Tutoring Approach:
I like to break up whichever subject I am tutoring into the various topics that make up the syllabus. I will then go through each lesson the different topics ensuring the student has understood what I am explaining, if not I will explain it again in a different way to ensure they have understood. I will then set regular homeworks and closer to the exam time go through past papers keeping parents up to date with their childs progress. I am convinced that one-to-one tuition is by far the most efficient way in which a person can progress and gain confidence. Often someone can grasp a topic in 5 minutes of one-to-one that would have taken 2 hours to cover with a larger group. Once you are confident with a topic, we move on rapidly to the next one. A current A level tutee of mine told his father "I learnt more in that 2 hour session than I have all term at school" and his headteacher wrote to congratulate him on his improved grades. I'm Laurence. I attended the University of Oxford between 2010 and 2018, completing an undergraduate masters of mathematics (MMath) and a doctorate in mathematical biology (DPhil, PhD). I have 5+ years experience of tutoring the UK mathematics syllabus.

I've greatly enjoyed mathematics from an early age. On a personal level, I have found that studying mathematics has helped me appreciate the beauty of the universe - hence my specialism into applied mathematics.
