I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

I attended both a state school and a top boarding school and am comfortable to cover topics on and off the standard syllabus.

I am a very fun, friendly person with a wide range of activities and hobbies from inline skating to singing and playing the violin.

I have tutored A-level maths privately for a few years, and also spent several weeks as a teaching assistant in a secondary school during my undergraduate degree as part of the Student Associates Scheme. Many of my contemporaries from university are science and mathematics teachers across England and overseas, and I periodically discuss teaching methods and curriculum changes with them.

I am familiar with both the AQA and OCR exam boards and have taken part in a AQA Continuing Professional Development course for A-level Biology. Before tutoring a student, I identify what qualifications they have received previously in that particular subject as well as what exam they wish to prepare for. Then I highlight the contents of the course, provide the student with resources and give online lessons via Google Meet in which I share my screen so the student can see a Miro whiteboard that I use to write notes and explain/solve questions on. Throughout the lesson, the topics that we cover are revisited through homework questions that I set my students to ensure they have sufficient practice and that they can readily apply their knowledge.

Developing the ability to solve different types of questions challenging you from different angles on the same topics, is what is challenged repeatedly in SQA exams which require efficient skills in problem solving. I help equip the student with the knowledge, practice and expertise to deal with exam-type questions after we have covered the theory (notes/topics) of the subject.

I also take into consideration their learning style when teaching them (i.e. visual learner - drawing diagrams and images, auditory learner - asking verbal questions during lessons, kinaesthetic (doing) learner - making quizzes and tasks).
