Personal Description:
I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. In July 2011 I won the Michael Bryant Award at the National Theatre, for verse speaking and Shakespeare.

When I'm not acting or tutoring I can be found in the plumbing, plastering, kitchen or grappling with a cryptic crossword.

Teaching Experience:
I have been a private tutor since 2008.

Currently tutoring students in: 8+, 10+ & 11+ preparation (all four subjects); GCSE Maths. Adult English and pronunciation skills.

Previously: English - KS1, KS2, 7+ (Successful entry to Highgate), 11+ (Successful entry to, Haberdashers' Askes Boys, Trinity, City of London School for Boys, Alleyn's, St Alban's), A Level (A at A Level English and Extended English). During my gap year I spent some time as a special needs classroom assistant, working closely with a child with Asperger's Syndrome. This involved facilitating the social and academic change between primary and secondary education on a one-to-one basis.

Also at this time I ran Welsh language games sessions for primary children in non-first-language schools to improve and encourage their use of the language outside of the classroom environment.

Whilst at secondary school I taught reading skills to children who had low reading-ages.

I wrote a thesis on the connections between Maths and acting whilst at Guildhall.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual's needs; firstly finding ways of fully explaining a concept, then cementing them with useful and memorable material to build students' confidence. My main objective would be to aid the student in understanding not only the specifics of the work but also the broader aspects of it, which I believe provides a truer grounding in - and enjoyment of - a subject. By making the work useful and enjoyable, and by finding alternative and effective approaches to study, I hope that my tuition will shed new light on subjects for students.

My passion is building confidence and fostering resilient approaches to problem solving.

I specialise in tutoring Maths and particularly enjoy helping those students whose confidence in the subject has become a barrier to their learning and enjoyment of the subject.

Her Theatre Company has been running since 1998 and has many stage, screen and open-air productions to it's name. She is a fully qualified Trinity Guildhall Examiner and works worldwide. James is a freelance theatre director who trained at RADA and the Kings Head Theatre in London.

I have directed several theatre productions at drama schools, fringe and off-west end theatres. As an Associate Director, I have worked in the West End on numerous productions including The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe and the Olivier and Grammy-nominated Amelie The Musical. I have also worked at the Royal Shakespeare Company as an Assistant Director on their sell-out show A Christmas Carol starring Adrien Edmondson.

Teaching Experience:
In my early career I taught at Theatrix Performing Arts School and directed students through Trinity College London acting examinations as well as public performances. My students achieved a 100% pass rate with Merits or Distinctions in their performance examinations. Theatrix recently gained notoriety after alumni Ambika Mod starred in the hit Netflix television series One Day.

I have been a guest director at three drama schools including Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Drama Studio London and Court Theatre Training Company.

Tutoring Approach:
I focus predominantly on text analysis when working with students on the practical and performance aspects of theatre. I use exercises, improvisations and games to engage them with the scenes they are working on.

Jamie is an award winning writer director of feature films, short films and music videos incl. Radiohead & Coldplay. He has made four feature films to date, 'The Low Down' (2001) starring Aidan Gillen (The Wire/Game Of Thrones) and Kate Ashfield (Shaun Of The Dead), 'The Cry Of The Owl' (2006) starring Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes) and Julia Stiles (The Bourne Identity), 'Treacle Jr' (2010) starring Aidan Gillen and 'Pickups' (2016) also starring Aidan Gillen. All his films have had cinematic releases and have been televised on Channel 4, Film 4 and the BBC.

He has directed many award winning short films. 'I Just Want To Kiss You' starring Martin Freeman won the Fox Searchlight Prize for Best Short Film at the 1997 Edinburgh Film Festival.

His music video for Coldplay's 'The Scientist; won three MTV awards in 2003, Best Director, Breakthrough and Best Group.

Teaching Experience:
Jamie has taught at Reading University for the MA Course in Film Studies, Kingston University BA Film Studies/ The Royal College Of Art, The London College Of Communication, The London Film School/ Central Film School and currently teaches at MET Film School in Brighton.

