About Me. I'm now taking on a small number of private students, as my university commitments have settled. I currently lecture at the University of Salford and have over 28 years of teaching experience. I'm a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Visiting Lecturer at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and also teach in São Paulo, Brazil. The first session will include an informal discussion with parents/tutee to gain an understanding of the tutee's requirements and to explain my role and how I can aid learning. The tutee largely dictates the structure of the sessions, including the subjects they wish to focus on and their preferred learning style, which can be discussed during the first session. As the student develops, the structure can be adapted accordingly.

I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003 and a year later completed my post graduate certificate in Education at the same university. I work for the Cambridge International Exam Board, being an experienced marker of A Level chemistry. Thus, I investigated the source of this lack of understanding then gave a clear explanation and support. Afterwards, I managed to explain various application questions using the struggling contents and interacting with my tutee (ie. asking what the next step would be) as I went through the questions to expand his understanding. I shared my method of working out the questions logically and giving clear guidance helped him greatly, hence, I was able to see improvement in his speed of understanding and solving of the questionnaires, showing a transition in his grades in Mathematics.
