After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. During the last three decades I have worked with numerous students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. As an examiner, I place a heavy emphasis on application of knowledge. We don't just "cover the content"; we deconstruct mark schemes to understand exactly what examiners are looking for. We will focus on:
Command Word Clarity: Understanding the difference between "describe," "explain," and "evaluate."
Memory Retention: Using proven techniques to ensure information sticks long-term.
Mark Scheme Mastery: Learning to write concise, high-scoring answers that hit every marking point.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, though I offer flexibility to accommodate intensive revision or specific topic deep-dives.

Personal Description:
I'm Ela and I'm a second year chemical engineering student at the University of Bath. I have always loved working with younger people and teaching. I am fluent in both Turkish and English so I can tutor in both languages!

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored maths and chemistry previously in my school, helping students do the questions they struggle with and go through topics they can't wrap their heads around. Alongside my degree I also coach gymnastics to children of different levels and ages. These experiences have taught me how to adopt different teaching methods to different kids and how to make sessions more fun and interactive!
