I am a retired graphic designer/partner in design consultancies and magazine art director, now a painter and photographer.

ART: I like to find out as much as I can about my students before beginning to teach them. I like to meet them and see their portfolios. My first duty is to make sure that drawing is taught to an academic standard before more creative work is undertaken. I have taught in the UK for over 10 years and have extensive experience in teaching Art at A-level and at GCSE. I see myself as a 2D specialist as I can do a number of different techniques and have an experimental approach to teaching Art. Every project is unique and I am constantly learning. I would work with the student to find out exactly what their special skill is in Art. Students will need to find a topic that inspires them and do some visual research on this and I would then help the students by teaching them a range of different techniques, learning how to draw in a number of media from pencil, chalk, oil pastel, pen and ink, biro and graphite and then teach them how to paint in gouache, acrylic, watercolour and use a mixed media approach. Textiles is also a medium I would offer students and basic construction techniques. Adobe photoshop skills is also important in developing photographic images as part of the development. Developing different skills until the student finds out what they particularly enjoy working with and helping the student to explore different media to extend their ideas and lead the students up to developing a final piece. The students would then have a whole project from beginning to end which will help with portfolio development.

I am a professional Theatre Stage and Costume Designer (M.F.A. graduated in 2004), and I have worked in many theatre productions in UK and abroad, as a stage, set and costume designer as well as a puppet maker. I am an RCA MA Painting graduate, and I have a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art from Westminster University, and a Foundation diploma in Art & Design from the University for the Creative Arts. I am a practicing artist based in London, specializing in painting, and I have been showing my work nationally and internationally. I was an art scholar at school, and studied Illustration (BA Hons) in Cambridge. Design and craft have always been a part of my career, but I began drawing again a few years ago now, during the evenings after my daughter had gone to bed and I was immediately reminded of the therapeutic effects drawing and being creative can be, especially for a creative mind.

I posted a couple on Instagram and they were sold within minutes. Since then, I have had the most amazing commission requests for the inks and over the last year have been commissioned several times to draw women during their later stages of pregnancy - such an intimate time to commemorate, each one is incredibly special.
The nudes evoke different energies, feelings, emotions - celebrating all bodies, all curves, and all that a body can do and enjoy.

I work across all media - sculpting is a huge favourite of mine, along with botanical watercolours, and portrait sketches.

I would love to help those wanting to explore art in general, understand the basics, explore different styles and find a new outlet. For those wanting to improve, I would also love to help.

My main subject is Surface Pattern Design, where I enjoy freehand art work and enhance into digital manipulation or a repeat pattern, leading the end result to be printed for either clothing apparel, interior soft furnishings & wallpaper.

From this I gained a valuable insight into the fashion and textiles industry. My love for creating designs has continued throughout the years.

I decided to challenge my passion within Arts and Crafts and teach people that have the same passion as I.

I am currently delivering mixed-media techniques, DTF Sublimation, any Textiles related products to all age groups and organisations. I am also in the process of setting up a Sip and Paint event, this can be a great way of team building for businesses, Hen Parties, Family Events, Couples and much more..

Teaching Experience:
Art-
Adults/Sixth Form/FE Colleges/Universities - one to one tutoring, group workshops.Portfolio preparation, drawing, painting, sketchbook work

Design-
Textiles, fashion design, illustration, visual communications, printmaking, art therapy with the use of colours, Moodboard Creation. Basic Sewing Skills.

Crafts
Mixed media, Mark Making, Sewing (how to make a small bag). Sublimation DTF Printing, T-shirt designs.

Tutoring Approach:
All lessons will involve practical sessions, to include drawing techniques, perspective and visual skills, along with demonstrations handouts (Recording visual drawings, research and ideas in a sketchbook, Annotations will also be encouraged in sketchbook work.

Depending on age groups, I will focus on how to achieve best results to prepare for exams, as well as for portfolio preparations.

Some materials will be provided by myself and by the learner, however, I will be able to suggest where and what materials to purchase.

Lessons will be tailored to the learners personal needs.
