Personal Description:
I am an independent tutor with a strong scientific background and have lived in England since Aug 1965. Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. We have a son and a daughter; both graduated from Universities in Manchester. Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun 2008), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. In addition, I am able to speak additional languages (Punjabi; studied up to GCE A-level and Hindi) and prepared to travel up to 5 miles. I have been tutoring Yr 7 - 13 students, in Maths and all Science subjects, since Oct 2008. In addition, I have prepared students from Yr 6, for the 11+ exams; frequently used by private schools, as entrance exams. Testimonials / References (from Students and Parents) are available, on request.

Teaching Experience:

During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide tuition to individual students (or small groups) in the form of friendly, relaxed lessons. Teaching sessions are always customised to meet the specific requirement of the students. Generally, I enjoy teaching and considered to have a caring approach. I use a combination of computer and 'white board' based approach, for creating informal interactive / discussion type sessions, with some form of regular tests and re-cap sessions. Closer to the exams, the lessons are much more focused on using past papers covering a wide range of questions, to enable the students increase their confidence in preparation for the examinations.

Personal Description:
A highly effective educator; experienced, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, with good sense of humour.

I establish rapport with my students. In my long career in teaching, I have learned how to make the most complex concepts in science 'digestible'. My motto is: 'Excellence in Education'.

I am a member of Pi Lambda Theta (International Honour Society in Education).

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Teacher/Lecturer, and have taught for over thirty years in Secondary, and Further/Higher Education in the US, the EU, and the UK. In addition to teaching students, I have trained teachers, as well.

I am very familiar with the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and the International Baccalaureate specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biomedical Science, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning needs. The 'one size fits all' approach to teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well in the right learning environment, and if there are no gaps in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose gaps in content knowledge and fill them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills and exam technique, which figure prominently in my teaching, combined with a well-rounded, in-depth content knowledge, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology, Chemistry, or Psychology exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has grasped the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content come alive. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam-style questions, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers. It goes without saying that regular revision is very important.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced GCSE and A' level Biology Examiner and question setter and an ex-University lecturer in Pharmacy (University of Nottingham). I sat on the examination board for the award of the MPharm degree for nearly a decade and I have experience of teaching within secondary school.

I hold a PhD from Imperial College London. have a strong academic track record and have led cutting-edge research teams for Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Zeneca, Novartis and other major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. I am fascinated by science and maths and I believe my genuine enthusiasm for the fields, combined with my working knowledge, based on years as an active researcher, is evident in my teaching.

I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of individual learners. I have an up-to- date knowledge of the secondary science curriculum, enabling me to teach biology, chemistry, physics and maths at KS3 and GCSE. However, the majority of my students are studying chemistry and/or biology A'level. With my University teaching background I am perfectly placed to be able to support students to achieving the necessary A/A* grades for entry to medicine, vet medicine, dentistry etc.

As a tenured university lecturer I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised 8 PhD students to successful completion of their thesis. Having interviewed numerous UCAS candidates for degree places, I can also offer advice to hone your personal statement.

Teaching Experience:

I get booked up quickly, so first come, first served! Previous A' level exam results (not teacher assessed grades) are: 100% A*-C 85% A*-A 8% B 7% C. 100% of students got into their first choice universities and 31% achieved placed in medical school.

I have 12 years of personal tuition experience, of which 9 years have been as a full-time professional tutor. I am familiar with all the major examination boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB, CIE), I have been a University lecturer in pharmacy for 8 years, I have recent school-based teaching experience at secondary level and I am a biology examiner. My tutoring approach focuses not just on telling students what to write, but helping to deepen their fundamental understanding so they understand why.

I am also the previous Vice-President of The Tutors Association, the professional body for the tuition industry. I was elected into this position by members of the tutoring profession and tutor as a full-time profession.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tuition either online, or face to face from my home. For face to face tuition I have a dedicated space which is free from distractions and all my materials and resources are immediately available to make tuition as effective as possible.

I believe in taking a very individual approach to tutoring, adapting approaches and resources to fit the needs of the individual. Prior to commencing tuition we will agree tuition goals and I will work with these to develop a personalized scheme of learning. During tuition I will monitor student progress and keep records of this so that learning and attainment can be tracked and approaches can be continually adapted to meet the developing needs of the learner.

