I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. I do 2hr concentrated sessions either weekly or fornightly and have seen great results not only in grades but also in enthusiasm for learning. My goal is to cover the necessary content with the most effective, efficient and quickest possible way. I never forget to add some fun :) .
I have already created lesson plants, which help me with the distribution of the content throughout the year/term.
I regularly assess student's progress with questions during the lesson, but also incorporating in the tests Mock tests. Mock tests help the student to familiarise with the process and reduce stress levels for all (student, parents and tutor). Mock tests include past papers (example GCSE/ A levels).
When relevant, we might use demonstrative lectures for science subjects.
