Personal Description:

I am a committed & enthusiastic GTCW registered teacher and business advisor, with a strong business background (valuable mix of practical & theoretical). Being a professional and motivational manager with exceptional people management skills
I have successfully delivered business results in retail, sales and operational environments and I bring a lot of HRM into my teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I am a mature entrance to the teaching profession, with detailed knowledge of Strategic management, HRM, Financial analysis, marketing and economics.
Experienced head of department and programme leader, delivering a range of programmes including vocational course for 11-18 year olds. I have taught a broad range of ability levels from OCN, Entry level to A Level.

I enjoy business and have successfully delivered Education Business Partnership (EBP) events e.g. Dynamo Day. Also I have mentored successful Young Enterprise teams, the last team represented Gwent at the regional finals (2007), wining four awards, including the Sony Business Challenge.

In terms of Business Studies, I am confident in all the areas.

I have also taught ICT in schools up to GCSE level and do commercial training in Office programmes (Word, Excel etc.). I also do consultancy work based on Telecommunications and have a broad knowledge of It in a business context.

Tutoring Approach:

Very much focused on the learner having time to understand the topic they are learning. Far too often in a class the learner is rushed through the curriculum to meet course deadlines.

I like to use case studies and look at the topic in context, how it fits with the other parts of business.