I have been involved in Education for over twenty years and I am especially passionate about the English Language, which is where my expertise lies. I graduated with a B.Ed (Hons) Degree in Education; English and Drama being my specialist subjects. I am an enthusiastic and dynamic individual and am passionate about all aspects of performance. As well as going to the theatre I enjoy singing and going to festivals
I gained my LLAM Diploma from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2003 and since then I have been teaching hundreds of students across the country.

I can tutor English Key stage one and two. Each lesson will be a combination of grammar and writing.

In 2000, I created "Stand and Deliver" Drama Schools which I ran for 15 years.I have taught Speech and Drama at a number of major schools in Bristol and the South-west including Taunton Preparatory School, Red Maids School, Redland High School and Clifton College, For the past 15 years I have been a Drama, Performance and Voice Tutor at Bristol Grammar School. I also ran my own boutique theatrical agency in London and Bristol. Many of my students appeared on television and in theatre. Teaching English and Drama is not a job but is a passion for me - I believe every student has a unique voice and that is my philosophy when teaching. Personal Description:
I am a 35 year Principal teacher living in Glasgow. I relocated from Blackpool 11 years ago! I have a degree in drama followed by a post graduate degree in primary education from Lancaster; as well as various sports coaching qualifications.

I am able to teach a variety of subjects and I have also taught maths up to national qualification levels.

I am GTC registered as well as PVG cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults.

Teaching Experience:
I am a primary school teacher but I also have experience of working with high school aged children, particularly in maths. Most of my experience comes in the 5-11 age bracket.

I have worked in both England and Scotland and I currently hold a post as a Principal Teacher within North Lanarkshire. I have a particularly good knowledge of phonics and helping children develop strategies to enhance their reading skills.

Tutoring Approach:
I have high expectations of children as I believe this then fills them with the confidence to push themselves to achieve. I enjoy working with children and like to teach rather than give worksheet after worksheet, I like to use a mix of interactive resources along with more traditional approaches. I am also willing to set and leave homework if that is required.

I enjoy working one to one with children and find it really rewarding seeing the progress children can make in this environment.

If you find that you are out of my tutoring radius you can still contact me and I will try my hardest to accomodate you.
My hourly rate includes travelling costs so there are no hidden charges, however if you are out of my usual radius of travel this can be discussed.

I am available any weeknight after school hours and have some weekend availability too. Sessions usually last an hour, with around 45-50 minutes quality tutoring time, allowing time at the start/end of session for feedback with parents.

I have recently graduated at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama getting my MA in Advanced Theatre Practice, i also got a BA in Drama, Film and Media Studies in Italy.
I am a positive and friendly individual, professional and responsible. I chose becoming a tutor because I really care helping other people and I like sharing my knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am an avid reader who also loves singing and teaching. I studied English and Drama at Queen's University and then went to Newcastle Upon Tyne to study for a secondary English and Drama PGCE (teaching qualification). I have also worked as a full time youth worker and love working with young people. I have tutored adults and children in my spare time. More recently I have worked as a substitute teacher in Primary and Secondary and had a baby!

Teaching Experience:
I have taught secondary English for 15 years to all ability levels. I have also tutored pupils in their homes and from home and have marked GCSE English Language. I have taught primary pupils and further education pupils and taught some TEFL (English as a foreign language) too!

Tutoring Approach:
I like to get to know the person and try and tailor my approach to their needs. I have used many techniques including mnemonics to help pupils break exam questions down into smaller chunks and structure their response to ensure they thoroughly answer their questions. I also enjoy helping spark pupils' creative ideas for developing writing tasks. I try and encourage pupils to take ownership of what they write and foster awareness of how grammatical errors can go unnoticed if work is never planned or edited sufficiently.

