Hi, I'm half Finnish and half Irish and currently studying management at The University of Stirling. I love teaching English as a foreign language and can also teach Italian for beginners. I am doing this to earn some money alongside my studies as well as gain more experience.

Teaching Experience:
Last summer, I worked in a summer school where I was teaching English as a foreign language for six hours a day for six weeks to Italian, French, Spanish and Chinese students.

I have also done one-to-one tuition in Italy for three months.

I have never taught Italian before but willing to teach those who want to learn beginner Italian as I lived in Italy for 5 years so do know the language quite well!

Tutoring Approach:
I take either a vocabulary or grammar topic and combine it with two of the four language skills; speaking, listening, reading and writing. I mix things up but keep it fun and enjoyable.

I am a native British English speaker and I have been teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adults for 22 years. I love meeting people from all over the world and I absolutely love teaching! I am currently teaching part-time at an adult education college in London and I also provide additional learning support to students on a one-to-one basis. Since Covid 19 I have been teaching online. I really enjoy seeing my students gain in confidence and skills and progress to the next level. Many of them go on to further studies, including university, or get jobs or better jobs.

I have been teaching ESOL for 22 years at an adult education college and I also taught ESOL for a local authority for seven of those years. I have taught all levels from Entry Level 1 (beginners) to Level 2 (advanced) and have prepared students for Skills for Life exams at all levels. My approach to teaching is to find out what students want and need to learn. At the same time, if students are preparing for exams I focus on the skills that are needed to pass those exams. I like to get to know my students well and find out what their interests are so I can use this knowledge to plan lessons. I also review students' learning with them on a regular basis. My students tell me I am very patient and they enjoy my teaching methods. I use a variety of resources on different topics and I demonstrate various strategies that students can use to learn outside lesson times. Bonjour ! I am French native speaker fully qualified to teach French in secondary school. I have a wide range of experience in teaching from nursery to secondary settings, as I have also a master in education in France to teach primary and nursery children.

Seven years ago, I decided to move to Scotland where I started as a nursery practitioner in Edinburgh: my enjoyment of teaching my native language encouraged me to get the full qualification to be able to improve my teaching practice and to teach French at different level and range of students.

I love travelling with my lovely dog Alba , as I cycled with her from France to Crete and we travelled in a van all over Europe !

I have done several placements in primary and nursery schools in France during my master of education. Then I've worked as a tutor and a school supervisor in a high school in France during a year.

After moving in Scotland , I was a nursery practitioner and I have since 2020 a PGDE in Modern languages French. I worked 4 years as a French teacher in High schools while tutoring online and face to face and 2 years ago I decided to go exploring Europe for a year and to do online tutoring full time since. I do have now 6 years of experience tutoring online and I'm loving it !!

Languages and psychology are my passions. I enjoy learning languages (as well as the languages listed below, I have started learning some Arabic, Norwegian, Japanese, Spanish and Italian) and this has enabled me to try many different methods of learning a foreign language, which I can pass on to students to see which works best for them. In addition, I am currently researching the integration of psychology into language learning to make the learning process easier for students. I have lived abroad and am knowledgeable about different cultures. I have a good understanding of the common issues experienced by speakers of certain languages when learning English, including learning a new alphabet. My CELTA level 5 qualification in teaching English as a foreign language included teaching students of different ages and abilities from around the world via zoom. My students were very engaged in their lessons and weren't afraid to have a go even if it meant making a mistake, as I am able to ensure a relaxed and safe atmosphere in the classroom (or virtual classroom). I have taught all aspects of learning a language: listening, reading, writing and speaking. I am currently working in a voluntary role teaching English to Ukrainian guests in my local town, as well as tutoring my daughter in French for her GCSE exams.
