I recently graduated in Italian Studies and I have a true passion for the Italian language and literature. My studies and my travels all around Italy gave me the chance to widen my knowledge about all aspects of the Italian culture from the linguistic to the historical point of view. My professional ambition is to contribute to the diffusion and promotion of the Italian culture: teaching my native language is the way that helps me better reach this goal. I am an Italian national who has been living in Bristol since September 2012 and having had a long time experience as an Italian teacher for students who have participated in the AFS Intercultural Program, it has not been difficult to insert myself here as a private Italian teacher.
I have a deep understanding of the GCSE program since I am tutoring three English secondary school students who are having difficulties with the Italian language. They lack interest and enthusiasm thus each lesson becomes more difficult but a challenge for me. I am looking for lessons that give them the enthusiasm they are missing and I must say that I am succeeding; sometime I see that the textbook is very dry and for this reason, my personal teaching materials often replaces the book.
My method is based a lot on grammar induction, stimulating conversations with the student, based on body movements for understand the action of the various stages of the exploration of the basic construction of the verb tense. A few years ago I enrolled in a workshop offered at the university about the use and choice of scene Italian films for understand better the Italian style-life and that has been quite useful to my teaching of Italian culture.
In Italy I have had own bookshop where I held my Italian lesson, therefore I know very well many documentaries and lectures mostly (or particularly) on Ancient Rome. Furthermore, I have been a guide in the city of Rome and I'm perfectly capable of organizing a cultural trips.

My name is Michael and I teach private one to one drum kit lessons to people of all ages, in and around the Yorkshire area. I have been playing the drum kit for over 20 years and started playing at the early age of 11. Since then I have been in many bands and performed in many venues in and around the Yorkshire area.
After studying music at school in Scotland and forming my first band I soon found myself addicted to the drum kit. I decided I wanted to further my skills by getting private drum kit lessons which helped me gain my Standard Grade/GCSE and Higher Grade/A-Level in Music. I then furthered this by studying a BTEC in Popular Music at Huddersfield Technical College and a BA (Hons) in Popular Music at the University of Sheffield. I have also recently completed my PGCE in Life Long Learning at the University of Huddersfield and hold QTLS with IfL.

Teaching Experience:
I had my first teaching experience when I was 16 years old at a music workshop during the summer holidays where I was involved in teaching groups of people how to play the drum kit within a band setting. At the end of the workshops each group that had formed had to perform their songs to the public.

Since then I always had a desire to pursue my teaching and in 2006 I started teaching at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley. Initially, I only had a couple of students that I would teach in my spare time between my job and other commitments. However, more students started coming and having only started with a couple I soon had enough to become self-employed and put my all into my teaching.

Learning how to learn is important for everyone and I can help students build their own study skills , developing both abilities and confidence. My own love for learning is evidenced by my hobbies which extend from sailing through to singing, piano, camping and walking and even the piano accordion. I'm a local musician playing piano and violin to a high level and want to continue to pass on my experience of playing an instrument to as many people as possible of all ages.
