Teaching Experience:
I have 27 years teaching experience of both GCSE and A Level Accounting and Business Studies, as well as vast experience in the delivery and support of vocational business related courses at both level 2 and level 3. I have extensive knoweldge of the AQA A level Business Studies specification, as well as AQA and Edexcel GCSE specifications. I am great with children and I find it easy to relate to struggles and problems that they may be facing in school. Teaching Experience:
I have experience of teaching in summer schools in East London to children aged 5-17. I have also had work experience in Shooter's Hill Sixth Form teaching GCSE Maths. For the last six years I have helped guide students to passing the 11+, achieving great results at their Year 6 SATs and building confidence in students that were not fond of Maths prior to meeting me. I am able to stay up to date with the national curriculum and show students a number of ways of how to arrive at the correct answer.

My approach to teaching Maths is locating areas of where there is lack of understanding and building foundation from there. The most common problem is that some concepts have not been understood and therefore the student cannot go further until it is understood. It is therefore pivotal that an initial assessment takes place.

Teaching is something that I enjoy doing. I believe in clarity and tend to teach people in methods which I wish I was taught. I break things down and offer plenty chances for the student to ask questions. My approach to tutoring is to equip the student with relevant knowledge first then immediate application. I want to create an environment where the student can inform me if they do not understand the topic. I like to give simple questions until they are confident enough to deal with an advanced question. I have studied PGCE Mandarin at a university in the Uk and obtained a qualified teacher certificate. I am teaching Mandarin at a school in the south of England. All of my students like my teaching because not only can they learn mandarin listening, speaking, reading and writing, but they also enjoy learning about the different Chinese cultures as well as taking part in many activities at the same time. All of my GCSE year students have achieved A* grade GCSE Mandarin. I am a mandarin native speaker and I used to be a compere on the stage in China. I taught Chinese language and Chinese dancing in a Chinese school in the UK for 14 years.

I have a long experience of teaching mathematics on various levels from GCSE mathematics up to university level. I am currently the Mathemtics Subject Leader on the Warwick University Higher Education Foundation Programme at Stratford upon Avon College. I teach mathematics on this programme. I also teach A level mathematics and A level Further Mathematics. I run a workshop preparing students to sit for AEA mathematics and STEP papers.
From 1999 to 2004 I was a member of the Mechanics Development Group of the MEI A level Mathematics Board whose task was to develop the mechanics syllabus and provide training for teachers teaching A level mathematics.

All students are different, so I strive to find what interests the student and work from there. An engaged student is a keen student.

It is important that the principles are understand because all else flows from this. I use examples from the students' course work and life situations to focus on what is important to the student, to put things in a language that they can understand. This can be through explanations, sketches, diagrams etc. When this happens and the light goes on, there is great satisfaction that the student is taking an interest in the subject.

I first began to take interest in education in late 2016 during my second year of studies at Falmouth University, after undertaking 'skills for music leaders' module, where I studied different approaches to formal and non-formal music education. In September 2017, I have taken my ambitions to teach guitar further and fully dedicated my third year of studies to learn about ethics in music education, and began work experience with Cornwall Music Service Trust. I have shadowed 3 guitar teachers as well as 1 violin teacher and learned how to work with children aged between 6-16. I have actively engaged during the lessons, and helped as much as it was possible. I observed their teaching style and studied how to apply it into my own practice, gaining very good references
