I am presently second in charge in science at a secondary school and I teach chemistry, biology and physics across KS3 and KS4.

I have passed a Chemistry postgraduate course. This has improved my subject knowledge to be able to teach chemistry to 'A' level. I also can teach biology to 'A' level.

Tutoring Approach:
Before I begin to tutor, I will assess what level you are currently working at. I will also speak to you in depth about what you do and do not understand about a topic.

I will then take you through the topic at a pace that you feel comfortable at. You will be set homework to test your understanding. In preparation for exams, you will be given ideas for revision that will help your style in learning and pass papers to prepare for exam format.

I am currently teaching at one of the top independent schools for girls in Berkshire. I hold a PhD in chemistry, which gives me sound knowledge of the subject and I have completed my teacher training at the University of Cambridge.
I am told to be an approachable person which allows me to build a very good working relationship with my students. They are never afraid of asking questions and this gives me the opportunity to identify problems and rectify them quickly.

I am a chemistry specialist and I have five years experience of teaching Edexcel IGCSE and OCR A/B A level qualifications in a high achieving school. I do not have a unique approach. All students are different and they have all different needs. I try building a relationship of trust and listen to what their needs are. Very often is the case that they lack confidence and they just need some reassurance. Chemistry is a challenging subject but most students can do very well provided they have self belief and are willing to work hard.

I am an Open University graduate with a 2.1 Honours degree in Computing, Science, and Mathematics. I have taught Computer Aided Design and Engineering Mathematics at my local college. As an assistant professor in different countries overseas and as a lecturer/tutor in the UK universities (Oxford, Cambridge and UCL), I have had the opportunity to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in a variety of subjects ranging from organic and medicinal chemistry to drug design. While the courses and students may have differed, the evaluation of my teaching has remained consistently excellent and I became a fellow in teaching with Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the UK.

I usually tend to approach lessons by going through the background of the topic in focus and a few worked examples before giving students questions to answer themselves and going through worked solutions. Independent practice is a key part of becoming stronger in a subject, and the more a student practices, the better they will get, and this is a truly rewarding feeling. Throughout lessons, I work with a highly friendly, approachable and patient approach to tutoring, as it is vital to ensure that my students feel comfortable to ask questions on whatever topic they may have difficulties with.
Furthermore, I aim to be as concise in my explanations as possible and I like to break down problems into manageable chunks. For example, I encourage students to underline keywords in questions and, particularly in maths and science, to draw diagrams to help them visualise problems. When it comes to exam technique I teach students precisely how to answer certain styles of question to score full marks and show as much working wherever possible. This is not only a very important skill to have to get good grades, but it will help them develop more of an understanding of the problems they are solving.

I am a GTC (General Teaching Council for Scotland) registered Maths teacher with a first class hons BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Edinburgh University and a background in engineering and industry.

While I am highly academically qualified, I understand how it feels to struggle with study and the benefit of getting extra support. I found parts of maths and language difficult at school and was lucky to have a couple of very understanding teachers who helped correct the damage to confidence and understanding left by some rather less sympathetic practitioners.

I have many interests from sports and the environment to languages and the arts and believe in lifelong learning to help gain new skills remain adaptable and responsive to change. I have distinctions from the OU in maths and psychology courses and continue to access various online learning opportunities. This enables me to take a broad outlook and to encourage students to think widely and deeply about opportunities and issues in the world.

The students who were failing and dispirited who progress to pass with very secure B grades, their confidence and positivity restored.
