I am a professional artist and Art Tutor/Coach/Mentor. A graduate of The Royal College of Art in 1999 with an MA in Painting, with solo and group exhibitions including The National Portrait Gallery and The Royal Academy of Arts, London. I have been teaching and mentoring young people and adults, all levels up to Master degree since 1994. My deep knowledge of the arts and extensive experience, has produced a simple and comprehensive system, which inspires a student to follow and achieve their highest potential fast. I studied Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art in the 1980's. As an artist I work figuratively. Through drawing in either pencil, charcoal, ink or pen I take my work forward into 3D materials and use photography as a major influence to inform my structures. I love to work with natural forms and use printing processes including lino cut, drypoint and stencil.
I have lived and worked in Lewes for the past 25 years. We have a family home on the outskirts of the town where I also teach Privately - both individually and group classes.

My name is Hannah and I am an American watercolour artist with a bachelor's of Fine Art with Honours from New York. I am an artist-teacher whose passion lies within nature and its use as a subject within art education. Exploring themes of organic matter, leaning towards natural history and science, I have a keen interest in the philosophy of Wabi-sabi and creating symmetrical imagery using objects that may be deemed imperfect, worthless or unattractive.

I studied Illustration at University and specialise in bookmaking, screen printing onto textiles and observational drawing.

Recently I have had an artist book on display at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, images displayed in CRATE, participated in projects with Dover Arts Development and had my work displayed alongside my students at the Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury. My passion for Art, Crafts and Design has been of paramount importance to me and sharing my knowledge and skills to all learners in these subjects.I have been drawing, painting and designing for over 40 years. I qualified as a Printed Textile Designer from Polytechnic of East London, on the BA Hons in Combined Studies Course.

From this I gained a valuable insight into the fashion and textiles industry, working with design studios. My love for creating designs continued on to the Masters Degree course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where I worked for Terence Conan Design Studios.

I developed an excellent rapport with artists and designers in the industry and decide, after several years of working for top high Street retailers as a fashion and textile designer, to build my own company up whilst teaching in Further Education. I became Head of the Fashion and Textiles Course in a top London college. Here all my students on the BTEC Diploma Level 3 and Level 4 courses gained work placements with Vivienne Westwood, Zandra Rhodes and many more. Many entered into their first choice Universities with my knowledge of putting their portfolios together and teaching life drawings to accompany their portfolios.

After having taught Fashion, Textiles and Art and Design for many years, I decided to challenge my other passion in Fitness. With my qualifications as Tutor and Assessor, I began delivering gym and personsal training courses to 16 to 18 year olds and 19 plus learners.

Based on my volunteering experience I can introduce my self as an arts and craft tutor. The materials I use in my art sessions varies from normal stationery, paper, air dry clay and fabric and the projects I have done with my students are Abstract art, paper and fabric collage, air dry clay sculpturing and lots of other miscellaneous, random recycled stuff.