However, most importantly of all, I believe learning should be fun. I am friendly and approachable and I work hard to ensure students enjoy having tuition, which ultimately will maximize the progress they make.

Personal Description:
**Free Trial Lesson** Available for all of West Yorkshire including Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield. Available on evenings and weekends.

Hi, my name is Ahmad and I`m an experienced A-level Biology tutor with over six years experience with over 4600 hours of biology tutoring experience. My past students have gone onto study degree courses including Medicine, Pharmacy, Aerospace Engineering, Financial Maths, Economics, Physiotherapy, Audiology, Adult Nursing, Primary Education with QTS, Law, Accounting and Finance, Biology, Criminology & Sociology and Forensic Science.

Hi, my name is Ahmad and I'm an experienced A-level Biology tutor with over six years experience and over 5300 hours of biology tutoring experience. My past students have gone onto study degree courses including Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Aerospace Engineering, Financial Maths, Economics, Physiotherapy, Audiology, Adult Nursing, Primary Education with QTS, Law, Accounting and Finance, Biology, Criminology & Sociology and Forensic Science.

Tutoring A level Biology is something that I am passionate about and I have been tutoring for the last six years since 2017. I have tutored A-level Biology to a total of 113 students (AQA and OCR). In terms of my track record for A-level Biology tuition, the highest grade has been an A* grade. I have also tutored GCSE Biology to 32 students (AQA, Edexcel and Edexcel iGCSE). The highest grade here has been a grade 9.

With each student, I made sure my lessons are focused and very efficient, making sure the student thoroughly understands the topic area. Exam question practice is absolutely crucial for a strong exam performance in A-level Biology. The best grades do not go to the one who memorises a textbook off by heart. The best grades are achieved by those students who have done lots and lots of exam question practice. With me as a tutor, we will aim to cover questions from over 60 exam papers. This is to ensure the strongest possible performance in the real exams.

With me as a tutor, I will also facilitate the student to completely finish the Biology content five months before the exam. This approach is strongly recommended as it gives the student a total of five months to do intense exam practice. I am familiar with both the AQA and OCR exam boards and have taken part in a AQA Continuing Professional Development course for A-level Biology. In addition to tutoring, I have been teaching other subjects to students mainly between the ages of 12-18 at an established educational Institute in Bradford for seven years. I also have experience in studying at the University of Leeds on a Biomedical Science degree programme.

19 reviews for my tuition services are quoted as follows (these references can be independently verified upon request):

7) From Khurram: (5/5) I am rating Mr Ahmed as excellent in all sections of biology because I believe that he deserves this rating. Being knowledgeable does not always mean being able to teach but he has both skills so it is not surprising that we are already seeing improvements at school. Mr Ahmed is not concerned or money orientated but will give his full effort to complete the set targets. He is not only friendly but motivates my daughter to be ready for the next lesson. At the end of the lesson he provides a progressive and truthful feedback. Excellent A* Tutor. (18th November 2019)

My daughter has made great progress over the months. I have no hesitation in recommending Ahmad and will be keeping in touch with my daughters A Level results, due in a couple of months time. 16) Sulaiman K (5/5)Amazing. Knows exactly what he's talking about and honestly makes the lesson so interactive. 17th July 2022

My daughter has started with him at GCSE and achieved grade 9 and now she is continuing A-Level with him and we are sure to achieve A*.He is patient, kind, helpful and very good at explaining things. He is very easy to get along with, knowledgeable and his lessons are always well planned. We were lucky to find him (1st September 2022)

18) Renu M (4/5) I found Ahmad very helpful for exam question practice, which is very important to do well in Biology. He keeps a graph to track progress

I found Ahmad very helpful for exam question practice, which is the main thing he focuses on rather than explaining content, unless you get a question wrong because you don't know the information. He keeps track of which questions you get wrong and then recaps them at the beginning of the next lesson until you get full marks on it, which I found really helpful. In the end I managed to get an A* in my A level exam thanks to Ahmad! (20th October 2022)

19) Hannah N (5/5)
Ahmad is incredibly hard-working, kind, thoughtful and has really helped my daughter who is studying for her Biology A'Level in Year 13. We are so relieved that we have his brilliant support to help her understanding of this subject as she prepares for Mocks and her A'Level. Thank you so much Ahmad. You are invaluable. Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary teacher, with over 15 years experience in teaching, and tutoring, within school and online. I also have over 12 years experience as a GCSE and A level Science examiner. I am a very patient, supportive, friendly, encouraging, reliable and hard working teacher/tutor.

