I live in Cheshire with my 16 year old son. I enjoy camping, the outdoors & the countryside in general. We like to travel around the UK, especially Scotland & Southern Ireland. I have been teaching in Further & Higher education for the past 29 years and I now tutor full time. I support Sociology, Politics, IR, Education, Nursing and Health and Social Care students. I am an examiner with a leading examination board and write regularly for Nelson Thornes and Hodder Education. Last year, some of my candidates were able to turn E grades into A grades at A2 level and many undergrads who were predicted 3rds achieved 2.1s. This was very satisfying for me and one of my A level students was able to go on & take a degree in Law after achieving a B, something he wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. I have been specialising in online teaching since 2009 and have been supporting A level, Undergraduate and Ph.D students in order to maximise their academic potential and their summative grades.

I am currently a lecturer on the BSc Psychology and Language science degree at University College London and a psychology examiner for AQA. Prior to this, I was Head of Psychology at a secondary school where I taught the AQA A-level psychology specification. I also introduced and taught Sociology A-level. I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Psychology from Durham University (First Class Honours) and have since completed a Masters degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology at The University of London, Birkbeck College and a PhD in Psychology at The University of London, Goldsmiths College.

Teaching Experience:
I have coordinated modules in developmental psychology and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also taught A level psychology for over 10-years and sociology for 2-years. I have been an examiner and Team Leader for AQA Psychology for the past decade. I have tutored students preparing to sit both OCR and AQA A-level exams. I also have some experience supervising students preparing to take IB Psychology.

I am an experienced sociology tutor and proofreader having taught in the sociology department at the University of Warwick for four years and also for a short while in the School of Languages and Social Sciences at the University of Aston. (I can also tutor at this level in modern history, politics and international relations). I have BA in sociology and politics from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc in social science research methods from Sussex. I completed my doctorate at the University of Warwick. In addition to my university work, I have tutored for a private agency (where I held an advanced CRB certificate) at A-level in sociology, politics and modern history. My last DBS was held from 2023 to 2024. I have a good record of helping A-level students to achieve the grades they require for a place in higher education and I have continued this success whilst tutoring independently. I am also passionate about wildlife conservation and have initiated campaigns in my local area to conserve areas of habitat for wildlife. I chose to reduce my hours as a school teacher five years ago so that I could focus my attention on my tutoring business full time.

My main areas of expertise are English and Maths, where I can quickly diagnose a student's tuition needs and plan personalised lessons to help them to reach their learning targets.
