Sally - Aldgate tutor
Information About Sally:
Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the University of Warwick studying History of Art and French. I come from Devon where I studied for A Levels in History, English Literature and French and before that GCSEs in which I achieved the highest grades in my year group. I am an understanding and sympathetic tutor as I have recently been through and am still in the education system. This also means I have some knowledge of the curriculum as it stands and methods of teaching used in schools currently. I was taught at the local comprehensive school so I know how tough it can be to receive all the attention a child needs to succeed to their fullest potential. I am able to travel as far as the tube/train network will allow. I am happy to meet students in a suitable location such as the local library.
I am bright and friendly and extremely patient. My other interests include playing the flute, fashion, photography, art and cooking. I understand that it is extremely difficult to make a decision based on a paragraph of text so am happy to meet with people so that they can get to know more about me.
Teaching Experience:
I spent one year teaching English as a foreign language in two high schools of very different abilities in Paris. I taught children from ages 11 to 17 with a very wide variety of ability. I was able to coax the weaker students whilst pushing the more advanced students to achieve more. I also have experience helping children as young as three with language skills and I have coached children in music.
Tutoring Approach:
My skills would be best applied helping tutees with aspects of their course they are finding difficult or do not fully understand, as a supplement to their mainstream learning. I am also more than happy to proof read essays and coursework. I can also help tutees to develop revision techniques, and language memory techniques which I have honed over the years in education.
I can read music and have a good knowledge of music theory and would be happy to give flute lessons.
Furthermore if tutees desire I can offer extra-curricular tutoring in art history.
