Personal Description:
As a teenager I was lucky enough to receive tuition myself and it made a huge difference, so I really know how much of an advantage it gives.

Tutoring is my full-time job and has been for many years.

I am extremely quick at identifying student problem areas and devising the most efficient solutions, sometimes with budget or time constraints. Where necessary I focus on exam technique as I find many capable and knowledgeable students gain confidence (and marks!) once these skills are taught.

Since March 2020 I have tutored online using Skype, Zoom, Bramble and MS Teams.
This way of tutoring is surprisingly effective and time-saving, with results as good as in-person tuition,
something I probably would not have discovered if it were not for lockdown, as before then I always tutored in person.

As well as many years continuous home-tutoring experience, I have taught in both state and private sectors since 1986; examples being Surrey College (Guildford), Horsell High School (Woking) and Farnborough College of Technology, and the prestigious Seaford College in Petworth, W.Sussex. I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Hi there! My name is Jagon, and I am a passionate and experienced tutor of science at GCSE and Biology A level. I completed both my Masters and my teaching training at the University of Cambridge, which informs my practice with the most current research-based teaching strategies which leads to academic success. What makes me stand out from other tutors is that I have a talent for chunking and clarifying complex concepts into manageable pieces, making it easier for my students to understand and retain what they've learned. Whether you're struggling with a specific topic or need help with an entire subject, I'm here to help you succeed.

My lessons are very much dependent on my initial assessment of the students, but usually involve discussions and activities to identify areas that need developing, explicitly teaching the material that students need help with, checking their understanding, then providing lots of opportunities to practise the content, leading to exam practice by emphasising on examination techniques.

I truly believe that everyone is capable of succeeding in their GCSEs and A level with hard work and the right guidance. I am confident that my experience and genuine passion in science will help my students grow their confidence and achieve great results. I am Dr Satnam, a Cambridge graduate and currently specialising as a psychiatry doctor in the UK. My background in medicine, combined with my passion for teaching, allows me to deliver structured and engaging tutoring sessions in biology, chemistry, psychology, clinical skills, and advanced psychiatry. Having navigated the challenges of medical school and postgraduate exams myself, I understand the complexities students face and aim to provide the strategies and support I wish I'd had during my studies.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience, beginning during my gap year after achieving 3 A*s at A-level, where I supported students in mastering challenging concepts. At Cambridge, I participated in small group supervisions, mentoring junior medical students through complex material. Now, as a practising psychiatrist, I continue to tutor medical students across all years, focusing on clinical skills, exam preparation, and advanced psychiatric topics.
I am also developing a comprehensive online platform for MRCPsych Paper A and B exams to provide concise, exam-focused study materials and practice questions.
