I formed my first band at 15 and have been teaching, playing and song-writing in bands ever since, playing in venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Dingwalls, The Marquee, Chinnery's, 100 club, playing alongside artists such as Finley Quaye, Boy George and the Brand New Heavies. My band Sentivo was on Long Lost Brother Records (Jamiroquai, SIA) making recordings for producers such as Mickey Most, Joey Negro and Mark Knight. I studied Music/Guitar Theory at a college in London where I gained my Music Diploma. I am now currently teaching guitar part time at a college in Southend and teaching private and one to one guitar lessons whilst playing, singing and writing music & lyrics for my new band

I am a GTC (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered Maths teacher with a first class hons BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Edinburgh University and a background in engineering and industry.

While I am highly academically qualified, I understand how it feels to struggle with study and the benefit of getting extra support. I found parts of maths and language difficult at school and was lucky to have a couple of very understanding teachers who helped correct the damage to confidence and understanding left by some rather less sympathetic practitioners.

Those "Aha moments" that my student's experience when they make the connections that help it all make sense... sadly so often missed out in some of the narrowly focused school based classroom environments...

The students who go from bottom of the class and being advised they should aim for N4 not N5, to achieving A grades and their teachers recommending them for higher...

The students who were failing and dispirited who progress to pass with very secure B grades, their confidence and positivity restored.
