I am a qualified teacher having been awarded a PGCE from the University of Cambridge. I also have a First Class Bachelors degree. I previously taught at Queen's College Preparatory School, London and now teach online for Eton College. I am a member of the professional body for tutors.

I have four young children of my own and enjoy working with children and helping them to become interested in and succeed in school work. All of my children attend UK independent schools and I have extensive experience in this sector.

I'm an author and a poet, I have had many poems published, won first prize in an international poetry competition (2011) and have also brought out two collections, which are on sale on Amazon. In 2015 I published my memoir A Hippopotamus at the Table. Set in South Africa in the 1970s. I'm about to publish my second memoir and published a book called Writing Memoir. How to Write a Story from Your Life in 2017. Formerly I taught memoir writing to small groups. I have a blog which is updated regularly with articles about writing, poetry, my travels and events.

I use a fully communicative and up to date approach to teach Italian. While teaching I always present the language in the context and features as grammar, phonology and lexis are analyzed in everyday situations. I use a wide variety of up-to-date authentic material which give the students valuable information about modern-day Italian culture and society at the same time as developing the students` authentic linguistic and communicative skills. I use techniques and procedures made ad hoc to meet the students` needs. Tutoring Approach:
I am open to teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced level of language courses. I would prefer in-person teaching in the Oxford area; however, online sessions would also work. Please let me know. I would like to go through a grammar book that I mostly rely on when teaching languages. However, if your level is above the beginner level, we can also do speaking sessions, where I can occasionally correct mistakes, taking notes about them. After this, we can go over the related subject.
