I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning. I also set plenty of work and get them to do past papers which I send to them in the first week. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. I do 2hr concentrated sessions either weekly or fornightly and have seen great results not only in grades but also in enthusiasm for learning. I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Want to achieve Grade 9? Consistent practice with past papers-it's that simple. Having earned straight 9s and 8s in my GCSE subjects, I understand how crucial it is to master not just the content, but the exam technique and strategy that help you "play the game" effectively.

My lesson style includes:
1. Initial group chat with students and parents: understand goals, expectations, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
2. Pre-lesson preparation: I ask students to send me their school materials a week in advance so I can tailor the session to match their curriculum-ensuring lessons feel smooth and never overwhelming.
