For A'level and GSCE students, material is taught as per their exam board requires, with plently of emphasis on the importance of past paper revision.

For younger children I specialise in Vendic Mathematics, subtraction via addition, estimate and adjust, etc. As well as applying the story book method to assist a childs memory techniques.

All students are taught about goal setting principles, motivating themselves and not settling for real and achievable standards.

I live in West Cornwall with my young family, and currently work as a private tutor and academic mentor. Born in Brighton, it was there in 2009 I completed my teacher training and began a career as a science teacher.

I am a teacher of French, Italian and Spanish in St Ninian's High School, within East Renfrewshire. I graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a joint Honours degree in French and Italian (language and studies). I also have a Masters in Marketing which I also obtained from the University of Strathclyde. I spent a year abroad in Lyon, France, during my fourth year of university, where I worked as an English Language Assistant in two high schools. I am a qualified French & Italian teacher in secondary education with 13 years experience delivering BGE, National and Higher courses. During my fourth year of University, I worked in two high schools in Lyon, France as an English language assistant, teaching children, teenagers and young adults, from the age of nine to twenty three. I was responsible for helping them with all aspects of the language, and developing their reading, writing, listening and verbal skills by preparing and working on a number of different activities. I also taught them about British culture, history and lifestyles so as to help develop their knowledge of Britain, particularly Scotland, in general. I take a different approach to my tutoring depending on the individual I am working with. On my first session with my tutee I will find out the areas that they are experiencing the most difficulty in, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as this will help me to develop an effective and helpful way of teaching. I prepare various worksheets, practice tests and activities which are interactive and will allow for valuable learning. I will ask the tutee what their preferred way of learning is and look at ways in which they successfully learn in other subjects and try to incorporate this in to my way of teaching. I encourage tutees to ask questions wherever necessary and to state if they wish me to try a different approach. I believe communication is the key to successful learning and I pride myself on my friendly and approachable nature and my ability to achieve results in my tuition. I am a native French speaker, aged 21, currently working in a school in Gateshead as a French Language Assistant, so I am already used to teaching my own language. I also aim to become an English teacher after completing my teaching degree in France. I will be in Newcastle until the end of May, when my contract with the school ends. After this I will go back to France to finish my studies.

I am passionate about literature and music, and would be able to teach cultural aspects of France if that is what you are looking for. I have also always loved languages since I was a child, I learnt English and German from the age of 10, I also did some Spanish and Russian at the end of secondary school, and I have been trying to learn Italian for the last few months. I'm currently working in finance for Molson Coors, having previously worked in external audit for PwC for 4 years where I obtained my ACA qualification.
Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. I am interested in sharing some of the things I have learnt over my years in education with others, which is why I'm keen to tutor. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing netball and renovating my house.

Teaching Experience:
I have previously mentored students through their GCSEs and Alevels at secondary school and really enjoyed it. I am the coach of a netball team so this also gives me skills which help to make me a better tutor such as patience, organisation and effective communication skills.

I believe tutoring is the responsibility of both the tutor and the tutee. I would like to plan sessions which are stimulating, engaging and involve ideas bouncing between the two of us, whether that is through debate, discussions or question and answer sessions.
