I am an experienced Head of Physics and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science. Hello to all prospective students. My name is Mark and I have been teaching secondary level Science and maths for over 10 years. I am personally passionate about learning and endeavour to ignite the same love of learning in each student that I teach.

I have loved science and maths from a young age and went on to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences, prior to my secondary teacher training. I hope to continue to work with young people to help them realise their own goals in the fields of science and engineering.

I have been working with children and teaching for over 20 years. I love teaching children of all ages. I really enjoy seeing children progress and their confidence grow. This is one of the reasons I really like tutoring, due to the progress being so rapid.

I live in Nuthall, Nottinghamshire with my husband and two children. Since having children, I have worked part time in schools and also I have done lots of tutoring.

My career spans senior teaching, research, and leadership positions across universities, independent sixth forms, and specialist schools. I have a particular strength in supporting neurodiverse students, having spent eight years teaching science in specialist schools for the National Autistic Society. With over 20 years in science education, I have taught and led in diverse academic environments-ranging from Russell Group universities to top-performing schools and specialist SEN provisions. My background combines subject expertise, leadership experience, and a strong understanding of both mainstream and individualised educational pathways.

Higher Education & Curriculum Development
Working in research and teaching at several UK universities, I served as Head of Science and Academic Partnerships, where I led curriculum design, academic strategy, and cross-institutional collaborations. I taught Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, and Molecular Biology, and supervised undergraduate research and dissertations.

For many years now, I have found great joy and passion in teaching and mentoring. As the pandemic has changed the way we approach education, I have adapted my teaching methods to ensure continuity of learning for my students. Since COVID-19, I have accrued over 300 hours of online teaching and mentoring experience via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, providing a safe and convenient way for students to learn from the comfort of their own homes.
