An initial meeting establishes the student's needs and the direction tuition should take. I use Kolbs learning cycle as a benchmark for my training/teaching. It is focused on learning through; observation, abstraction & reflection, experimentation (do & feel) and recycling (concepts, ideas, etc.). It is very practical and puts the learner at the heart of the learning experience. It also involves the motivation, interest and the curiosity of the learner, who may need stimulation, encouragement and to find leaning is fun and fascinating.

My lessons are both guided by the specific requirements of each course and personalized to meet the needs of each individual student. These two factors are fundamental to ensuring individual students utilize resources, build general, academic and practical competence to fulfil their requirements and exam grades. I have been teaching Economics and Business for over 16 years as Head of Economics and Business in three high performing independent schools. This followed 19 years working in commercial roles in the fast moving consumer goods industry, after which I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Business Education) at the University of Roehampton in London.
I am taking early retirement at the end of 25-26 academic year so I will be a full time tutor available whenever I am not on holiday!

Teaching Experience:
Having retrained as a teacher in 2010 I have been teaching Advanced Level and GCSE Economics and Business. I have experience across all major exam boards: Pearson Edexcel, AQA, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and International Baccalaureate Organisation.

My approach to tutoring is very much based upon the needs of the individual. I identify the curriculum areas and exam technique that they wish to develop confidence in and work with tailored practice exercises that meet these goals. I define myself as an introvert, enthusiastic about my subjects and organised. As a teacher, I prioritise relationship building and getting to know the students in front of me, the ones I teach.
I am organised and reliable when it comes to giving access to content taught or practice sheets and approachable.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience in teaching, starting from 2018 when I first worked as an after school activity leader for a STEM business. I delivered these sessions mainly to primary school children year 5,6.
Further down the line I worked as a cover supervisor for a few years when I interacted with a range of different age groups ranging from 12 all the way to 18 year olds. I worked in all through SEN school before having also gained some experience with SEND children and young teenagers.
Furthermore in more recent years I worked with a summer school as a Business tutor where I taught international students Business concepts and applying these to a live Dragon's Den type of project. Lots to skills picked up here such as knowing how to interract with students that don't have English as their first language as well as bringing to the lessons a variety of brands that students can familiarise themselves with in the UK - for students who may wish to study in the UK, in future.
I am now currently a fully qualified Business Teacher in Ware, England.

ever since starting tutoring my aim has always been to cater to the needs of the tutee.
i.e. I have tutored Spanish A level in the past so the aim here was to improve at grammar skills, therefore the focus of the tutoring sessions would mostly be on exam preparation questions, topics that may come up and then 15-2o mins of the session would focus on other areas such as speaking, listening, reading, writing.
I always offer the tutee to travel to them so it is all done in their own comfort.
As a person I am good at picking up on areas for development and find creative ways to bridge the gaps. I am very informal as a tutor and relaxed, flexible.
