I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning. I also set plenty of work and get them to do past papers which I send to them in the first week. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. Honest school teachers will tell you that it is the noisy and disruptive pupils that get their attention, whereas the quite shy hardworking pupils tend to get neglected. Busy school teachers just do not have the time or energy to devote to helping their quieter or weaker pupils and it is these pupils that especially benefit from extra personal tuition. On the other hand a brighter pupil may be so far ahead of his or her peers that the teacher is just not able to give them the attention they need. The most important rule is to focus on the student instead of how you teach them, or more generally, respond accordingly instead of preparing for a series of potential hypothetical situations.

My whole life, I found that most often, 'plans' or 'strategies' were entirely flawed in many cases. With the number of assumptions one would have to make, a single change in these conditions destroys your plan completely.

What I'm trying to say is that not all students are going to be the same, I for one, was a slow learner, whereas many other would pick up on a concept quickly.

So what is my point? I do not rely on ridiculous, repetitive algorithms for teaching students; I prefer to analyse my students learning capabilities as I teach them and prepare tasks based on their performance in mini-tests and recap sessions.

I have taught 11+ students on a regular basis. I have also conducted many intensive courses for 11+ Maths and English in July/August in order to help them gain momentum for the 11+ entrance exams.

I have helped several GCSE and students achieve their target grades and have enjoyed seeing them gain confidence with every lesson.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe in connecting with my students in a way that they gain confidence and clear insight in their subject. I follow a clear structure in my lessons in order to cover all relevant topics that they need help in, teaching them not just the theory but also the exam technique to help them achieve the highest marks possible. I share tricks and learning devices with them in order to make memorising/revising a more efficient experience. I set regular homework, including solving past papers.

I focus on helping my students achieve excellence in their subjects by helping them aim higher. I firmly believe that every student has the capability within to attain success. My goal is to help them in this process and make the journey as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

I am a qualified teacher. I have a doctoral degree in Science from Manchester University. I have also obtained a Master's degree, in Biomedical Science and a Bachelor's degree (in Genetics ) from the University of Sheffield (UK).

I completed a postgraduate course in education and gained my qualified teacher status from Manchester University. Currently, I am a science teacher in a UK mainstream school. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. I have lots of experience teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-level pupils in both mainstream and private schools in the UK. I use powepoint to teach my lessons. I always make sure my students understand the main concepts first and close the gaps in their knowkedge. I then apply their knowledge to different exam questions to make them confident in answeing exam problems.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified secondary science teacher who specialises in Biology. I currently work at Buxton and Leek College as Lead Lecturer for T-Level Health and BTEC Health and Social Care. I have a degree in Biology, experience working within the NHS and I am currently tutoring to students in the evenings, alongside my full time FE teaching role.
I am a very relaxed teacher, who likes to get to know my students so I can tailor a personalised approach to my lessons.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan, love books, movies and board games.

Teaching Experience:
I am a PGCE trained science teacher and I have spent 1 year teaching in a secondary school where I was able to teach all science subjects to GCSE students. I ran an after school science club to a group of students who were wanting additional support. I have spent the past 1.5 years lecturing at Buxton College to T-Level and BTEC students, teaching both Biology and Chemistry to level 3 and 4 students plus healthcare units. I have also been private tutoring for the past 10 months in the evenings.

Tutoring Approach:
I will first start by gauging my students abilities, strengths and weaknesses. I will then develop a personalised plan for each student so that we can develop areas of weakness and build upon their core strengths. I have a very relaxed style and realise that students learn better when they are engaged and interested in he content. I like to relate science to a real world context, so that students know why they are being taught the information.

Personal Description:
I'm Ela and I'm a second year chemical engineering student at the University of Bath. I have always loved working with younger people and teaching. I am fluent in both Turkish and English so I can tutor in both languages!

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored maths and chemistry previously in my school, helping students do the questions they struggle with and go through topics they can't wrap their heads around. Alongside my degree I also coach gymnastics to children of different levels and ages. These experiences have taught me how to adopt different teaching methods to different kids and how to make sessions more fun and interactive!
