Personal Description:
Here is a little bit about myself: I enjoy reading, watching television and playing cricket.
I am 55 years old and live in Redhill, Surrey. I am able to tutor the following subjects:
A' Level Mathematics, GCSE Mathematics, KS3 Mathematics, KS2 Mathematics, A`Level Economics and GCSE Physics.
I am available any day of the week, daytime as well evenings.
Before the first lesson is scheduled, I will pay to you in full for the cost of purchasing my contact details. As for the first lesson, if for whatever reason your child is unhappy with my tutoring style within the first 20 minutes, we will stop the lesson straight away and I will not ask any payment for it. This way you will not pay a penny for anything you are uncertain about.
Here is a testimonial from a parent of a child that I tutor:
A great tutor and always strives on making sure the student understands the topics. He teaches my son GCSE Maths and my son has improved since working with him.
He is very approachable and communicates well both with my son and with myself. I`m glad I found this website.
Teaching Experience:
I have more than twenty years of teaching experience, which includes one-to-one tutoring as well as school, college and university teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I feel very passionately about learning. Mathematics in particular is a challenging subject, but with hard work, patience and a willingness to learn from my mistakes, I have found it very rewarding. It is this same lesson I have learned which I would like to continue to convey to students.
A great emphasis is placed on helping students truly understand the subject material, rather than tutoring them to simply pass exams. My aim is to impart transferable skills beyond the field of studying, whether it be in the work place or students` personal lives. Encouragement is given to students to ask any questions that are concerning them.
Rather than spoon-feed them information, I interact with them by asking them to justify answers to follow-up questions I ask, and hence lead them to the solution as a result of their efforts.
My teaching style is such that I am able to empathise with students with respect to any learning and developmental issues which they may need support with. To achieve this goal, special consideration is given to identifying particular learning weaknesses and providing multiple approaches to learning which best suit the need of the student. This in turn makes the primary learning objective of understanding and advancement achievable as well as an enjoyable and productive experience.
Students are encouraged to chart their progress with my guidance by recording their assessment of specific topics throughout the year. This in turn would give them confidence leading up to their exams.

Personal Description:
I previously worked as a global spokesperson for the United Nations and consultant to governments across the world for over a decade and am a graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). I am available for tutoring on a variety of subjects, particularly politics, economics, journalism, history, philosophy, media and communications and general writing skills. I am particularly adept at helping students develop their essay writing skills, with a structure and tone that secures high grades. I'm also available to provide help with exam revision, revision techniques, entrance exam preparation, university applications and general reading and writing skills.
Teaching Experience:
I have multiple years of experience of tutoring social science subjects to students from a range of different nationalities and backgrounds. I have a strong track record of improving grade scores and passing exams first time. I have proof-read essays for a large number of students who have all subsequently scored top marks for spelling and grammar. I have also formerly proof-read documents in a professional setting for businesses from across Europe and Africa.
Tutoring Approach:
I am flexible in my approach and am happy to adapt to any student's needs. I look to work on all aspects of a student's approach, including revision technique, writing style and exam preparation. My preference is for committed students who will practice and implement what is learnt outside of lessons. I typically set students exercises for completion before the next lesson in addition to revision work for practice essay questions. The more committed a student is to our classes, the more they will gain from them.

PRIVATE CHINESE (MANDARIN/CANTONESE) LESSONS WITH QUALIFIED NATIVE TUTOR (GCSE/AS/AL/ADULT LEARNER)
Hello and Nihao! My name is James. It is the most widely spoken language in the world (approx. 1.3 billion Chinese speakers in the world). It is also one of the six official languages in the UN. It is now a trend that in order to be a successful business person or even a professional in other aspects, it is important to acquire the ability to speak Chinese and to understand the Chinese culture.
As a Chinese Language Support Officer at University of Exeter and an ex Chinese Teacher at a private boarding school (Trinity School in Teignmouth, Devon), I would like to promote the Chinese language and culture as much as I can. I am now offering private Chinese lessons at a learner-friendly price in the Torbay and South Devon area. The price is as below:

I was the University Students' Champion in a Muay Thai Tournament in 2007 back in Hong Kong. Seeing MMA and self-defence has become more and more popular nowadays, I am offering private Martial Arts/Self Defence lessons. If you are interested in learning any martial arts, whether as a beginner or as an experienced fighter hoping to sharpen your skills or simply just want to learn self-defence to protect yourself, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can arrange 1:1 sessions or group sessions according to your needs. Price is as below:

