1. Solidifying concepts: We focus on difficult topics that the student has identified as weak areas.
2. Mark scheme language: Students learn exactly how examiners award marks and how to structure answers for optimal marks.
3. Exam application: We practise past paper questions, applying learned techniques and analyse mistakes.

This approach helps students translate understanding into marks.
My 1:1s are suitable for students with specific topic weaknesses, deadlines for re-sits, need mock/assessment reviews, as it is student-led. I also run hybrid group sessions with 1:1 support.

After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Over the years I've had so many comments from students/colleagues about my ability to break subjects down to ease understanding, and coupled with my passion for science and sharing that with others I decided to change career and become a full-time science tutor. I've never looked back!

I am also a freelance examiner for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) - examining is invaluable to my role as a science tutor and to the development of my students' abilities in preparation for their examinations. I have a surface pro with a pen for online lessons. In economics and maths, I use an online whiteboard which students have permanent access to, to write notes and solutions to exam questions. My approach is to accelerate students as fast as possible through their given course using exam material to deepen and develop their knowledge. I find I can accelerate students rapidly in maths (at GCSE and A-level), whilst they greatly enjoy the subject and the sessions. Students quickly improve at school too, which gives them extra confidence in their talents and capabilities. I set students past papers questions and we resolve any difficulties they had in the session. Iterating through past paper questions in this manner leads to exceptional results: a student of mine came in the top 1% in the entrance exam against Oxford University applicants and gained a place. Similarly, students excel at 11+, 13+, GCSE and A-Level in this manner. Practicing exam material and constantly pushing myself is how I achieved first class hons at the University of Oxford (as well as how I exceled at school), coming top in Game Theory in the exam, so I believe in this approach.

I'm a 19-year-old tutor in Sheffield/London, who has been tutoring GCSE for over a year now during my gap year! I genuinely believe there is no better way to teach than to be relatable and reassuring. I tend to start my tutoring with warm-up questions relating to the previous session as a mini tester for memory. To keep track of content during the session I tend to switch between teaching and worksheets, making sure the student doesn't feel like they're at boring old school again haha. I like to explain a topic, if a student requires. I sometimes ask student to explain a topic as this helps a lot to learn. I practice questions as students need to improve their writing skills. I take tests weekly. I enjoy teaching and want my students to enjoy it too.
