Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Anna. I'm an author and a poet, I have had many poems published, won first prize in an international poetry competition (2011) and have also brought out two collections, which are on sale on Amazon. In 2015 I published my memoir A Hippopotamus at the Table. Set in South Africa in the 1970s. I'm about to publish my second memoir and published a book called Writing Memoir. How to Write a Story from Your Life in 2017. Formerly I taught memoir writing to small groups. I have a blog which is updated regularly with articles about writing, poetry, my travels and events.

Teaching Experience:
I taught in Adult Education at a variety of colleges for approximately 10 years (until 2000) - my main subject was Ancient Egyptian History - one of the colleges was Birkbeck University (University of London) I taught undergraduates. I ran a class for a number of years before that for City University on Ancient Egyptian History. For 6 years I taught Information Technology (seminars) at London Metropolitan University, to first year undergraduates. More recently (2000-2014) I worked in Criminal Justice delivering Cognitive Behavioural programmes to offenders and also on another programme supporting victims of violence.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is Socratic in delivery, to draw from the student what they know, what their interests are and expand on that. I like to bring students to poetry, and know about poetry from a variety of cultures from Moslem (like Rumi, Omar Khayam) to French and Afro Caribbean writers. I think learning English should be broad and interesting and make people think. My teaching method is through a conversational approach, short written exercises for identifying strengths and weaknesses, building on strengths and working on areas that require a structured approach for improvement. Learning should be interesting and it should be fun.

A fixture in the London underground DJ community for over 10 years, I recently completed a BA in Music Production at BIMM London (1st degree honours awarded) whilst also holding a MLT in Teaching and Training.

Hello! My name is Matthew and I'm a CELTA qualified EFL teacher. I enjoy one-on-one tutoring and create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for learning. I offer casual teaching such as conversation practice to higher English such as IELTS and academic level English, and everything in between.

Teaching Experience:
I have worked in many different places in Central and Eastern Europe. I have experience with teaching Polish, Czech, Slovak and Hungarian learners in particular, and as such I have an understanding of what people from these countries find difficult when learning English. I have worked in a classroom setting as well as providing one-on-one tutoring to adults with all levels of English from beginner to advanced, providing casual conversation practice as well as specific, tailored tutoring for university students of English.

Tutoring Approach:
My main approach is one that aims to teach my students to be a, real life English speaker, not a Shakespearean school book! This is based on my own experience of learning a new language to communicate in every day, real person life. Last year, i decided to live in Brussels to learn french by living with local people, where I developed a healthy respect for slang and idiomatic language (not to blow my own trumpet). Teaching Experience:
I began teaching English full-time in 2008, and since then have taught both overseas and in the UK, to groups and private students, and have increasingly focused on preparing students for the IELTS and Cambridge exams.

Tutoring Approach:
The first step is to identify the student's weak points and systemic errors; a seemingly huge improvement can often be made with just a little effort, if that effort is applied in the right places!

After identifying the student's main language problems, I create a plan of action to repair these issues and improve the student's fluency and accuracy.

It's a cliche, but every student is an individual, and what works for one person will not always work for another. It is important to develop a lesson plan and study structure that fits the individual student.

Ive been teaching since 2000, my career started at durham university as a lecturer for education and ICT. I then went on to teach secondary ict then secondary english. I now teach Computer Science.

I have taught mainly English and Computing for over 20 years.

I was born and raised in Greece where I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Greek Language & Literature at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.I recently moved to the UK (2020) to earn my Master's Degree in Language Sciences with specialization in Neuroscience of Language(University of Reading).

I am fluent in both Greek and English. I also speak Spanish and French (proficiency level).

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching the Greek Language (Modern & Ancient Greek ) since 2012, preparing high school students for the country-wide university entrance exams. In parellel, I was delivering in-home classes to assist students of various age groups with their curricular activities in humanitarian subjects such as History, Modern Greek Language & Literature, Ancient Greek, Philosophy & Religious Studies.I have also worked as a volunteer for the non-profit organization ''METAdrasi'', where I taught young refugees Greek as a second or foreign language.In 2020, I started working for the Greek School of Oxford, preparing students for their GCSE exams in Modern Greek and teaching Year 5 and Year 7 the Greek Language as a Second/Foreign Language.

Basically I use constructivist teaching approaches and strategies to help my students. I encourage them to actively participate in the learning process and help them develop critical thinking and communication skills in the target language. The material I share with my students is accumulated through all the years of my teaching work and there is a variety of types of exercises I offer to them. I also use a lot of interactive online material like live worksheets, language games such as Wordwall etc. and different kind of resources; newspapers articles, songs, poems, movie dialogues, inscriptions, texts published on social media ,recorded day-to-day conversations between native speakers etc.This helps them not only reinforce their academic knowledge (grammar and syntax) but it also broadens their experience on the cultural and contextual aspects of the language.
