My general approach to teaching is to enhance individual skills by providing an individual programme for the student. Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice

I have been taught online as well as helped students online with interview preparation. I found it incredibly fulfilling and much easier than travelling around to places, which can be difficult with those with big workloads or don't have much time during their day. I have taught online during the weekends, as it is much easier to fill up time and space, and think it is the best case scenario for everyone. However, I do understand that doing tutoring online might seem like a waste of time, but I feel as though online tutoring can help students concentrate for longer as they have the ability to do it in their own home.

My name is Berlynn. I am currently in my second year studying chemical engineering at the University of Edinburgh. I completed my A levels in mathematics, physics and chemistry, achieving A, A and A* respectively. I am originally from South Africa.

Teaching Experience:
I have previous tutoring experience in mathematics, physics and chemistry, working with students aged 13-17.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is interactive and adaptable. I like to tailor lessons to each student's learning style - whether that is through worked examples, visual explanations, or discussion-based learning. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable and encouraged. I strive to build the student's confidence, and help them to develop a deeper understanding of the subject.