I have always had alot of success tutoring science and maths online, with all pupils gaining the grades they were predicted or in most cases even higher.

I also offer lessons during all the school holidays times.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher specialising in Science and Maths. I have extensive teaching and tutoring experience, in schools and online, in both mainstream teaching and special educational needs teaching. I have successfully taught and tutored pupils for 11 plus and 13 plus entrance exams, as well as for GCSE's in both Maths and all three Sciences, as well as Combined Science, and for A level Biology and Chemistry.

I have also 12 years GCSE and A level Science examiner marking experience, which allows me to support and explain to pupils what examiners are looking for within exam question answers.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a detailed knowledge of all current syllabus for GCSE Sciences, Maths, (as well as Maths and Science IGCSE, Functional Skills, and BTEC), and all current A level Chemistry and Biology syllabus's. I use a combination of theory, exam practice questions, past paper questions, and workbooks in the lessons, to improve pupil confidence with exam technique, and focus on exam skills.

In addition, I adapt my teaching methods to support the pupils learning needs and help to identify areas of study in which they need help to improve. I also look at revision methods and planning revision timetables with pupils to help them find the option which works best for their learning needs.

Personal Description:
I am a secondary school science teacher with Physics specialism. I have tutored KS3 and KS4 while I was at university and have carried on since. I thoroughly enjoy the one to one interaction with students to help them learn and reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored Science for KS3 and Physics for KS4 for the last 7 years. I currently teach science and physics in a secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

Most issues tutees encounter are due to a lack of confidence or an inadequate teaching method. Each person is different therefore various approaches -tailored to the tutee- have to be used to reach our objectives.

Your success is my success, your failure is also mine. So let's get started and put ourselves on the path to success

During the first session together, I use part of the time to discuss with the tutee objectives and expectations, hence only half the fee needs to be paid.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Nicola - a final year graduate medical student at the University of St Andrews.
I have a BSc (Hons) in Biology also from the University of St Andrews.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a tutor for 4 years now, and I have tutored a variety of subjects and ages, from primary to SQA highers.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach sailing during the summers to children and adults alike, so I can quickly adjust topics and lessons to be suitable for different age ranges. I love working out how each individual learns best and strive to ensure everyone I teach reaches their full potential. I want to make the learning process fun and enjoyable, and not be seen as a chore! I tailor my lessons to the student's abilities and personality. I try to link the subject to their interests, as I believe that people learn best when they are interested in a subject and can see the relevance of what they're studying.
I have personally sat exams in both the Cambridge IGCSE and Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher syllabuses, so I understand both the exam boards themselves and how to research the specifics of new exam boards. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Personal Description:
I have been working with children and teaching for over 20 years. I love teaching children of all ages. I really enjoy seeing children progress and their confidence grow. This is one of the reasons I really like tutoring, due to the progress being so rapid.

I live in Nuthall, Nottinghamshire with my husband and two children. Since having children, I have worked part time in schools and also I have done lots of tutoring.

Although I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects in Primary schools, I enjoy teaching maths the most. I think this is because I found it so hard at school. I really understand the barriers a lot of children have in maths and love to help them to develop a love of it.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a primary school teacher for 17 years. I have taught mainly in key stage 2 but I have experience of key stage one.

I have worked mainly in year 6 preparing children to pass their SATs and also I have tutored children to pass their 11+ exams. Being a year 6 teacher for such a long time has made me extremely confident in helping children to revise and succeed in their assessments.

I have worked closely with children who have additional needs throughout my career and I have attended lots of training in the past to support this. During the school day I tutor a large number of children who are not in education (for various reasons) and have lots of experience in helping these children.

I will adapt learning to the individual need of your child/children. Making it as interactive and fun as possible.

Although I am trained in Primary I am happy to work with secondary children who need additional support too.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to try tailor the sessions to meet the needs of the individual. I love doing this because it is something that all children need but as a classroom teacher of 30 is not always possible.

If your child needs active learning, if they need lots of repetition to make the learning stick then I can do that. I will try to make the learning as fun as possible and I will also provide home tasks (optional) to support your child's learning in between sessions.

Any questions or just for some advice or a chat please get in touch. I also run group sessions each week which are obviously cheaper than the 1:1 option.