Personal Description:
I am passionate about Maths and believe that with proper guidance you can "train" to be confident and capable in maths, and in solving problems and mastering techniques. I love to teach and promote deep learning and thinking whilst balancing this against time demands of the curriculum. I am a qualified Maths Teacher (PGCE) although I have not always been a teacher having worked in private industry during which time I began Maths tutoring. I graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a First Class Honours degree in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics.
I enjoy breaking maths down into smaller problems so that it can be accessible and understood by anyone and seen as "brain training".
Teaching Experience:
I currently tutor full time and am experienced in teaching maths from KS2 to KS5 (primary to A Level)
KS2 Maths
Year 6 SATS
11 Plus preparation (Maths and English)
KS3
KS4 GSCE

GCSE Maths resits / College
GCSE Statistics (Foundation / Higher / Coursework)

Tutoring Approach:
A bespoke learning program with introductory assessment in order to tailor individual needs (or using recent school assessments).
A relaxed and relationship focused tutoring approach. Honest, open tutoring and triangulated communication between myself, the student and parents/guardians. Tutees can give direction depending on current learning in school/college, and take ownership of their learning.
Tips and techniques on how to answer questions so that methods are easy to remember and understand, maximising retention of learning, as well as revision strategies and time management advice.
Regular homework set and monitored to accelerate learning progress.
Tutoring via Zoom (or locally in person) using a variety of education technology to ensure consistent delivery and instant assessment of learning and progress.
Free trial available.

Personal Description:
I want my lessons to be fun and useful. All my learners build their confidence very quickly. I tailor my tutoring on how you wish to learn and I teach in a style that you ask for to create a truly personalised approach. To add value, I use fun and personalised assessment for learning techniques with a focus on your starting points. Last year, I really enjoyed working with several students that received either A*, A, B or C. Their references and reviews are available on request.
We can set targets together around your requests with a focus on what helps you feel more confident.
My sessions will be fun and improve learning and motivation.
I have two children aged 10 and 14. I have an updated Enhanced DBS Certificate. I can supply feedback from my past and current tutees.
I believe that I can add at least two higher grade boundaries to your present results. My current tutees have all added at least one higher grade boundary with some adding 3 boundaries. All of them have improved by at least 2 grades within 3 months with a weekly session.
Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified teacher with 20 years experience at GCSE and A level (14 to 19 year olds), working in the UK and abroad. In addition, I have experience in financial guidance plus 3 years management of learning and assessment success in a quality standards role . All my resources are updated to meet any of the awarding body exams.
I was also a staff coach and teacher trainer for a full range of courses offered in the post 16 sector. I gained Employer of the Year in 2010 and in 2011 a Career Academy Honorary Alumni for outstanding contribution to Financial Service links between employers and young professionals.
Tutoring Approach:
We can set targets together and work on how and what you wish to learn to help build confidence and allow you to not only improve grades but also to help with your future options .
My sessions should be fun and improve learning and motivation.
I offer discounts for the first session plus further discounts for single parents in receipt of Universal Credit.
Sessions are taught over 1 or 2 hours with the option of face face or online via Teams or other online software. Many learners enjoy a combination of options.

Personal Description:
I have tutored a wide range of subjects, most frequently Latin and Maths; I have wide-ranging knowledge but I am a rare specialist in Classical Greek GCSE. Perfect exam grade record - in my mixture of reformed and unreformed GCSEs I achieved 5 9s, 6 A*s and and A^(A**) in Further Maths. A* in EPQ. Centre assessed 3 A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Economics A Levels (Calculated grades were 2 A* and A in Further Maths). I am studying Economics at Durham University from September 2021.
Teaching Experience:
100% 9-7 GCSE Record for Tutees
Tutoring 12 students in wide-ranging topic and subject areas.
I have tutored GCSE Latin, GCSE Greek, and year 9 Maths.
Feedback from Faye and Iona Green (Grade 7 in Latin GCSE) (February 2020):
'My daughter has been having 1 to 1 sessions on a weekly basis since summer 2019, she wanted to do GCSE Latin in 1 year.
We cannot speak highly enough of William, he has taught her everything she needs to know in a way that is easy to understand, full of enthusiasm and always willing to help outside of the taught lesson. He sets homework when needed and marks this.
My daughter is feeling confident about the forthcoming exams because of the excellent tuition that has been provided.
I would not think twice about using William again for tuition in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone else.
Thank you William for all you have done.'
Feedback from Katie Lester (Passed GCSE Maths Equivalency Test for PGCE) (September 2020):
'Just wanted to let you know I passed the test! Thank you so much for all of your help, you are a fantastic tutor!'
Feedback from Magdalena and Thomas Kurek (November 2020):
'Hi William. I had a parents evening recently and Tom's teacher said he is doing very well in math. Tom told me he feels more confident at school too. Thank you for your work with him.'
Feedback from Vivian and Cassidy Madziyire (February 2021):
'Your input so far has made a huge difference.'
Tutoring Approach:
Friendly, supportive, motivating, specification based work and focus on improvement through guiding through past papers.

