Recently made the decision to take voluntary redundancy from Volvo Truck and Bus where I had been employed both in accounts and as P A to the MD for 26 years. I wish to concentrate on teaching languages which I enjoy so much.

I have a degree in French and German and have been tutoring both children and adults for many years, although my enthusiasm has never waned.
I attended a TEFL course two years ago and am still improving those skills through an on-line course. I find this very easy and enjoyable as I come from the generation who were thoroughly taught correct English grammar and spelling.

I believe in a thorough method of learning languages - not the 'phrase-book style' fashionable for some years. As much speaking practice as possible is essential.

My teaching approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective. Languages should always be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. I grew up in England, with an English father, and a Spanish mother. I have always been fascinated by language and communication and I love travelling and meeting people of different nationalities and cultures. I have also lived in Spain, Oman and Turkey.

I know what it takes to learn a new language and how important it is to stay motivated and consistent! I have A Levels in Spanish and French and I am currently learning Turkish.

I love helping people to pursue their goals which is why I am also a Certified Wellness & Confidence Coach. I am warm, patient and accommodating.

Teaching Experience:
I have 3 years experience (as a speech & language therapist & learning support teacher) supporting non-native English students (in both primary and high school) with their English learning and to better access the British curriculum.

I also have 1 year of private and online teaching experience and I am always supporting my international friends with their English writing and speaking skills!

I am an extremely skilled and dedicated teacher with over 20 years of classroom teaching experience, within the London Borough of Redbridge. I hold a degree in psychology, followed by a Postgraduate qualification in Education (PGCE), specialising in English. As a result, I achieved my QTS (Qualified Teaching Status).

Alongside my teaching career, I have consistently tutored children on a one-to-one basis, including home educated learners.
