Highly recommend!!! Ellie has genuinely been the best chemistry teacher I have had, she is also an examiner which is a great help as her knowledge is always up to date not only with content but also exam questions and mark schemes. She explains the chemistry in as much detail as you need as opposed to the majority of teachers who focus more on memorisation and wrote learning. When did you start tutoring?
I have started tutoring one of my classmates while I was still in secondary school. It was a rewarding experience and it is quite interesting to go back to those times and compare how much has changed over the years in my lessons.

Why do you tutor?
I was always passionate about explaining Maths and Science to my peers back in school but I could have never imagined that it would become such a core part of my life. Tutoring is not just a source of income for me, it's something that makes me feel valuable in society, it allows helping so many amazing students around the UK to proceed in their future studies and careers. And it was never just theory and exams that we cover during our lessons, my tutoring sessions inevitably involve critical thinking and applying the knowledge in real life, thus I can contribute to students' lives even more.

What is your biggest tutoring success story?
Creating my own professional database of exam-type questions (the aforementioned startup) proved to be a success in my tutoring career since it allowed to spend more time and energy on creating quality resources for students and reuse them during different lessons. It was hard to see the value of the questions initially, but I have noticed that some students started to appreciate them so much that they no longer want to use a textbook during our lessons and I can focus more on their solutions rather than creating questions on the spot. What is your biggest tutoring failure?
I could not distinguish a particular biggest failure while tutoring but there have been several cases when I was able to assess my tutoring, communication, preparation for lessons and enhance them accordingly. Teaching Experience:
I am currently delivering lessons to secondary school students online and preparing them for their upcoming SQA exams. Due to the current social distancing restrictions and uncertainty in schools being able to deliver the same quality of education as they used to, I have started teaching students in the hopes to allow them to reach their full potential and to tackle the subject and course they are studying in the most efficient way I have deemed possible. Over the years of studying for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams, I have complied all the resources that were most used and praised by teachers as well as students preparing for their exams and use them readily to prepare my students.

Before tutoring a student, I identify what qualifications they have received previously in that particular subject as well as what exam they wish to prepare for. Then I highlight the contents of the course, provide the student with resources and give online lessons via Google Meet in which I share my screen so the student can see a Miro whiteboard that I use to write notes and explain/solve questions on. Throughout the lesson, the topics that we cover are revisited through homework questions that I set my students to ensure they have sufficient practice and that they can readily apply their knowledge.

Developing the ability to solve different types of questions challenging you from different angles on the same topics, is what is challenged repeatedly in SQA exams which require efficient skills in problem solving. I help equip the student with the knowledge, practice and expertise to deal with exam-type questions after we have covered the theory (notes/topics) of the subject.

I also take into consideration their learning style when teaching them (i.e. visual learner - drawing diagrams and images, auditory learner - asking verbal questions during lessons, kinaesthetic (doing) learner - making quizzes and tasks).

I am a student studying Biomedical Science in the University of Sunderland with an integrated placement at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. I have a passion for teaching Maths, Science and English as they were some of my favourite subjects in school, and since it hasn't been very long since I've left my secondary education, I am well versed in those three subjects, science to a further level due to my degree. I teach English, Science and Maths right now to a couple students, however, some of my students have now reached University and no longer need my help. This means that I have space to take in more students for these subjects, though I can teach a range.
I have experience in teaching those younger than me in my school days, where I headed an afterschool session once a week for those who needed help with anything they were taught throughout the year. I have been taught online as well as helped students online with interview preparation. I found it incredibly fulfilling and much easier than travelling around to places, which can be difficult with those with big workloads or don't have much time during their day.