Personal Description:
I am a professional, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. My focus is providing engaging and informative lessons to individuals and small groups. In my spare time I'm a sports fanatic; I play hockey and hold a black belt in Jujitsu.
Teaching Experience:
I graduated the University of Cambridge this year with a BA in Economics. My final year modules included microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, public economics and my dissertation, which statistically assessed the effectiveness of covid lockdown measures in the US and achieved a first class mark (placing me in the top third of my cohort). During my studies I tutored part time, teaching maths and economics.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach is problem and discussion based. This involves collaboratively working through problems and questioning students throughout their lessons to confirm and deepen their understanding. In essence, students get the experience of a Cambridge style supervision.
For example, several questions I often ask students to improve their writing are:
1) Would you say it out loud?
2) Would your teacher say it out loud?
3) Would someone a couple of years younger than you/without specialised subject knowledge be able to understand your argument?
For maths, my teaching heavily emphasises learning concepts from first principles to avoid unnecessary memorisation and confusion. We then cover a broad range of past exam questions to test all aspects understanding.
Lessons are conducted on zoom, where we can share our screens to work through problems together as a team. We also use bitpaper, a premium online interactive whiteboard.

Personal Description:
I'm currently in my second year of college studying A-level economics, A-level maths and A-level business.
I went from failing all my subjects to getting predicted Bs, this has led me to wanting to help others fall in love with the subjects they're struggling in and achieve great results. I will be studying economics at university therefore economics is the subject that I'm most confident at and can help first year students only, as for help regarding GCSE maths I'm open to tutoring students in year 8 and year 9.
Teaching Experience:
I've previously helped helped younger family members with their homework, classmates and friends.
Tutoring Approach:
I personally prefer that the student brings a question(s) that they need help on and I can assist them. However I believe that the same technique might not work for some students and therefore I'd ask whether they'd prefer to get support on specific topics or a specific style of question.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching Economics and Business for over 14 years as Head of Economics and Business in three high performing independent schools. This followed 19 years working in commercial roles in the fast moving consumer goods industry, after which I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Business Education) at the University of Roehampton in London.
Teaching Experience:
Having retrained as a teacher in 2010 I have been teaching Advanced Level and GCSE Economics and Business. I have experience across all major exam boards: Pearson Edexcel, AQA, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is very much based upon the needs of the individual. I identify the curriculum areas and exam technique that they wish to develop confidence in and work with tailored practice exercises that meet these goals. I help to deliver much improved exam and very often the confidence they need to approach external examinations with a positive mindset. I am used to working with a range of abilities in my private tutoring ranging from those who are very confident in their understanding but wish to improve exam skills to those who seek much greater clarity of the fundamentals of Economics or Business.

Personal Description:
Published UN economist and UK Government consultant providing premier support across exam technique, content understanding, and essay writing.
Looking for targeted entrance exam support or a stable mentor throughout your A-Level or IB Economics journey? I am a proven tutor with some available spaces remaining for weekly sessions from September to the end of the current academic year. As a full-time tutor, I have enhanced flexibility and on request I can offer intensive crash-course sessions for students on study leave.
I always offer a free consultation before the first lesson, to understand my clients' needs and to ensure our learning styles fit. My specialist subject is Economics at IB and A Level across the CIE, AQA, WJEC, and Edexcel exam boards. I hold a First in Economics from a Russell Group university and achieved straight A's and A*'s in my GCSEs and A Levels.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored Maths and Economics since 2021, and in that time have received 100% positive feedback from my clients who often go from fail-grades to As and beyond in short timescales. I have also taught English as a second language and Maths in several parts of the world, including Nepal, China, and Thailand.
Tutoring Approach:
I have taught various subjects as a private tutor since 2021, but I specialise in Economics. My lessons are highly interactive for maximum engagement, and I generally require students to have an iPad, tablet, or touchscreen laptop. In all initial lessons, I discuss with the student and/or their parent the student's needs and goals, identifying any weak spots in content knowledge or technique.
My lessons are almost always 90 minutes long, as I find this helps students get into a rhythm of learning and improves content retention. I use a structured but adaptable approach, tailoring each session to the student's progress. A typical lesson includes a brief recap of previous material, interactive problem-solving, and targeted exercises to reinforce key concepts. I also incorporate exam-style questions where relevant, ensuring students develop both knowledge and technique.
I believe in fostering an encouraging and supportive learning environment, helping students build confidence in their abilities. My teaching style is patient and student-centred, and I adjust explanations to suit individual learning styles. Whether working towards exams, strengthening general understanding, or tackling specific problem areas, I aim to make learning enjoyable and effective.
With my years of experience tutoring students from diverse backgrounds, I have developed strategies to simplify complex topics and make them accessible. Many of my students have significantly improved their grades and confidence, and I take pride in seeing their progress.
If you're looking for engaging and tailored tutoring, I'd be happy to help!
