Personal Description:
Based in Wantage (Oxfordshire) Jim has been providing drum tuition to players of all ages and level of ability since 2003.

He has been teaching private drum tuition for 7 years from his home studio. Many of his students have been with him for a long time. His teaching is based largely on the Gigajam syllabus and he likes to think that he brings the syllabus to life and makes it interesting and relevant for his students.

Teaching Experience:
He always make sure that he tailors his teaching to suit each student as an individual and that he treats them as such. Regardless of their age or ability he gives them all the same amount of attention and always does his utmost to support and motivate them.

He has been a gigging drummer since the age of 14 and has played in numerous bands at numerous gigs and events. He draws upon his own experiences (good and bad) to empathise with his students and to help and assist where he can, be it with a tuning issue, a drum repair or upgrade or helping them to stay focused while learning a new and sometimes difficult technique.

He is a well motivated, outgoing and cheerful person and that comes across in his lessons. He likes to keep things upbeat (no pun intended) and fun, as he believes that music should be something that is enjoyable and pleasurable and not a chore.

I am French and I've been living in England for many years. I like meeting new people and having fun while teaching. In my experience, I've found that students appreciate learning languages with loads of different material like music, games, films, books, videos and the internet platform in general. I think tutoring has to be interesting and entertaining as well as efficient. I try to be funny, joyful but focused at the same time. I'm a master student from China majoring in human nutrition in Glasgow university. Before this, in my undergraduate university in China I have worked as a proofreader of dictated draft from speech records for student union. I'm good at wording and grammar. Recently I learned a little German and Arabic to experience how people speaking varies around the world and also inspired by these teachers as to how to approach to a language from 0.

Teaching Experience:
During this year I have taught a classmate mandarin from 0. He is a Scottish. However, he is keen to learn a wide variety of languages. When he found Korean and Malay easier he gave up mandarin. Such a worldwide culture vulture! Anyway, no matter you learn mandarin for culture, travel, work, yellow-face friends, curiosity, or just Chinese restaurants, you are all warmly welcome! I can teach you from the basic pronunciation which is like singing to beautiful Chinese characters which is like dancing.....

I'm only available from September to December 2016. I'm friendly and very patient. If you have time for homestudying I can teach more during tutorial; if not, we will practice more together to consolidate memory. Language is for communication, absolutely not for getting a high score!

I am a practising Head of English currently employed in a local secondary school. I live with my husband, Year 10 daughter, my 17 year old son who is training to be a Land Surveyor and our pets. I have, in previous years, taught Drama (for which I am also qualified), History and Religious Studies as I have a joint honours degree in English and Victorian Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for English and Drama.

I have 20 years of teaching experience, many of which are in local schools and I am Head of English in a local secondary school which I am really enjoying. I am a GTC (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered Maths teacher with a first class hons BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Edinburgh University and a background in engineering and industry.

While I am highly academically qualified, I understand how it feels to struggle with study and the benefit of getting extra support. I found parts of maths and language difficult at school and was lucky to have a couple of very understanding teachers who helped correct the damage to confidence and understanding left by some rather less sympathetic practitioners.

I have many interests from sports and the environment to languages and the arts and believe in lifelong learning to help gain new skills remain adaptable and responsive to change. I have distinctions from the OU in maths and psychology courses and continue to access various online learning opportunities. This enables me to take a broad outlook and to encourage students to think widely and deeply about opportunities and issues in the world.

HI! I'm Ollie, a 2nd year undergraduate at Oxford University (Christ Church college) studying Philosophy and French.

I come from a native French background (with a French mother). Therefore, I have been lucky to spend my summer holidays at my grandparent's house in France granting me full conversational fluency.

The subsequent academic study of French has allowed me to gain that rigorous understanding of the French language - and, in the last few years, a fair amount of literature - which gives me the requisite knowledge to help children reach their potential in this subject.

Teaching Experience:
In my secondary school from the ages of 15 to 18 I acted as a student mentor, a role which has both pastoral and academic capacities. In the academic part of my role, I helped other pupils with French from the ages of 11 to 16 who had been selected as they were struggling in their classes. As such, I feel that I am able to help children at any level of ability not solely restricted to the higher level.

Outside the school environment, since the age of 16, I have tutored other children in my local area, especially when leading up to exam seasons. Managing both the anxieties and responsibilites of these periods with students taught me a lot about effecitve communication styles and empathy.
