bath University's pre-sessional program. I'm a friendly, kind and patient person with a good sense of humour and I love teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 20 years, mainly in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. I have experience working with English language learners at all levels and particularly at the university level. I can prepare students before their academic study or can assist them when they have already started university.
I am also very experienced in exam preparation. Most of my work has been on IELTS preparation courses (I used to be an IELTS examiner) but also on FCE preparation programs. I currently teach students in groups and one-to-one and I am available for Zoom classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's important to listen to students and identify their individual needs. I try and see them as they are, without judgment and I also encourage them to see the facts about their language learning, rather than their opinions. Many students say they are 'bad students' and this does not help their learning. So I show them a different path where they can look at the specifics of what they are doing and how they can improve their skills step by step. This makes them feel better about themselves and their studies. It also gives them responsibility for their own learning.
I also bring humour into the classroom as I feel laughter is very important to the learning process. Some students have said that my classes are 'like being in a family' and I think that's a lovely compliment.

Personal Description:
My name is María. I´m a enthusiastic and motivated teacher willing to help you to learn everything you want to know about Spanish language and culture. I believe in a practice-based learning. I think every language is alive and we shouldn't learn it as a dead theory.

I also teach English as a foreign language.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a qualified teacher with a Spanish-teaching title recognized by University of Barcelona and International House World Organization. I also have a Masters in teaching secondary and languages education (PGCE) and a Bachelors in Fine Arts. I have experience working in secondary schools and adult education in the UK.

I think Art and Language are very close to each other, both of them play an important roll in the world's communication system and in the development of society. Art&Language are pure culture and a very important thing in the development of children too.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that teaching Spanish is much more than teaching a bunch of grammar rules, it's teaching our art, gastronomy, our understanding of life… in short, our culture.

I use a communicative approach to the language, so grammar is always in context and at the service of real communication skills.

I focus on the objectives and needs of each student or small group. In the first lesson I will give you a level test and a content negotiation where you can tell me what grammar and cultural topics you are more interested in and how you prefer to learn them. You are the protagonist of your own education!

To teach in the best possible way I use a wide range of activities that I prepare to fit you.

Personal Description:
I am married with a daughter at university and a son at college. I am interested in many different things, from sports to wildlife. I think I am friendly and fun, and because I have tried learning foreign languages myself, am sympathetic towards my students needs!

Teaching Experience:

I have actually taught TEFL for about 10 years (and have been in the TEFL business for much longer, publishing books for TEFL). I have worked in Japan, Egypt and Spain and also taught at the IH Executive School in Piccadilly, London. Since 2009 I have specialised in teaching 1:1, all types of students, from young learners to senior business people.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to find out what the student wants and needs and then to try to give it to them in a logical and effective way. I try to make the lessons varied, interesting and relevant. The aim is always to help the student get closer to achieving their language goals.

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome to my profile! It's great to have you here!

OK, so I'll tell you a little about myself… My name is Aman. I am a qualified EFL/ESL teacher and I have been working abroad for the last 16 years in different countries from Thailand to Dubai.

For the last 5 years I was working with the British Council as an academic manager in Qatar. Here I was managing educational programmes and a team of teachers, which I loved! I provided training for teachers and worked on curriculum development.

When I am not working, I love movies, music, socialising and meeting new people and learning about new cultures! I am also a big coffee drinker.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 15 years experience teaching English as a foreign language.

I have taught students of all levels from beginner to advanced and have worked with students from all over the world helping them to improve and develop their general English language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking by designing lessons to bring out their full potential.

In addition to teaching general English, my ELT specialism for my Cambridge DELTA was Exam Preparation Classes. Therefore, I have solid experience and knowledge of helping learners prepare for the IELTS exam and get the band they want by focusing on the strategies needed in each module. Moreover, I can also help you prepare for the Cambridge First (FCE) exam.

Tutoring Approach:

Although, the heading states 'Approach to Tutoring', I look at it as 'Our Approach to Learning'.

Together, we will look at YOUR English language goals, and the best way to achieve them, as every learner has different needs.

Lessons are learner-centred, that means I do not teach in a 'lecture' style, but provide opportunities for you to produce and practise language and then look at ways to further develop and improve that language. It is important for me that you feel comfortable and relaxed in these sessions. Lessons should be enjoyable and engaging for you (and me!).

There is error correction throughout lessons, but this is where you will self-correct with my guidance making you more aware of which areas need more focus.

Depending on your level, I use a range of materials from coursebooks, internet, newspapers, magazines to podcasts and videos.

I will give you regular homework, which will help to reinforce what you have learnt and give you more independence in using English. My aim is for you to feel more confident in any situation where you have to use English.

Feel free to contact me and let's talk about what you need. You can ask me any questions and I'll be happy to explain.

There is no obligation and don't worry, I don't bite!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Aman

Personal Description:
I was brought up in Cardiff and my claim to fame is attending the same school as Gareth Bale and Sam Warburton. I'm a Christian, married to Jifelane - the most wonderful woman in the world. She's from Mindanao in the Philippines and we met online! I'm a proud dad to two beautiful children, Isaac and Hannah. I'm much travelled, play guitar, write songs and enjoy carp fishing especially on a warm Spring or Summer day. I am also an author! I published my first book 'Moondust' in 2015 and have recently self published another two, available in the Blurb Bookstore.
As a person I am patient, reflective and believe strongly in integrity. I am compassionate and enjoy seeing the funny side of life - I attempt to bring these qualities to my work. I am a dedicated, adaptable and friendly practitioner who loves to bring out the best in children and others. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. I saw that children were the hope for today and for the future and that schools were vital training grounds for life. Now as an experienced practitioner, I still have an infectious enthusiasm and passion to see children learn and reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

