A true renaissance man, Alex makes: mini epic films, video installations, games, photographs, sculpture, blogs and books. Using readily available materials and software the work often has a feeling of improvisation, an initial throwaway idea made visible.

Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

I have taught a range of students of all ages and backgrounds from: National Diploma, Extended Diploma, Art Foundation, Degree to MA level.
I have experience in all fields of art and design but my specialist areas include: Sculpture, Drawing, Video, Art History, Cotextual Studies, Art Theory and installation.

Painting and exhibiting for over 15 years professionally, specialising in oil & acrylic portraiture, landscape and abstract subject matter, My paintings foundation is from a hyper-realistic background, a portrait style which I studied and explored during and after my university education, while in recent years expanding to expressive mark making and more ambitious subject matter.
My main passions are within the visual arts and teaching drawing and painting. I teach a range of techniques in my art lessons such as palette knife, paint brush techniques and technical sketching methods. I also instruct with a diverse variety of mediums such as pastel, charcoal, pencil, acrylic and oil paint as well as mixed media.
With my background in hyper-realism portraiture, I specialise in realist portraiture with also experience in landscape and abstract/expressive mark making.

Whether studying for GCSEs, A Levels, University or just your own enjoyment, I teach at a level best suited for the learner and the goals in which they pursue. I would encourage students studying for grades to follow certain assessment checkpoints which would be revolved around contextual and method referencing, self reflection, experimentation and consolidation. This will vary for different learners at different stages and obviously with different interests. I do stress though at the heart of my teaching is learning to explore personal artistic growth. These are skills which are easily transferable to whatever stage you're at with your art practice.

A teacher with a degree in Photographic arts. Passionate and knowledgeable about digital and analogue photography, with the ability to teach post-production editing in Photoshop. I also do photography for my own enjoyment, specifically looking at landscape and architectural photography. I have freelanced previously as a wedding photographer but that life was just not for me as I much prefer teaching the subject as a career! I am very friendly and supportive of all my tutees and their parents.

I am currently teaching at a private school, teaching A-Level and GCSE Photography and KS3 Art. I have worked with AQA and Edexcel and I am up to date on my standardisation procedures for Edexcel examing board, most recently having been on a training course in November 2023. I have been teaching art to all ages and levels since 2010. After graduating from the Royal Drawing School in London, I ran drawing classes for them in various venues including Whitechapel Gallery, The V&A Museum, The National Gallery, and Saatchi Gallery. After the Royal Drawing School I set up and ran Root Drawing, an experimental drawing class for local artists. On residency in India I taught BA students and on my return to London taught in further education at the Art Academy. I have since developed my own practice in painting at the Turps Art School in London. For the last four years I have run the A level Art department at the Krishnamurti school, Brockwood Park in Hampshire, UK. I now continue my artistic practice in residence while guest tutoring at the Burnt Sienna Art School in Berlin. I have worked both in institutions and privately on a one to one basis.