I am Jackie. I have been Acting professionally for over twenty five years and have had a very varied career I trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London gaining the A.G.S.M Diploma in Professional Acting. I also have extensive teaching experience from working in both the Private and Public Sector, and established Stage Schools.
My many theatre credits include appearing in London West End Musicals, e.g. ('The Pirates of Penzance' (with Tim Curry and George Cole, 'Theatre Royal Drury Lane'), 'Budgie' (with Adam Faith and Anita Dobson ,'The Cambridge Theatre London'), and at The National Theatre of Great Britain ( 'Guys and Dolls' and 'The Beggars Opera') and in many straight theatre roles in various Theatres across the country.
I also have many diverse Television credits specialising in Television Comedy. I have worked with such renowned writers as Carla Lane at The BBC (appearing in 'Bread' and 'Luv' ) John Sullivan at The BBC, (appearing in 'Heartburn Hotel ') Roy Clarke at The BBC (appearing in Rosie',) and Victoria Wood at ITV( appearing in 'Dinner Ladies) My favourite role was as 'Glenys Pike' in the very popular comedy series 'The Brothers McGregor' written by John Stevenson for Granada TV which ran for four series. ) as well as many other TV appearances such as 'Cracker', 'Brookside', and 'Coronation Street'.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive teaching experience from working in both the Private and Public Sector, and established Stage Schools. I teach all ages up to degree level or privately,specializing in one to one tuition. I have helped many young people with Drama School auditions with very good success. I also coach actors on audition technique and on audition speeches or scenes.

I have a background in theatre and drama: I completed my Master of Arts degree in Theatre Directing at the University of East London. Also I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft . I wrote my dissertation on 'How can the form of Burlesque be used to reclaim notions of sexuality and gender?' Currently, I work freelance as a director, performance producer, performer and creative coach.

I am a very experienced teacher of English and Drama at GCSE, A-level, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 18 year old A level student and high achiever at GCSE looking to help younger students.
I am currently studying Biology, Psychology and English Literature at Churston Ferrers Grammar School in the UK and have a strong passion for my studies.
I'm very much into my sport and exercise, I play wheelchair basketball for Plymouth Fusion and enjoy going to the gym a few times a week for how it makes me feel. I'm an overall advocate for all people (but particularly young people) taking care of their own physical and mental health through the right activities and approach to life.
Also, I enjoy playing music, mainly singing, as well as acting. I have performed in various shows and concerts in my school throughout the years which is something I really enjoy and a great way to boost my own confidence.
Finally, at the beginning of 2022, I began a YouTube channel with the aim of helping people start good habits (like that of studying) and build positive mindsets to approaching life in an enriching way.

Teaching Experience:
At my young age, I have no prestigious teaching qualifications. However I have two incredibly helpful experiences/characteristics to be an effective tutor:

Hello! I'm Alexis, your approachable, results-focused tutor for English and Drama. I'm friendly and easy to talk to, with a quick, light-hearted sense of humour that remains respectful. I have my own twin boys in S3 starting their National Fives so I understand the pressures for pupils and families. I want you to feel confident going into class and into exams. I've been teaching English since 1999. I also ran a drama school. In 2017, I added drama to my General Teaching Council qualifications and began teaching drama in schools. As a current A-level student, I aim to offer targeted tutoring for students currently doing their GCSE's, using my recent experience and knowledge of the curriculum to my advantage. All the subjects I offer I've achieved grades 7 and above in, with 9s in both English language and literature, and 8s in history and religious education. My main priority as a tutor is to help students understand exactly what the examiners are looking for, whilst providing insights and strategies from a student's perspective in the following subjects:

Teaching Experience:
Whilst I haven't held an official teaching role, I've spent the last couple of years helping to mentor those around me when they needed it. I find it incredibly rewarding to break down harder concepts that people often find 'scary' into more manageable steps. For example, I previously tutored a friend in GCSE Maths who was consistently stuck on a grade 4-5. By focusing on consistently appearing topics that could also appear in larger mark questions, like SURDs and completing the square, I helped her build the confidence to tackle the higher-tier papers. I'm proud to say she went on to achieve a Grade 7 in her final exams. Additionally, I regularly help my younger sister with her primary school work, helping me to develop the patience and adaptability skills needed to explain the same concept in multiple different ways and examples until it clicks and sticks to the student being taught.

Tutoring Approach:
Growing up, I've always been a visual learner; I understand that textbooks aren't always enough. I've used this to my advantage to turn it into my greatest teaching strength: I use my iPad to make every session interactive.I do this by breaking down complex topics with live diagrams, graphs, and real-life examples to break down exactly how a concept works. I also use the 'I do, we do, you do' approach to help build a genuine understanding of the topic. First, I model exactly how to tackle a high-mark exam question. Next, we collaborate on a second question and work through the steps required together. Finally, I let the student take the lead on their own, allowing them to apply their new skills with their own knowledge.