My professional experience is rooted in the breadth and depth of a teaching adventure which spans over twenty five years. Teaching mostly across Key Stage 2 (but also including KS1), it is entwined with close collaboration with colleagues from Reception through to Y6. I am keenly aware of the learning journey through the Primary School. Most of my teaching career has been in England and I have taught in a diverse range of schools. I am familiar with and use a range of teaching and learning strategies and believe that getting to know the child, coupled with quality assessment is the best way to help move them forward.
In recent years, I have been an integral part of two highly successful schools. My last school received an exceptional report from the most recent ISI inspection at the end of 2014. I quote:
'Staff are highly successful in shaping the educational programmes around the children's' interests and needs, providing a range of highly stimulating learning opportunities across all subjects through a creative curriculum that frequently takes learning outside.'

Tutoring Approach:

I endeavour to use a range of communication strategies which include listening, observing, questioning, explaining, modelling, storytelling and coaching. I have high expectations of myself as a tutor and high hopes and expectations of the learners in my care. I believe that effective teaching and learning comes from a being a reflective and critical practitioner, so whilst I will use tried and tested approaches initially, I will then adapt to suit the learning needs of the tutee. Assessment for learning methods such as strategic questioning, using success criteria and regular quality feedback are embedded into my teaching and learning ethos. As much as possible, I endeavour to make learning fun, stimulating and child centred, sensitive to individual needs. Developing close but respectful relationships with the students lays the foundation for being secure enough to take risks and improve their learning.

Personal Description:
I am a language lover who has travelled and taught in many different countries. I live in London but I travel a lot too. Exercise and healthy eating, tv and books, theatre and movies, good food and animals.

Teaching Experience:

Starting in 2005, I have over 13 years experience teaching English. I have taught every nationality and language speaker. I have taught all ages and all levels, students to professionals. I have been a personal Cambridge exam teacher for university students, and I have taught business English to traders in the stock exchange.
I have also been a teacher trainer for many years and have spoken at international teacher conferences many times.

Tutoring Approach:

I have studied methodology and materials for years, the result is that I teach using techniques and methods which come from studying how the brain works. I use this to help learners really understand the language. I believe that speaking is the only way to measure language and so I focus on improving speaking in my learners

Personal Description:
I am an extremely well qualified and experienced teacher of modern languages. I worked in many schools in the UK and for the most part as head of MFL. I also worked in China and Germany teaching English. Since retiring from full time teaching I have been teaching private lessons. I have extensive knowledge of the GCSE and A level courses and I have been very successful with my students. On average their grades have improved by at least two from their mock exams.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching after leaving university when I went to China and worked for a United Nations Development Project. I then worked for a private language school in Germany. I became a qualified teacher and worked in several schools in Essex. I quickly worked my way up the ranks and became Head of Modern Languages. My last full time position was as Head of MFL at Medina College on the Isle of Wight. Since then I have been successfully teaching private lessons to students aged 5 to adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a variety of techniques adapted to my student's needs. I like to make my lessons fun and interactive. I follow the syllabus closely in the case of exam students and make sure that students are confident in all four skills. I elicit information from the students rather than just teach them how something works. By using this method students are more likely to retain the knowledge. I am happy to teach students individually or in pairs or groups.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching for 18 years and have taught students from 6 years old through to adults. I have worked extensively in the UK (including Higher Education), and at an international school in Spain. I am a registered examiner with recent experience.

I have a first class honours degree in English and Politics from the University of York - I love English and I want you to love it too! I am passionate about enabling everyone to reach their potential. I specialise in KS3; GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Literature; adults who are returning to education after a break; academic skills for Higher Education; and students who are learning English as a second language (including preparation for the IELTS exam).

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring online (in addition to my classroom teaching), since 2016 using a range of online platforms such as Skype, Zoom and Teams. I have a PGCE and I became CELTA qualified, graded Outstanding in all areas, in 2014. I also have an Understanding Dyslexia qualification from London South Bank University. This is a particular area of interest to me and I have taught many dyslexic students who have successfully achieved their qualifications. I teach a wide range of exam syllabuses which include: AQA, Cambridge, Edexcel, WJEC and OCR.

Tutoring Approach:

I really enjoy what I do and I aim to build confidence and study skills, alongside qualifications. I always assess a student's skills and identify areas of strength, as well as key areas for development.

I teach Tuesdays to Thursdays, and Saturdays during term time. I can offer tuition sessions of one, two or three hours on a regular basis.

Intensive lessons during the holidays or exam revision is also possible, on request. I can deliver a bespoke course if you would like; please be aware the price is dependent on what you require.

Over the years, I've become a patient, culturally aware teacher, developing a unique style that tailors lessons to each learner's needs and abilities.

Teaching Experience:

With specialist training in ELT (BA), IELTS and TOEFL Test Prep, TEFL/TESOL/TEYL, and SEND. I was honored to be recognized among the top 10 global teachers for one of Asia's leading online teaching companies. With 15 years of experience and a language school I founded in Thailand, I'm here to help you enjoy learning. Join me for a class that will change your outlook and keep you excited to learn more.

Tutoring Approach:

In my classes, I like to use visual effects, pictures, audio, and video, depending on the course and type of lesson. Materials are custom-made for specialist courses like pronunciation and accent reduction, while IELTS, PET, and Cambridge courses follow a structured curriculum based on the course syllabus.
Thank you for reading my profile, and I look forward to meeting you in a class soon!
